I have never been so disrespected by an establishments staff in my entire life. After having trouble finding a restaurant on 5/9/2015 that was under an hour and a half wait, my girlfriend and I highly vouched for the food at Ajuuas to our five other friends who had never been. We called ahead (about 8:00 pm) and were told the wait would be 25 to 35 minutes. We headed over from Downtown leaving Mi Tierra and were surprised the wait was still 25 minutes to 35 minutes when we arrived. We got our party of seven on the wait list and I noticed we were the next and only group on the list at the time. We also noticed the entire patio and front dining room had been reserved and the only seating space was the bar, or small side dining room. After 45 minutes waiting we politely inquired when our table would be ready and the hostess said about another 45 minutes to an hour. We explained that our wait time was 25 to 35 minutes 45 minutes ago and to please work something out. The hostess (no name tag dressed in all black attire) then left for a few minutes then came back and said "sorry its 45 minutes to an hour" we then brought up our original seat time and she sat there and argued with me, denying the times we were givem, and telling me she didnt personally say that (even though she was right there at the host stand and she wrote us down on the list while her co-hostess did the talking) and contradicting every valid point i was making. Effectively calling me a liar right to my face. I finally let her know that she needed to stop arguing with me and fix it, or get a manager. While we waited for the manager the two hostesses sat there and laughed at us and made quiet jokes behind their hands while glancing to and away from us, not even having the courage to be rude to our faces. The manager then came and we explained the situation and the hostess continued to deny our quote times and called me a liar to my face again instead of admitting they had made a mistake, apologizing, and finding a way to fix it. The manager finally had to throw his hand up and silence her to get her to stop arguing and walked off to go set up a table. We watched as he and the hostess argued while putting our table together. We were finally sat, not even given an apology or spoken to by the manager or anyone else. The rest of our entire meal was rushed and we felt un-welcomed and like we needed to eat and get out. We werent even offered an appetizer or round of drinks for the unprofessional rude attitude we experienced and the long wait. Thankfully, like always, the food was absolutely delicious and our server was very polite and courteous. If its good food you want look no further, but expect to be treated like a liar and un-welcomed when you arent even in the wrong.

Ive been to Ajuua almost two dozen times, and Ive never had a bad meal. In fact, every plate has been done well. They may not have the absolute best enchiladas, tacos, or anything else, but everything they do is very good. The chips are tasty, and the salsa is also very good with a complex flavor (not spicy). The corn/flour tortillas are fine, nothing special. The beans and the rice are flavorful. The meats range from good to very good (sometimes a bit dry), but the spices and sauces are where Ajuua really shines. (Okay, they have great drinks as well). Entrees like the chicken tinga topped with Mexican cream are incredible (I didnt find it that spicy, however). My personal favorite is the enchilada casserole that is nothing more than layers of corn tortillas, beef or chicken fajita meat, white cheese, and your choice of six different sauces. Speaking of sauces, no matter what plate I order here, I always order something with the chipotle cream sauce. I cannot express how good this sauce is. Its one of the best things Ive ever tried (Los Barrios makes a similar-tasting sauce thats less bold and much more runny; Rosarios chipotle cream sauce doesnt compare). Whatever you do, try the chipotle cream sauce! In short, Ajuua serves great food consistently. Heck, even the Sunday buffet is excellent. You can find places that do specific items better, but one thing is for sure, you cannot go wrong eating here. My current top 5 Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants remain: 1) Taqueria Datapoint, 2) Ajuua, 3) Guallijos, 4) Cascabel Mexican Patio, and 5) Taqueria El Chilaquil

First time customers will never return. My wife and I went during our lunch hour on a not busy day as only 3 other tables had customers. We were seated immediately at 12:06 PM to be exact and we were thinking "great, well be out of here by 1:00 PM. We got our chips, salsa, and drinks and our order was taken roughly 5 minutes after we arrived. I am not sure what happened after that but they forgot about us. 12:25, 12:35 went by and nothing happened. Our drinks were not re-filled and our waitress was nowhere to be found. Finally the manager came by our table at around 12:45 to bring us our soup and to let us know that our food is on its way, but by this time we are getting ready to walk out. We ask for the check and for the food to be packed to go, but when they finally bring it at 12:52, they bring the wrong order and in dine-in plates. Mind you, we order an "overpriced" Taco norteno plate each and that should not take 45 minutes to prepare. The manager and waitress did not seem empathetic and thats too bad. Definitely a very disappointing experience.

The food was good. However it did not cancel out the bad experience we had. The service was friendly. So was our server. However, that was only when we saw her. We ordered drinks, they came, but no refills. When it was time to take our order, our server was nowhere to be found. Two other people working there noticed us looking around and got us refills. When we asked for our server to take our order it took a while to get her to our table. She may have been assigned elsewhere, Im not sure, but either way, we were not followed up with. We finally got our order in. It came quickly which was nice after waiting for a while. However it was half way through our meal that we were even checked on how the food came out. This place has had good reviews and this was the first time we had gone there. Disappointed as this was a Wednesday night and not particularly busy. May try again to see if service is better, but bad first impression. Portions are large, and again, friendly wait staff when they are around. We just couldnt seem to get attention.

This is one of our regular places to eat. They have excellent food and the margaritas are very good! We have tried most things on the menu and have liked them all. They have enough choices to not feel like you are always eating the same thing or something similar. The charro beans are my favourite in the city also. The wait staff has always taken good care of us also. Finally the Sunday brunch is great! A few of my favourites are any of the tacos, the steak ala Mexicana, and the Big shot burrito where you can pick from meats and sauces to make it your own. There is a great outdoor patio to sit on with fans and misters to help keep it comfortable even when it is hot outside. They often have a good band outside on weekends also. We have celebrated many birthdays and special events here with family and friends and it is the first place my kids say they want to go if given a choice. Brian The GM is great! He is usually walking around checking on people and stops to say hello to us. The other managers are very nice also.
