My boyfriend has been wanting us to go for awhile now that we live close to the White/75 location. It was one of his favorite restaurants when he was a kid...30 years ago. First impression wasnt great. There was no one to greet us and it smelled like a urinal. We might have left if there hadnt been someone that walked in behind us blocking the door. The place seems completely run down. We were seated eventually and received our chips and salsa. My boyfriend ordered a margarita and after quite sometime it was served. Unfortunately, the waitress mentioned she had to ask for help making it since the day before someone told her she "made the worst margarita they had ever tasted." Confidence blown, we looked down and the "frozen" margarita was frothy. It maintained this consistency and look the entire meal and was so sweet he couldnt finish half of it. When it came time to order, I chose the Cinco Burritos because I had no idea what to try and figured they would be safest. The menu was a little vague - five mini burritos one cheese, one chicken, one avocado, one beef, and one bean with rice and beans. I asked the waitress if they came with a sauce to which she responded that she didnt know. I decided Id risk it anyways asking for a side of queso if they didnt have a sauce. The waitress came back and said that the enchiladas my boyfriend ordered game with chili con carne (which we knew from the menu). The food came out rather quickly after that. My boyfriend didnt mind his meal stating "it was better than not eating." On mine, each burrito came with a different sauce. The cheese burrito wasnt edible with uncooked onions and a vinegar tasting sauce, the beef burrito was okay with salsa, the avocado was guacamole and cold, the chicken was decent with sour cream sauce, and the bean was pretty fair. Overall my food was luke warm. The one star is for the chips and salsa. Other than that Id steer clear. We wont be back...even for $5.99 enchilada night. Honestly, we are happy we made it out without some disease or illness (fingers crossed).

Went back there on Cinco de Mayo after being away for a few years. The food was good but i dont think they were expecting as big a crowd as they had so the service was really slow. Went back a few weeks later & the air conditioning was out. At first we thought it was just really hot but after being seated & drinks ordered, we were informed that it was out. We finished our meal & only 2 other couples came in & stayed to eat. i even ordered ice cream to cool off. Ok, I know stuff like that happens so we gave it another try. I ordered the "taco salad". It was a large taco on its side with chunks of lettuce, cabbage & cheese falling out, nothing else. I had to ask for sour cream & guac. No dressing, no nothing. Guess i should have asked. My mistake. Dont think we will ever go back! My co wokers prefer Jalapenos!

El Chicos in McKinney is by far the best, it is a McKinney Institution!! Excellent food and service. Mr. Collins, the owner is a special person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone who asks for it. Mr. Collins and his staff are dedicated to meeting the restaurant needs of all customers. McKinney is fortunate to have El Chicos as an eating choice. Cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant and passion the owner and staff have for what they do. A 100% pleasant dining experience for their customers is their daily goal. Keep up the great work and keep serving quality dishes!!.

Nothing like it was when I was a kid. When the original Cuellar family still owned and operated it..it was very good. They sold out. Went downhill. Bought it back and it almost immediately was good again. Trouble is they sold it again years ago....food it not nearly as good as it was. For some reason they think Tex-Mex has to be very spicey. Id recommend going to El Fenix.

Tried their new veggie enchiladas, and it was delicious!! The Manager on duty came by our table and is very friendly. She seems to enjoy getting to know her guests, as she was visiting with all of the tables in the restaurant. My server Jesse was so great, best service I have had in a long time anywhere. We will most defiantly be back!

Great food. Excellent service. So why only 4 stars? These people went to all the trouble of installing Wi-Fi, but deny it to customers! Bad form.

The food was good, if not hot, but the service was the worst I have ever had at an El Chico location. No wonder it wasnt crowded on Fathers Day!
