I guess the word is out. The Washington Post has listed this as among DCs 50 best in its new Fall Dining Guide. I just hope the lines dont get too much longer, because Ive always loved this place, and when I come here, I find it hard to buy just 1 or 2 Banh Mi. They are all so good, and so cheap, I want to buy one for a friend and one for lunch the next day and one just to try another flavor combination! One thing I always get: the #2 Banh Mi Thit Nuong (grilled pork sandwich). Its a cant-miss choice. Winner Winner Banh Mi Dinner. The #8 Bhan Mi Bi (shredded pork sandwich) is another meaty winner -- the pork is shredded and tossed with scallions, so it has more of that sharp oniony flavor. Its a good alternative if youre looking to mix it up. If you like Chinese char sui barbecue pork, then check out the #19 Banh Mi Xa Xiu (barbecue pork sandwich). This is my wifes favorite -- quite tasty and lean yet very tender, a good option for somebody who doesnt want anything too unusual. There are great vegetarian options, too. The #9 Banh Mi Bi Chay (veggie mix sandwich) is really good and highly recommended. The #12 Banh Mi Dau Hu Chay (tofu sandwich) is good as well, stuffed with fried tofu that has a spicy kick, but its quite rich and not quite as interesting in my opinion. With either I recommend asking them to hold the mayo. As a shrimp lover, I had to try the #23 Banh Mi Chao Tom (sugarcane shrimp sandwich). If youre not familiar with Vietnamese sugarcane shrimp, be warned that this is a cooked paste of ground shrimp, egg, sugar, corn starch, and other flavors -- like a pink shrimp sausage. Its an interesting diversion, but in the end I cant recommend it over the more flavorful pork and veggie options. Order enough for next-day leftovers. I love taking a day-old DC Banh Mi to work and microwaving it for 30-60 seconds, just enough to warm and soften the bread. Beats any takeout lunch in the neighborhood.

It had been a while since Ive had a sandwich from this shop, but I went last week to see if it was still as good as I remembered. It doesnt quite match my memory, but its not bad. I had half a sugarcane shrimp banh mi and another half with the Vietnamese ham and pate. The shrimp paste seemed to have had food coloring added--cooked shrimp is not that pink!--and the ham was a bit too salty for me without the other good savory qualities I normally associate with that particular sort of ham/spam. Having said that, the pickle was nice, the other veg plentiful, and the bread tasty. I do like the other offerings: steamed corn, xoi, chè, and a freaking deliciously potent iced coffee. Id go back for the iced coffee alone. Note: the parking lot is a bit manic. Be wary of wayward drivers with tunnel vision.

This was literally the first place we tried when we moved into our neighborhood, as we needed sandwiches for the guys helping us move. Lucky break. This is some of the best banh mi weve had. Really amazing fresh crusty bread, good quality fillings, always delicious. Nice steamed buns and other interesting sides. Plus there are lots of charming misspellings ("vergie mix," "beff jerky") throughout the store, which gives it character. Pro tip: order the veggies on the side if youre not going to eat the sandwich right away so the bread doesnt lose that perfect crunch.

Me and my boyfriend have gone here a couple times and its kind of gone downward. The last time we went we ordered steaks cooked medium, and they were very rare. It almost seemed as if they werent cooked long, even though the wait to get the food they couldve cooked it a bit longer. Ive been there before and got chicken that didnt seem all the way cooked. There isnt a whole bunch of space to wait in. Our table was right next to the wait area so people were hovering over us most of our time there. Overall..its just an average place nothing special.

I go here for plain bread. some of the stuffs are pretty good.. like bánh chuối, bánh tiêu, bánh tầm bì, bánh da lợn, bánh bò.. etc I dont like their sandwich, coffee and chè.. definitely no gỏi cuốn.

Great Vietnamese sandwiches- Banh mi. Very busy at lunch with customers getting 4-5 sandwiches at a time. Average price $4.25 per sandwich. There was a line that went pretty quickly. Order placed at counter-bagged sandwich completed by sandwich maker and brought to waitinhg customer. Diverse group of customers, many people looked to be buying and taking back sandwiches for coworkers.

Ive been eating here for years. They (as of 6/6/2016) have a buy 5 get the 6th free on their sandwiches, which is a steal. Spicy pork bahn mi is a winner and though Im a big eater, 2 is good enough for me (which leaves me with 2 to eat at night, and 2 for lunch the next day. Heaven. *ask for extra cilantro and mayo if you wanna try it my way.

Hands down, the best banh mi you can find in NOVA. There is four things i look for in banh mi, the daikon & carrots (4/5), homenade mayo (4/5), pate (4/5), FRESH bread (5/5)... you can tell if the bread is fresh or old. when you squeeze the bread to put in your mouth and it cracks but a but soft, that is an old piece of bread. Here is fresh

These sandwiches are damn tasty (simple, fresh and to the point. No fireworks or complex recipes. What you see is what you get) and the price is oh so righteous. Have returned many times and continue to do so. Buy 5 get 1 free so feel free to feed the family. No sandwich costs more than $5 dollars, most range from $3-$4.

This place is really good if you are looking for a delicious, cheap (under 4 dollars!), and quick sandwich. Ive tried a couple different ones and my favorite is the grilled pork. They usually put hot peppers on it, but you can ask them to put it on the side. The bread is really good too.

Not what I expected but I got a meatball sandwich. It had carrots, radish, sprouts etc and it was spicy. It was excellent. But most of what was on the menu didnt sound all that appetizing. I will upgrade from 4 to 5 if I keep getting great food but so far its great but not the best.

This place has, in addition to absolutely delicious sandwiches, an assortment of fresh spring rolls that are pre-made and ready for take out. Very convenient to be able to grab fresh spring rolls to go. And dont forget the ice coffee. Love this place. Fantastic service.

Love the banh mi sandwiches! The tofu skin one is my favorite. They are quite generous with the veggies and cilantro. If you go around lunch there is usually a wait. I wouldnt recommend getting the bubble tea here. Ive had much better at the Eden center.

Twice now, first time call for pick up, and got there they said they never got the order, second time took almost ah hour to get 6 sandwich...horrible...Banh Mi across the the intersection is way better and better customer service, even Eden is better...
