Store manager (Andy) terminated my daughter ..who never missed a day..never called in and was never late..and who also never had one prior customer complaint.....she was signed off going on break and a customer approached..she told the customer she was closed..this customer in return sent a customer complaint..and over this one incident my daughter was terminated!!..it is STONGLY believed this customer knows the store manager or someone with authority with in the company..my daughter is pregnant and her career at Food City was her everything!!..Management at this location took ONE customer complaint and abused his authority and job title by instantly terminating an employee...he preached poor customer service was the reason..but I believe if a store truly cares about great customer service they will work with their employees on how to improve customer service..not just terminate an employee over one simple complaint!!..The manager at this location...should NOT be in a management position..he abuses his authority!..A great manager who cares about his store..his customers..wouldnt terminate a great employee over one complaint..instead hed work with his employees on improving customer service!!..no-one has 100% perfect customer service..and if is truly food Citys goal to achieve this customer satisfaction rate then they should work with their employees to achieve this..not terminate them!

Food City is a fine grocery store. Its nothing exciting, just a place to buy food. The Chilhowie store would be a little nicer if they had a self checkout, but they have a great sloped parking lot so that you can ride your cart back to the car. Just dont tell anyone I said you can do that.

They have a fairly large selection of food stuff but prices are much higher than Walmart. Also the meat coolers seem to always smell badly, not conducive to buying food.
