Meh. Pats is still the SLC reigning bbq champion. So, we thought we would try Kaiser because it was an option on Food To You. Heres what we tried and our thoughts: 1. Ribs - my husband says they were seasoned well and succulent with plenty of meat. No sauce needed. 2. Potato Salad - my husband says it has a well-balanced flavor between the potatoes and seasoning. 3. Coleslaw - hubby says it was bland, he would never order again. 4. Sauce - Pretty decent. My husband really likes the sauce. I think it has too much smoke flavor (and I REALLY like smoke flavor). 5. Brisket - Really fatty, not very much meat, off flavor. 6. Pulled Pork - husband says it was horrible, way too fatty. Not really pulled, just kind of a hunk of meat. 7. Corn-on-the-cob - sadly, the best part of my meal. You cant really mess up corn-on-the-cob. 8. Bread - its sandwich bread, I was hoping when it mentioned bread with the meals it would be cornbread, because its the best bread for bbq. It may be made in house though. 9. Sausage - overcooked, dry, tasted like a dried pepperoni stick that you get from those bins at the gas station, overly, overly seasoned. 10. Baked beans- the worst baked beans I have ever had, I couldnt eat more than 2 bites and I really like baked beans. I would not eat their food again, especially when I can just get Pats which is 5 minutes away. My husband said he would, but he would only order ribs and potato salad. L

Gregg -who I believe is the owner- was very rude to myself and my mom when we came into his place. He had a bad attitude when I talked to him on the phone, very impolite in general and bad phone manners- but some people are just akward over the phone and dont have good communication skills , so i deciced to come into his store and see the item i called about that he listed on ksl. I wish i wouldnt have. My encounter with Gregg left me feeling- just bad. I cant understand how people who act like that run a successful business. I would rather give my business to people who treat others with respect. I was going to give him 3 stars because i like to pretend to have a tough skin.. but i had to drop a star because the place smelled nasty and didnt look sanitary. I didnt even want to try the food after I observed the unsanitary practices of the establishment. Glad i wasnt there to eat, i might have turned around just because of the smell

If Im going to spend 11$ on lunch I kind of expect something decently good. What I got was pretty mediocre. I had the pulled pork sandwich. The bun was soggy and fell apart the first time I picked it up. (I had the food to stay.) So I ate what I could of the sandwich with a fork. The pork was too dry and tasted old, as if it were starting to spoil. Later that night I got really nauseous and threw up. The service was ridiculous. The restaurant was empty when I came in but I still ended up waiting five minutes to be talked to. The guy at the counter was very impolite and acted like I should be on my knees thanking him for allowing me to buy his food. When I gave him my money he didnt give me the change either! He just threw it in the tip jar without saying a word. I probably would have done that anyways, but really, who does that? This place is a joke. I cant see any reason why Id go there again.

Visited Kaisers this week, was very happy to see Pure Texas style BBQ served.Pintos were Texas style, cole slaw was good,i guess my only gripe would be Portion size, but im a fat boy and love BBQ.Sauce was great, brisket needed to be trimmed of fat,ive never seen Texas flat with fat left attached except at Dickeys, which i wholly dislike.I felt like i was walking into KDs out around Midland Tx area, liked the feel and the fact that it was a meat market made it most authentic. Most of your Texas BBQ places were meat markets, hence the reason you were served on butcher paper, not a sit down menu style place, which i dislike also in a bbq joint. I am a Utah BBQ judge but dont judge by same criteria as competitions.

This is my favorite BBQ restaurant in Salt Lake City. It has slightly odd hours and you would never know the building houses such a fantastic restaurant (or a restaurant at all), but it does. On Fridays they do a smoked prime rib that is amazing. If you are looking for good barbecue that is consistently delicious, eat here. But come early as they close at ~7:00pm unfortunately... Also I have had nothing but good encounters with the staff at the restaurant. Even though I am not the most social of people, I always feel welcomed and well taken care of.

This is about a "whole-in-the-wall" establishment that Ive ever been to. The owner gives off kind of a conspiracy theorist vibe and the store is full of strange memorabilia that is for sell. With all that said, the food was incredible. The brisket, ribs, sausage, coleslaw, mac-n-cheese, and sauce were all to die for. My only complaint was that the slice of bread was store bought. I will definitely be going back again and again.

Im from Texas (San Antonio) and know what good Texas BBQ should be. This place is the closest Utah will come to authenticate Texas BBQ. The owner is from the hill country of Texas and know his stuff. The BBQ is good, if it was in Texas it would be middle of the road for taste. The place is decorated like a BBQ joint you see in Texas, and they offer Big Red soda. If you want to feel like a Texan come to Kaisers.

Those of you all that complain about the owner, he does seem to be a bit rude and weird, but thats just who he is. Hes one of those quirky, non-social, and awkward type, but dont blame him. When I went there to pick up food, I thought to myself, wow this guy isnt very nice, but while I was waiting, he offered me a rib while I was waiting. I thought, wow I misjudged him completely.

I didnt care for the flavor of the creamed corn and potato salad. The meat was a little dry and had no sauce on it. The bbq sauce was in bottles on the tables. Flavor of the meat and sauce was okay. I really think that if a place calls itself a bbq spot that the meat and sauce should come out as one dish.

Friendly service, but the food just wasnt that good and the portions were small. The brisket was pretty good as was the jalapeno sausage, but the ribs were awful and the sides were bland. Also not inexpensive. The $18 super combo (3 meats) meant 1 big sausage, 1 slice of brisket, and 2 ribs.

This place is awesome! Definitely found my cure for craving authentic Texas bbq :). The chicken is juicy and seasoned well. I will definitely be back! And the service is great. The gentleman who works there is extremely friendly and helpful. Must try this place if you havent yet!

Family owned small business. They had one of the best bbq meat i have tasted from a long time from anywhere in US. Also, just like dont judge a book by its cover, dont judge this restaurant by its outer look just visit in and see for your self...
