I am giving this a one star because its the lowest star I can give. To the previous poster yes, this place does have a buffet. I know, because I was there just yesterday. I went to this one because years ago when I went it was pretty decent. Well, not anymore. I dont know how anyone can rate this place with high stars, there are far better Chinese restaurants in Mesquite. First, my tea was gross, my daughters dr.pepper tasted flat. The food though wasnt any better. It just wasnt good. This was the FIRST in a long time that I have refused to eat because I just didnt like the food. Our waiter was very sweet, I explained to him that I had never been in this position before but I just cant eat the food it just wasnt good. He asked if I wanted the check, I explained that we needed to work out some kind of deal because my daughter and I didnt finish our first round of drinks, took a mere two bites of food and I wasnt paying in full for these meals. I could tell when he came back over to me he felt uneasy and explained the manager wouldnt give me any discounts that it wasnt a try before you buy. While I understood this, I feel if I refuse to eat your food AT ALL, at some point you have to consider what is worse losing a few bucks or your rep getting put down? Well, I asked to speak to the said manager. She did come and said the same thing. AT this point I find my meal is worth 22 dollars. I explain there is NO way I am paying 22 dollars for food I refuse to eat. I explained that even in any other restaurant if we hated the food the company what do what they needed to make it right. I asked her would she want to pay 22 dollars for food she refused to eat because it didnt taste good. She did answer. So in some what of an attempt to make me happy she said she would take off one meal. Because, I didnt want to cause a scene I said fine even though I still felt greatly ripped off. The total was 12.73 for a total of four bites of food, a fortune cookie and half a glass of a drink. Wont make that mistake again. We ended up at Braums with a full meal for the both of us for 12.43 too bad I wasted 12 bucks at this place. NEVER AGAIN and I will be telling every single person I know in Mesquite to never eat here.

Its just sad to see the bad reviews here. I wish the ones who gave a bad review would go back and give them another chance.I feel like most of these bad reviews may have come during their off peak hours. Lets be realistic... having worked in the restaurant buisness myself, if a buffet closes at a certain time and you choose to dine in during the closing hours, you cannot expect the best and freshest quality. Overall, you can never please everyone. You will always have complaints... lol. I have been eating here since I moved to Dallas in 1999 and I would not eat anywhere else in Mesquite if Im in the mood for Chinese food. Yes, it is not a big selection like your big name places, but I promise you, you will not be disappointed. The food has tremendous seasoning and flavor and is absolutely authentic and not something what I like to call "just add water, microwave" food. The salt & pepper shrimp is for sure everyones favorite. I personally recommend the jalapeño pork during the lunch buffet!!! I have never, never had any issues when I order from the drive-thru. The service is convenient. I have never had to wait a long time and the portions are yes, amazing. Two people can eat from the large portion. The All You Can Eat to go is also very popular. When dining inside, I see a lot of patrons come in and choose that option. The restaurant is an older building. I think it use to be a burger king before, but overall the establishment is clean and the chairs are very comfy, friendly wait staff, whatever I choose to drink never goes empty, awesome manager in (Jenny) and the atmosphere casual. Very good place to chill and enjoy great Chinese food. I eat here at least once a week, sometimes two... haha. I hope this review helps yal out. If I do have to make a complaint, I would say the restrooms could use some upgrading, but overall you wont find better Chinese cuisine in Mesquite than at China First.

Ive been passing this place a lot of years and never took the time to try their food. Its not big or fancy place. The buffet was hot and fresh, but I had too wait 10 minutes for rice and 15 for shrimp. Our seats had been repaired with tape, and I could feel the sticky-ness. The food surprised me. I could actually taste that they had washed the vegetables before cooking them. It a small buffet but the food has big flavor. I did enjoy my meal and plan to go back.

Really wanted to give ZERO stars. Worst Chinese food we ever had. No wonder why the place is empty on a Friday evening. Man... cold food, not many choices, look old, feel old... staff not friendly. We just came back, hope we are not going to be sick tomorrow. fingers crossed. This is the first time I am taking the time to write a review about a place. So you all know how we all felt about it.

For many years, this has been a favorite of mine, food is great, some changes over the years but still simple and good, prices are reasonable, locations is great, easy access, and the food is not to salty, like other places, no much to see inside, but food options are excellent!!!!, visit and eat a vegetable plate or choose a chicken or beef!!!! enjoy your meal!!!!

Use to be good,but its now garbage. I went last night to get orange chicken and I couldnt understand what they were saying,just pure broken English. Well the chicken wasnt flavorful and tasted old just like the egg rolls. Sorry China First Im never returning. Ill take my business to FIREBOX in garland. Really good japanese food.

The food used to be good good the last 3 times I got it the chicken was cold I complained about it had to drive all the way back over there for them to supposably recook it was still cold when I got it back she said ibwas the first person to complain about their restaurant. .. Never go here and waste your money rude rude rude

Great Place, Great Prices, Looks like a hole in the wall, but its far from what youre first impressions suggest... As for the other reviews, me as a regular customer at this place, to clear things up. So for everyone who mentioned "buffet" I just want to say there is no buffet here so they must have a different place in mind

BEST CHINESE FOOD IVE EVER HAD!! $5.99 for lunch and like $7.50 for dinner you cant beat it! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALL THE FOOD HERE! THE ATMOSPHERE IS NOT THAT PRETTY BUT THE FOOD IS HOMEMADE AND DELICIOUS! I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE! And the service is excellent.
