A co-worker and I visited White Oak Kitchen for lunch On Good Friday after seeing the flyer for the "White Oak Turns 3" event and were super excited as this is one of our favorite films AND we have been to White Oak twice and really enjoyed it (in spite of the not so great yelp reviews). Upon our arrival the festivities were rolling and we really hoped to be able to partake in the fun listed below regarding the swag items and ice cream sandwiches and did our best to arrive as close to those time frames, while observing our lunch hour. Normally with events the staff is there to WORK, greet and encourage guests to take part in the event as well as inform them of what else is happening for the special occasion(i.e. Sig. cocktails etc..) . Instead we felt VERY ignored, not only when we approached the tables outside of the restaurant but even more when we went inside and attempted to be seated. We walked in an NO ONE was at the front counter to greet and seat us. I literally picked up two menus and we sat ourselves. NO ONE noticed. Moments later a waiter appeared and rushed us to order, as if White Oak was about to close at 12:30p. We were so rushed and uncomfortable that we simply ordered the chicken tortilla soup in an effort to get in and get out! The servers were short with us as if this wasnt a good time to have come in for lunch because were having a party, or as if the restaurant was full. With there being possibly 4 other full tables in the entire restaurant we couldnt figure out what was going on and were super disappointed and frustrated at that point. When asking our server tell us more about whats was going on today (although we already knew) he couldnt tell us. But he did tell us that "we need to go out there [party area], if we had questions about that event".. We were DONE at that point but before I left I had to used the ladies room. As I walked out of the restaurant and down the hall to the ladies room I noticed the manager (role/title assumption - Asian female in horizontal stripped, pastel colored dress) was over the moon when the red bull girls arrived. which made me think, you should welcome your customers with that same enthusiasm because we are actually paying to be here!

Went for HRW. Slow service, incredibly slow. The mimosas were 90% orange juice and though the OJ was fresh it is mostly pulp. Our server was quite inattentive. We would have to search and search for him because he didnt come check on us. The food was pretty good. I had salmon eggs Benedict... It was a little salty but the salmon was smoked in house. The tortilla soup was really good and I had marscapone French toast which was really yummy. All in all I probably wont go back since the service was pretty bad. We even had to call the manager over to our table just to get the mimosa situation figured out.

Ive been there a few times but, I went there for lunch yesterday and paid $10 for a hardboiled egg and an extremely small salad. Apparently it is $10 no matter how much food you get from the salad bar.... SO FILL YOUR PLATES! Also, the staff is so slow. If you try to order from the to-go window you have to hunt someone down to take your order or stand and wait 10-15 minutes for them to look up and care that you are there. Again, the food is great but cmon... salad bars are salad bars... they are weighed out by what you buy. Also, focus workers... This is your JOB!

This place looked so cute. I thought it was going to be one of my go-to American Bistro places. I really wanted to like the food but it was very average. The zucchini frites for starters had no seasoning at all. Not even the aioli could save it. When you tell me "pistachio crusted" salmon, Im sorry, I have expectations and they were not met. I had the smores bread pudding and I was disappointed. Its just my opinion but bread pudding should be warm and my slice definitely came right out of the refrigerator. Well it was on my checklist. Check. Doubt I will return.

Went there on a Sunday for a brunch/Christmas gift exchange...good food and drinks, but the service was terrible. Waited 45 minutes for our first drink, after we were done eating, it took another 45 minutes for her to come to the table so we could request our bills. She then returned with a notepad and pen to start taking notes of what everyone had! After another LONG wait, she again returned to the table and several bills were incorrect. Ultimately, I had to ask the manager to get the waitress help in closing out our bills so we could finally leave.

I came in through the back door and was greeted by Sonia. While we waited for my family, I asked her for menu suggestions. I asked what was her favorite item on the menu. In which she replied, huevos rancheros . On her suggestion, we all ordered them. We were more than happy with the choice and the excellence service provided by Sonia. We had the bread pudding for dessert which was also delicious. We will be visiting again soon to try the dinner menu. Thanks Sonia, we appreciate your service. Wish all restaurants had servers like you.

I came here for Sunday Brunch (with reservations). I waited at the hostess stand for over 10 minutes while large families and screaming kids crowded around me. They serve fresh OJ here but be warned, they dont use it for their Mimosas. The food was okay. The service left much to be desired. I feel like we were always having to get her attention to refill our drinks and we had to flag her down to get our food order. I would go again but I wont be in a hurry to return.

Been coming to White Oak (used to be Zucchini) for almost 20 years now--one of my go-tos for consistently good breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Staff is fantastic and super accommodating. If your shopping in the Galleria its a great choice for a lunch break. Some of my favorite dishes include: "Charlie the tuna", Greek yogurt parfe, grilled salmon, fruit bowl, but never had anything I didnt like.

Another overpriced restaurant with mediocre food. We went here for my nieces birthday for lunch. Service was slow. All I ordered was some sliders and truffle fries. Sliders were so bland and had no flavor or taste I just ate one. Its like they omitted salt completely! The fries were pretty good thats about the only positive I have to say about this place. Dont waste your time or money!

I went here for the first time during HRW for brunch. Its a cute place on the 3rd floor of the Galleria near Neiman Marcus. The service was slow and the food was bland. It was the first weekend of HRW as well and I dont think they were prepared for the crowd they received that day. I wasnt impressed at all. There are a lot more food choices in the galleria.

Went today for Houston Restaurant Week and was blown away. I probably would have never stumbled on this place (its in the mall) but I would return. Great food, great service and a good atmosphere. You definitely forget youre in a mall. Also, I have food allergies and they were very accommodating about substitutes and did not up-charge for it. 5 stars!!
