One of my favorite restaurants - if not my #1. You choose a dish and then select from a variety of deliciously seasoned meats. Pastor, marinated pork, is my favorite and my family loves it as well. We also typically get the chicken and carne asada steak. The chorizo is good but is often too salty for us - the habanero marinated pork is good but sometimes its too hot so we stick to the basics. I typically get the Flautas or the Mexican-style tacos. The family enjoys both but also gets the nachos, empanadas, gorditas (not what TB has) and have been trying various other items as its difficult to go wrong here. They also have a selection of four salsas - our favorite is the guacamole salsa when its proportioned correctly - sometimes its mixed with too much green salsa - otherwise, its great. Amazing restaurant - excellent and unique but authentic and familiar flavors - meat, beans, rice etc - all very tasty. The front desk is run by a friendly, humble guy - I believe hes owner/part owner. Currently this is the only location but they are opening another - in Waynesboro, I believe. Cash only.

No me gusta porque, pedimos un taco de carne asada y esa carne tenía como mil años ya de vieja y la cara del dueño parece que le íbamos a ir a pedir comida regalada quepena que haya personas atendiendo esos lugares de comida con esa mala actitud

Every time I come in the proprietor acts like its an enormous burden to serve me food. He seems legitimately surprised that I have brought currency and want to exchange it for his enchiladas. Dont even care, I love it there and eat lunch from there at least once a week. Miles better than the watered down Mexican joints like El Puerto and Guadalajara. Just try it, you wont go back.

My co-workers and I have been going here for years. They have the best tacos Ive ever had. I always get Cabrito (habanero marinated pork). If you like heat, I recommend this with the "very hot" tomatillo sauce. They have other delicious homemade sauces as well, if you dont want them too spicy. You cant get a better taco in town! They take credit cards now, too!

Okay. This is going to sound hyperbolic, but I want whoever reads this to think for a moment in terms of value--the quality of what you get for the amount of green you part with. Thinking in these terms, La Michoacana is easily--easily--the best restaurant in Charlottesville. Get three tacos locos. Thank me later.

Visiting UVA from Fort Worth, TX and decided good Mexican food was an important consideration for our son:). This place ranks right up there with the best Mexican food in Fort Worth, very authentic. I was wowed by everything we ordered and I am not easily impressed when it comes to good Mexican food.

Super delicious. I got 4 tacos and had to get the 4th boxed up to go because I was full after 3, so the amount you get is quite nice. A bit inconvenienced by the fact it is cash only but there is an ATM at the convenience store across the street. So worth it though! I will be coming here again!

Place doesnt have salsa for hard chips. The utensils were dirty and the guy seemed to not be interested in customer service but rather in cruising his tablet with his wife. I dont need people kneeling at my feet, just good old normal service. Theres better Mexican elsewhere for better prices.

Fantastic place! Possibly best Mexican in Charlottesville. I visited again recently, having not been here in 3-4 years (circumstance, it was excellent then, too!), and it was so good I went back several times within the same week. I highly recommend this place!

Great authentic taco place with a friendly staff. I highly recommend getting the habanero pork tacos, theyre incredible. They also have three salsas for you to add to whatever you want, a tangy guacamole sauce, a smokey red sauce, and a spicy green sauce.

Jose still offers the best Mexican experience in town. IMHO, La Mich has been consistently good since the days of the truck. Menu has expanded over the years. BEST tamal(e)s around, too. Everything is full of flavor.

Food is awesome. I love Mexican food and can be pretty picky about it but this is authentic and delicious. The outside looks a little sketchy but the food is amazing. Just FYI they take cash or check and dont open on Mondays.

The tortas (sandwiches) are amazing. I cant comment on their authenticity, but if they eat these in mexico Ill need to visit. You get a good amount of food for your money, just keep in mind its cash only.

If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go. The parking lot is a bit terrible and sometimes there is a bit of a wait but the food is incredible and inexpensive.
