My wife and I agree this place is incredible. We started with the Trattoria Mario (goat cheese in marinara) which was hands down the best. Better than the Scottie Thompson at Carrabas. We chose the Bolognese Pie and added black olives, because the internet. The pie was delicious! When biting into the crust, you could tell the difference from their dough and others; it seemed more crisp, and textured. Then we moved on to the infamous Strawberry Cake. Its a bit expensive, but totally worth trying. As my wife said, "I could literally come here for a glass of wine and a piece of this cake " Our waiter was Jay, and he was, without a doubt, the most professional waiter I have had to date. He greeted us promptly, offered genuine recommendations, and most impressive to me - he made eye contact when speaking with you. Also, the manager was working WITH the staff to ensure guest satisfaction. I watched as he took several orders and refilled waters, while walking around talking with guests about their experience and meal. That was literally the cherry on top, to see a manager working with his team was amazing. The environment was beautiful. The booths were lined in a cabernet colored velvet, and the interior walls are lined with beautiful cabernet curtains as backdrops on the walls which compliment the vast wine assortment on the walls.

We dropped by the Coal Vines in Southlake for a relaxing lunch and a glass of wine. Pretty simple request for a pizza restaurant, you would think! After a 45 minute wait for food (there were only 4 other tables with guests), rude staff (we felt like we were inconveniencing them, that is if you could have gotten them to come from behind the bar to wait on you) then there was the issue of the flies, yes flies. Lots and Lots of flies. The staff and management didnt seem to concerned about the little guys, just shoooing them when ever they brought the pizza out. Yum.....not. We will NEVER, go back. As far as a good date place, youve got to be kidding, Id be so insulted if some guy took me there. The atmosphere at the Southlake location was cheesey and the heavy velvet drapes looked dirty, maybe from all the flies. Only a guys sparkling personality could over come all the negatives this place has to offer. MAYBE...... Other than these few things it was an experience.

First time at Coal Vines, my husband and I were out and wanted to have a glass of wine before heading home. We sat at the bar and inmediately one of the servers brought us a glass of prosecco on the house. Right away the bartender asked if we were having dinner and when we said no he almost took the glasses from us saying those were for dining costumers only. The server was coming next with a plate of chips and the bartender stopped him in his tracks and asked him to take it away reminding him that it was for people having dinner ONLY. The bartender gave us our wine but was indifferent and cold even after we ordered a large pizza to take home. He seemed to get nicer when he was bringing the check- Hm, wonder why? I would not recommend this restaurant as a place to go to if you are wanting to just a get a drink.

We tried out the Southlake location this past weekend and it was packed! We were told there was a 30 minute wait but it was actually over an hour, and then we were offered a table outside on the covered patio (with heat lamps) but it was still quite chilly. I was told the wait to sit inside was much longer but it did start to clear out (it was 8:20 pm) at this point. Luckily, we had some extra jackets in the car so it wasnt so bad on the patio. Once we were seated, the service was pretty quick and the food (salad and a white pizza) were very good. The scallops not so much - I think we will stick to pizza moving forward. Will definitely go back but probably on a weekday. No reservations. Great wine list. Wednesday you get a free pizza with a bottle of wine.

We are big fans of Coal Vines, made better by several specials: $2.00 Tuesdays: $2.00 off glasses of wine Wednesdays: buy a bottle of wine and get a free pizza Thursdays: 1/2 off select bottles of wine We have taken advantage of the Wednesday special several times. Coal Vines has one of the better thin-crust pizza offerings, and I typically go for the Spicy Meatball: (sliced meatballs with a spicy habanero pizza sauce). Very tasty, and not too spicy. Yum. Its a dark, intimate interior. Theres also a room that kind feels like an outdoor (covered) dining room (pseudo alfresco, without actually being outside). Coal Vines and be crowded, and thus noisy, but the pizza (with those crispy burnt bubbles) is worth the wait, or the noise level.

Wine and Pizza! At first I was a bit skeptical - was not sure what "coles" meant either; thought it might of had something to do with smoking! :-) - No thank you... BOY WAS I WRONG! Turns out they have one of the only cole burning ovens in Texas, and turns out this creates some of the best Pizza youve ever tasted! And hey - who knew? The wine goes perfect with this incredible pizza! The place has an uptown, trendy decor and a large patio area that is enclosed & heated during the cold weather. It is a very good experience all the way around! (Two thumbs way up!) Enjoy!

After having eaten at Coal Vines several times for what I thought was their great vegetarian selection, I was informed by the manager that the pizza dough is made with lard (animal fat). Considering that at least half of their pizzas seem to be vegetarain, it should be mentioned on the menu somewhere that the pizzas are not vegetarian. This seems ridiculous to use such cheap ingredients when charging so much for a pizza (its hard to get out without paying $50 for a couple).

We had never visited this restaurant but had heard good things. Everything from start to finish was absolutely amazing. We brought some friends from out of town to enjoy some good pizza and we were pleasantly surprised how kind and courteous the serving staff was, the food was amazing, the ambiance was very relaxing and cant wait to come back for pizza and wine on Wednesday. Thank you Mike, our waiter, and the rest of Coal Vine for the great experience!

The pizza was amazing. The service was god awful. Between our server was inattentive and the manager is a would be prankster. Very uncomfortable experience. As soon as our server realized we werent the biggest tab he ignored our request and only came over to deliver our food and give the check. Get the food to go. It really was great pizza.

The food was AMAZING. The entertainment was fantastic! The meat balls are to die for and the strawberry cake is the best Ive EVER had! Everything is fresh, they have great quality service, and most of all the owners are the sweetest. You can truly feel the love, especially in your stomach!!! Highly recommend this place!

Good honest Pizza. Simple, fresh, yummy ingredients build a base for good pizza and food. No mucking about with heavy sauces or overly salty chesses. The food is refined and ingredients are fresh, and the prices reflect this attention to detail. Definitely worth the trip and suggest giving them a try.
