And easily in my top 5 in the country (at least that Ive been to). My household has eaten there for years now, usually once a week, and at points, up to 4+ times per week. We shop next door at the large market... also, on the other side of the market is a great little bakery. But I digress. They have, of course, the Americanized garbage, but at the same time they have some wonderfully authentic Chinese and Vietnamese fare as well. It has the best Pho Ive ever had in my life. Pho Dac Biet, basically the house special pho... When Im not feeling well, I just get a big thing of the broth to go and drink it. The hot and sour soup is also the best Ive ever had, by far. Always balanced perfectly between spicy, sour, a little bit sweet. Plenty of mushrooms and not too much tofu. Beef in hot pot is insanely good, as is the chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce and the bun cha. If you like a little spice, the Singapore style noodles are wonderful, a sort of curry noodle dish... very difficult to describe, just try it. Also the Peking spare ribs (ask them for spicy when you order them, you wont be disappointed). 90% of the time I either order the Pho or the spare ribs. I swear, old hobo shoe would taste great in that sauce. And might I also mention, real Vietnamese coffee? Yes, I might, and I did, and its delicious. And I dont tend to care for coffee normally. The service is very very good. I wouldnt go so far as to say "stellar", but, its not a fine dining establishment, its a little mom and pop Chinese/Vietnamese place. They have, of course, the Americanized garbage, but at the same time they have some wonderfully authentic Chinese and Vietnamese fare as well. The prices, although theyve gone up recently (they had to, with the economy and cost of product), are more than reasonable, and youll be hard pressed to find anything on the menu over $8. There are a couple things, of course like the duck... worth every penny, best duck Ive EVER had, and poultry/fowl are my specialty and passion as a chef. The decor... well... Im not there to look at the pretty walls, Im there to enjoy wonderful food made by people who care about and put pride into what they make, and spend a relaxing time with the people I love, without being rushed out the door. And that is precisely what I get, every time, without fail.

I had liked South China house as a low key and inexpensive place to eat. Today that changed. Last week, after having dinner with friends at the restaurant, I accidently left my hat at the table. Today, I detoured by the restaraunt after work to pick my hat up. I stood at the counter for several minutes before anyone came to help me, no big deal it is a restaurant and people are busy. At the same time the waitress arrived, a agroup of five people walked to the counter and wanted to pay. When I told the waitress that I wanted to pick up my hat and was not there to eat she started ringing up the five people who wanted their check split five ways. By the time she had finished this, three more people came up with their check and wanted it split as well. She started helping them, I asked her to please get my hat, she had already indicated she knew which hat I was talking about. Instead she rang up the people. Finally she went to get my hat, which took all of two seconds, and came back dangling it as far as possible in front of her, from and edge, between her thumb and forefinger. I am fairly neat and tidy person, my appearance does not scream dirtbag. Even if it did, all people deserve respect and the time of day.

Very authentic! I grew up in Hong Kong, so believe me that. 7 of us went for lunch and I tried a few things we ordered, and I thought they were better than most Americanized Chinese restaurants I have been to. I asked for a different version of a noodle dish, and the guy said no problem (we spoke in Cantonese too). And the dish turned out very well. The place could use a face lift but the food is good, good portions also, and not expensive. One of us picked up the bill for all 7 of us and it was about $54 before tipping. Highly recommended!

Some Asian friends of mine introduced me to this place and I fell in love. Within a couple weeks my wife and I had gone two more times and we absolutely love it! Delicious pho at an affordable price. The food was filling and didnt feel heavy in the stomach like a fatty meal would settle. Super delicious and satisfying with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. They also have a very friendly staff which a huge bonus. I recommend this place to everyone!

Today was the second time I tried this place and I absolutely love it! The staff is lovely and the food is spectacular. Seated and served fast and the seafood pho I had was delicious. This restaurant has a Chinese and Vietnamese menu, and so far Ive only tried the Vietnamese but I am excited to try a Chinese dish next time. THERE WILL DEFINITELY BE A NEXT TIME :)

I met a friend for lunch here. He was running late. They were happy to seat me and brought me water and menus. As soon as he arrived they were right there ready to take our orders. It was a very nice experience. The food was wonderful! I recently moved here and have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant. Well, Ive found it!

从网上慕名而去,吃了店里的牛肉套餐和河粉,不知道4.4的分是怎么来的,非常怀疑,简直太差劲,饭菜难吃量又少,国内同胞千万不要上当了。

the Pho is great! the orange chicken is good too. you cant go wrong with the pho though. dont expect a wait on a weekend...the servers cell phone will ring while hes taking your order, and there is no music going while your eating. but the pho is amazing and priced VERY well

Ive been to hundreds of asian resteraunts in the U.S. and this is number 3 on my list. I always order same thing twice. Flavor was always consistant. Quality and quantity always on point. Alway fast and friendly too. Chinesse or Vietnamese variety. Thank you South China House.

I Love the food and the service and the place. Olivia is a charming host and server! I find the place Always filled with warm people and food... But, they are NOT open Sunday... As Google seems to think.. Perhaps Ill see if the owners can change their listed hours here...

The quality of the food went down in size and flavor. Clearly this place is trying to make more money with the size of the portions and the quality of the ingredients. Prices are halfway limiting with high. The area of opportunity in this place will be the service.

My go to place for Pho, my fav being V18 (Spicy, tendon, tripe, brisket) with extra meatball. But its all good. The chili oil is nice when you want an even spicier bowl of heaven. V3 the crispy rolls are also great. Snack on those while waiting on my V18.

Newly simplified menu. Pho is very good. I like the V14 Pho w/ round eye. I generally get the fresh spring rolls too. The penut sauce is not great but the rolls themselves are good. Reasonable prices. Close to Liberty Park and great service.
