This is one of the best Chinese places to go in Salt Lake City! I was first introduced to it by a co-worker who used to live in China. He said that the food reminded him of home (they have a lot of the things that are authentic to Hong Cong). Later, I took one of my sisters friends from school (who is also from China). She couldnt get enough of that place (getting really excited about their selection) and later took us to Dim Sum (I would have had no idea what to try, but whatever it was that she picked out was very good). Ive ordered a few things here, and though some dishes are just okay, others are amazing; for the price, all the food is worth it. My favorite dish is their Sesame Chicken (Ive never had better). Their pastries from the Dim Sum were also excellent. The portions on the lunch/dinner menu are huge, so its always good to go in a group and "share." Although their service is just average, this is probably because theyre always so busy. Instead, plan on going for the food, understanding that you may have to flag down staff if you need something. The atmosphere is much improved from their last location on Main St (which reminded me of a church or funeral home). Its also kid-friendly (though they dont have any kid-sized meals on the menu, so just plan on getting an extra plate to share with them).

At my work we were all thinking of ordering Chinese food, then another co-worker said that she knows the owner and that they have really good food, so we tried it. OH WOW! It is so good! The delivery was quick and the food was still hot even though they are downtown and we were a little farther south (15-20 minute drive). Whenever we craved Chinese wed order from here. And today I told my family we were having Chinese, and that place was the best, we ordered on the way there and picked it up (about 25 minutes later we ate) and it was just as good as I remembered! The SPICY chicken is super HOT (mystery red peppers?) The Egg Foo Yung is super good (my grandmas favorite) Ive tried all kinds of their dishes and are all great. I have no idea what Caroline is talking about "Had better Chinese at McDonalds"? Well that just goes to show you this person eats very poorly and has no taste buds (besides that, McDonalds doesnt have Chinese! They have a salad with mandarin oranges... hmm, I dont think she knows what constitutes as Chinese) And I totally agree with Sam, the host was very nice and polite. He even saw that I was paying, saw my father who walked in with me, and handed the heavy bag to him (adorable!)

This used to be my frequent lunch spot with co-workers, the lunch menu is so affordable its criminal! Thats the only reason why theyre getting a star. I went with my roommate during dim sum saturday and we waited 20 minutes to have someone come by and we got some dim sum options, but we really wanted something off the menu, fastforward 10 mins and a group come in and immediately they have all the attention and help, drinks, dim sum and food ordered like that. I was right across from this table and I make my best I need help face, raise my hand, make eye contact with the staff and wave. Nothing. Fast forward 40 mins and the table across from us gets all their food and no one has come by to even take our order. I had it by then, I got up, paid and left and they offered no apology or reconcilement for the terrible service. I have never been back since.

The first time I went into New Golden Dragon, I was immediately skeptical. From the very odd looking crab aquarium to the decor I thought the food just wasnt going to taste good. I was wrong. Their money is obviously spent in putting the best ingredients in their menu. Ive never had their seafood so I cant vouch for it, but everything else is amazing. I dont think that they are prejudice at all, they of course speak Mandarin or Cantonese better than they do English. But the way you can tell if a Chinese place has good food or not is the amount of Chinese people eating there. You will always see plenty in there, no matter what time you go. Their Dim Sum is affordable and tasty and they have the BEST Sesame Chicken I have ever eaten. Ive eaten at Chinese places all over the US and they by far are the best!!

Ive only been here for dim sum and I love it. They do the cart service on the weekends which is great for those who, like me, have no idea what things are called, but can point and say "Ill take one of those." If you havent had dim sum, try it. Its a great social experience too and the golden dragon has multiple big tables for large groups, though you might have to wait a while, especially if you get there after 11:30 or so. The best spots are just to the right of the door and reception are. The carts tend to go there first so you (typically) dont have to worry about things running out before the cart gets to your table, which can be an issue on some of the items if youre seated further back.

I thought the service was fast, the place was a little dumpy (but hey, as long as it is good food Im fine with that). But the food was just not that good. Im sick of Chinese food being heavily battered, deep-fried, loaded-with-oil food. The beef and noodles were also heavy on the oil. Tasted barely decent, and there was a lack of vegetables with the sweet and sour pork, and it all just seemed unhealthy. Maybe Ill stick with Thai, Korean, and Japanese food if its impossible to find some nice and non-donut style Chinese food. I wish I would have read more reviews and tried the dim sum. I now know that if there is no ZAGAT by the rating number on google maps, the place my be overhyped.

Great tasting food but service was crap! It took half an hour at a not busy time to get asked about drinks. We went for dimsum, waited an hour to be able to order dimsum. Waited some more, finally the cart came with very few items, we selected a couple. After that we waited for them to bring more options they never came back, my daughter wasnt even offered a drink. We ended up ordering a meal plate which tasted fine but I really just wanted dimsum, I grew up eating at a wonderful restraint in vegas that did all dimsum all day and so I had high expectations, new golden dragon was disappointing.

They didnt come to ask if we need anything; they didnt fill any water even there were two empty glasses; they didnt give us any containers which we plenty of foods left over. The outrageous thing was they wrote their own tip for $10.00 for the foods we had $41.90. Last week we went to Texas Roadhouse, we had our dinner for $40 and we tipped her $10 willingly (not someone writes his own tip) because she served us well. Would you tip someone over 20 percent that serves you poorly? We will never go back that restaurant again.

Some of the best dim sum in Utah. Be sure to show up early Saturday or Sunday morning for it otherwise you risk waiting a very long time for it. I recommend you get something from. The soy bean cart. The fresh soy bean milk is really good. I also really love the soft tofu desert! Also be sure to get some of the rice porridge. And all the steamed buns and dumplings! The calamari is also a personal favorite. Each dish is pretty cheap, so dont be afraid to try it all!
