I was attracted to Mitsui by a Newsday article (which I now know to have been a paid advertising by Mitsui). My reservation was not held. The host attempted to seat 5 of us in a booth with an extra chair attached. After insisting that that would not do a table was adjoined with the booth. They do not serve cocktails, only beer, saki, or wine. They brought cans of soda to the table. The Saki was decent. The wine possible from a box. The cooked portions of our meal below average. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and average. The desserts were average to below average. All in all I would recommend Mitsui as a spot for lunch, not to experience a classic sit down dinner. This is not a place to indroduce someone to the "sushi experience". If youd like to have decent sushi for lunch this might a spot. I was expecting more from thier claims of being "upscale". It is far from an upscale experience. Im told to be a good gauge for these sorts of things. Perhaps i caught them on a bad night, but not likely.

Really loved this restaurant. The food is reasonably priced and the service is excellent. Had California roll, eel, tuna and shrimp tempura. The food is so delicious and fresh. The atmosphere, although small, is very quaint. I would recommend this to everyone. We went on a Friday night at 7. It was moderately full but then the people started flocking in at 8. You wont be disappointed.

Ive been a fan of Mitsui since it opened but as time has gone on the only thing you get is poor service. You call to order food for delievery and you can barely understand the people your speaking to. When the mang. Eric is not on site and working its a complete free for all. Very sad to see a great sushi rest. go down the tubes for poor management.

The restaurant is very nice looking. Its dark wood with nice lighting. The booths are particularly nice to sit in. I like this restaurant very much. The food is excellent. The sushi and sashimi are beautifully prepared and the fish is fresh and delicious. The restaurant is a nice, low-key place. Sssshhhh. Dont tell everyone!!!

Never, Ever a dissapointment! Delicious! Definitely recommend the valentine roll, sushi pizza, u.f.o.... too many too name. Their sushi is always fresh and their dishes are plated beautifully. And one last thing the staff is so friendly and the sushi chefs are personable, polite, and open for suggestions.

We had stopped going to Mitsui when the quality went down under the old management. Under the new management, the food is excellent. Were happy to be able to recommend Mitsui once again. Everything from soup to nuts came out tasty and delicious. Great food at reasonable prices. Worth the visit...

My husband and I visit frequently. Although we live in Atlanta, we consider this one of our favorite restaurants. We take all our guests to Mitsui and everyone always enjoys it. We cant recommend it enough. Its always fabulous!

Everytime I decided to pay for the roll with "caviar on top" there is never any there when I open it, not even one. It must have all hatched and swam away in the time it takes them to make a few rolls.
