Its not the place to go for the American Chinese, but its the place to go for *real food.* Real food is different than fake food in that, it usually came from growing plants or animals that have walked around on this earth and fed off of things, such as plants, that once grew and have since been processed into feed. Fake food - or deep-fried, bubbling-extra-dough-layer-over-meat, and flat, salty chunks of unidentifiable product that might have been rehydrated or made from chemicals to appear as meat - is not very good for you, and it does not serve a significant nutritional purpose. Sometimes, even though we have had fake food, even if we ate a lot of it, we still want to eat more later. Real food does not have such an effect. And it tends to make you feel satisfied, and fills you up as you eat it. At Essex Chinese, they gave us food that made us feel full as we ate it. It was a nice departure for this area. They were also very friendly to our noisy, messy baby and as overjoyed as we were to see that she liked the scallion pancake, spicy broccoli, and rice. We will return. Maybe tonight!

Terrible. We only ate a little bit of our order and threw the rest in the trash. Pork looked ambiguous like a cross between beef and pork and wasnt a good quality, the pork was chewy and I had to spit it out, the sauce was nothing special just your run of the mill cheap sauce, the Crab Rangoons were over done and oily and parts of it were beyond crisp but hard. The veggies were tender but not that tasty also real Chinese food chops up the veggies smaller and doesnt just throw in whole broccoli stokes. Then when we bit into the teriyaki Chicken it was dry, rubbery, and came apart in long dry strips. If the check was cooked right it should be that a persons bite would not result in long strips of tough chicken. I could complain more but seriously do not throw your money away on this terrible restaurant. Gross food.

If you are looking for Americanized Chinese take-out this is not the place,The fried chicken is soggy and the rice was watery. when I opened the containers, the stinch that came off the food, yuck, I tried to get past it so I took a bite and it was disgusting.I have not written any reviews like this but Im deeply disappointed with this restaurant

This is a decent establishment with fairly typical fare. There may be a little variation in the quality of the food, but nine times out of ten everything is fresh and delicious - everyone has their bad days. Service is prompt when picking up or dining in. I cant speak to their delivery service.

Most food and best variety of offerings youll find in the state. My girlfriend is native Chinese, she says the scallion pancakes are better than what her grandma makes back home. For take out, its impossible to do better. If youre looking for a nice sit down restaurant Id advise Pho Dang.

Worst chinese food ive ever had. This place just plain old sucks. I ordered a bunch of food and when I got it home ate a couple bites of everything spit it out and threw it away

Absolutely the worst Chinese food I ever had in my life! We ate a little, threw the rest in the garbage. Do yourself a favor--avoid this greasy hole in the wall like the plague.
