I use to come here before they remodeled and stop coming because had an incident when they had the tacky signs that if in 20 minutes you didnt order anything you had to leave. In my business when I meet people I usually wait to order so I can order for everybody or at least order together; the same way when you go out to eat you dont like when the waiter comes out with one plate to the table when there is a group. My partner and I started coming again a few weeks ago and were happy they did away with that policy. We had been going on a weekly basis meeting people ordering coffee. I guess the tacky signs were replace by tacky managers stating that we had 5 minutes to order or we had to leave. I stated to her we were meeting people and was waiting for them to order together. She retreats from our table but comes back in exactly 5 minutes and asks us if we were going to order or we had to leave. Again, I said were waiting for other people in our group but i guess she didnt care so we just go take our business somewhere else.

My husband and myself decided to go and grab a cup of coffee at a major coffee shop here in the McAllen, Texas area. We go, and its a little crowded for our taste, so we took our two cups of coffee to go, and visit our local "gem," MoonBeans Coffee. Thinking to ourselves, "We already have our coffee, but lets go ahead and purchase something here, anyway, since well be using their Wi-Fi and using their seats." Let me repeat: we were ready and willing, even excited, to support our local business. Upon sitting down, a young woman, who addressed herself as the manager approaches us, and tells us, coldly and apathetically that, "Outside drinks arent allowed. You can get rid of them or leave." She was gone in a millisecond, without us even getting a chance to say, "Of course, yes." or, "Were sorry, we werent aware." Rude. Cold. Our experience at MoonBeans was one we wont ever forget, and for all the WRONG reasons. What a sad way to run a business. Never again.

This used to be one of my favorite places, but both the location and the service have deteriorated over the years while prices continue to go up. Your cup of Joe may be fresh, but it often takes 15 to 20 minutes to get a cup of just black coffee. If youre looking for a sandwich youll also end up paying close to $10. As for the location, most of the tables outside are the same ones from about 15 years ago at the original location and the tops wobble like crazy, so its impossible to work at them comfortably. Inside, the wooden floorboards have lifted off the tile they were laid over; theyve been like this for months, and they just cover up parts of the exposed uneven floor with rugs. Id go to a Starbucks more often, but for some reason my friends keep congregating here, so I still swing by from time to time.

The service was good, the staff knowledgeable, and the drinks were alright. "Beware" of the Pink Lemonade - mine was very bitter, but not in a typical sour Lemonade....Something was a bit "off" about it. I added a bit of sweetener or sugar to it, though, and once I did that, it had an amazing Watermelon-Pomegranate flavor!!! Yummy! I also tried the Spiced Chai on ice, and it was ok; it could have used a bit more Chai for that flavorful punch. Overall, a cool local hangout with a cozy atmosphered a nice change from your modern coffee shops. *Dont be afraid to ask about for details about their coffee menu, as many of the items have their own unique names, but very similar in content to those from other coffee shops (eg, Frappuccinos/Frappes, Lattes, etc.)

Lovely pour over coffee, tasty flavored lattes. The espresso frio is delicious, as is the almond milk dark chocolate mocha. Their whole beans are good, too, especially from the Pharr location. Good service. I like that they use organic ingredients. No decaf. They let you call in orders, which is super convenient. Espresso drinks are a bit weak, but easily fixed with an extra shot. Coconut shake is sickeningly sweet (I was expecting something more natural). The Oreo orbit is kind of watery, but is richer/creamier at the Pharr location.

(This happened a few months ago) My wife asked for a cup of water to go. They wanted to charge (even after we both bought coffees) My wife was willing to pay, but the barista responded "You really want to pay $2 for a cup of water?" kinda set a bad prescient. She asked to speak to a manager, of course he wasnt there. We arrived a short time later (when he was there) and he said we had to speak to the owner. All of this could have been avoided. But this lead us to Ambrosia so it was all for the best.

Im not really a coffee person, I dont like the taste (why come to a coffee shop then, right?). Staff was really helpful to find something that didnt have a strong coffee flavor, even to the point of adjusting how its made for me. Very friendly, answered any questions I had about their menu and they have drinks other than coffee, though not many (but its a coffee shop, so not really surprising, no worries). Ive been here, McAllen, and to the other one, Pharr, Ive had good experiences in both.

When walking in today with a Yeti Rambler full of WATER I was told I could not have an outside drink. After letting the manager know that it was water she replied "does not matter" in a rude tone. I frequently go to this coffee shop (3-5 times a week) and make it a habit of purchasing multiple drinks; not leeching off the free wifi like some patrons do. You just lost a customer, I guess Ill drive the extra 15 minutes to Jitterz!

8/28/2013 Myself along with 7 other people met at this Moonbeans location. FANTASTIC service and great coffee drinks. Service from an employee by the name of Josie was Five Stars. She suggested a good drink and she did it with a smile. I drink coffee alot and visit various locations within the RGV and have come to like this location. Why because of their GREAT service!!!! I will definitely return here. Thanks Josie!!! :D

Really great atmosphere, reminded me of Austin, and incredibly helpful, cheery staff. They helped me pick out my order and went into detail about the ingredients used and how to make my drink even tastier. I wasnt rushed and I genuinely felt like I was appreciated as a customer. I ordered an Oreo cookie frappuccino type drink and it was amazing! Will visit them again, soon.

Do not get half a hour before closing or even 5 minutes before closing, they will sell you the coffee, but when looking for a table to enjoy it, you will be told in a very despot way you need to leave now! Immediately, telling you good night! Horrible experience!

Great atmosphere for studying or pretending to study. Can be be a bit noisy when its filled but not enough to be distracting, just enough to remind youre in a public place. Friendly staff. They could amp their tea game a bit but I still enjoy their selection.

Awesome place to hang out with friends. It has a cozy feeling with wooden chairs and vintage hanging lamps. The coffee is great. Not as sweet as certain other famous coffee companys. They used to sell panini but after remodeling they havent brought that back.
