4 Nov 16: Ive been by twice more, I need to remember I dont eat as much as I used to. Moist brisket, great stuff, I got the end cut today, intense smoke and fattier, I enjoyed it immensely. The fries today were perfectly cooked, but I think Ill try the beans next time. Oh, and Big Red. That hit the spot. 13 Oct 16: Came by for a quick to go order. Order a brisket sandwich with fries. Check out the photo, notice no fries, yeah I did too when I got home. And this was 4 oz. of brisket on a 4 oz. bun. Still tasty brisket, but that priced per pound is a pretty steep. Previous visits I thought the amount of meat was decent. I did contact them on the forgotten fries and they said theyd make up for it on my next time in. Sometime back last summer: This is some top notch Q, just the way I like it, heavy mesquite smoke and they had deckle (moist) when we arrived. I was really happy to get the burnt end cut in my pound. We got a side of beans too. Their sauce was really good too, just a bit sweet. Finally a place in the neighborhood with good BBQ, no more weekly 50 or 100 mile trips So my second visit I tried the pulled pork sandwich and the sausage. Im not a fan of pulled pork but its as good as any other Ive had. Still not a fan tho. The sausage has good flavor but is a little greasy. Good, Id have it on a sandwich if you want some. Ill be going back to the Q.

Where to start. I really wanted to like this place today, but just couldnt. We ordered the brisket plate which comes with rice and beans. The waitress also asked if we wanted tortillas or bread, and i opted for bread. Well the brisket came out was dry and really lacked any flavor to speak of. I could taste no rub or smoke, and good brisket, even lean, should never be this dry. So I poured their BBQ sauce on to help with the dryness, but the only thing that I could taste after that was vinegar. I like vinegar based sauces but not this much. Then their mexican rice which they brag has lime and cilantro. The thing is all you could taste was the lime, just like the sauce had to much vinegar, and it overpowered everything. The charro beans were undercooked and again lacked flavor. Then the white bread - well it was not fresh - it was ice cold like it had been in th freezer and just pulled out while they made the plate. Oh, and our waitress literally left the restaurant and so no one came back to check on us or deliver our check.

Lunch of Enchiladas Callejeras were great...chile sauce just spicy enough and the onion and queso fresca filling were just the right balance of spicy, cool and crunchy....you should know that the queso fresca is NOT melted cheese, and the waitress will tell you that when you order...this is not Tex-Mex....if you love cool crumbly cheese and onions with a spicy sauce these enchiladas are for you. I also loved the Rice spiked with lime, very unusual, and the refried beans were left chunky and seasoned perfectly...no runny paste of beans here as in some places. They also took the time to garnish with the cheese and a little finely chopped cilantro. WARM salsa and chips on the table as soon as you arrive were delicious too....the salsa just piquante enough. Great Mexican dishes. I have also had their Pulled Pork Sandwich before and it is quite good as well...lots of food for the price. Back soon to try something different and I dont expect to be disappointed. Servers were attentive and friendly.

Well we obviously ordered the wrong thing. Guacamole was fresh but bland. Ordered chicken enchiladas with double beans and got rice instead of extra beans. Food was very bland. Service while friendly was very slow and we were the only ones dining in. Had to keep asking for things like water, lime for beer, etc that were not brought. Table was not wiped off which our server recognized but then never came back to clean it off so we had to. Apparently their brisket is good but our experience was so disappointing that we wont be back.

Delicious everything! Moist, falls-apart-on-its-own, brisket. Different but good sausage. BBQ sauce is on the vinegar side which I dont usually prefer but somehow it compliments their brisket & sausage amazingly! My husband brought home leftovers of (mexican-style)rice & beans, brisket, sausage. I was so confused while eating (am I eating BBQ...am I eating Mexican food??) but was thoroughly enjoying EVERY. SINGLE. BITE. That right there means that we will be back. OFTEN.

This is hands down the best BBQ place in Spring Branch. Meats are smoked on-site every day and and are beyond amazing. El Guapo also makes some of the best soups around. Service is warm and friendly. Even the rice and beans are amazing. Highly recommend.
