CHECK your charges!!! The food is hit or miss. I have eaten here about 10 times in last year mostly for its convenient location to the military installation. I have suspected that my tickets have been a bit high in the past but never checked until today. I ate alone today and was charged for my tea and also a "big red" drink. She seemed very nervous when I asked to explain why my bill seemed high and she immediately conceded, admiting the big red charge was inaccurate. She gave me back the cash without issue but I have a strong suspicion these "accidental" charges are a norm based off my experiences here (some if which I have just outlined). Regardless, make sure you check your bill.

This place is not good in any way. Its tacky, cheap and the cashier is really rude. The food did not have good flavor (rice was very discolored) and it was completly over priced. Nothing is fresh and the wait staff does not let you eat in peace, (someone kept asking if we ok every 2 minutes and everytime we had food in our mouths). There are plenty of better (hole in the wall) mexican resturants in SA. BLAH!!!

My fiance and I are regulars at Carmelitas. Its good food, good service, and a good deal for lunch. We have never had issues with the food being cold or not being good in taste. Their chips and salsa are better than a lot of Mexican restaurant I have been to. Its not five star restaurant, but what do you expect for a 5 dollar lunch special. Their breakfast tacos are also good.

Caremelitas is great breakfast & lunch experience with authentic cuisine & very friendly service. Its a very popular place at times - early morning and early afternoon in particular; the staff & owners are very good at ensuring efficiency & quality remain high at all times. Carmelitas tops the list in San Antonio!

My favorite place for breakfast. When we stay in San Antonio we look forward to eating here. I am a native San Antonian and I find this food right on the mark. I have not had any meal other than breakfast though. We are moving back to San Antonio, and right down the street from here. Reasonably priced.

Poor customer service, plain bean and cheese tacos, come on. How do you give me been & cheese not melted correctly. Now I have to go spend money at a better place to eat. And the cash year, looks like she hates her job. Steer clear from this place.
