food wise, generic: nothing horribly bad and nothing memorable. well, almost nothing memorable except price (+15% higher than woodbar and southside expresso) and lack of flavor, something both woodbar and southside (two nearby by local places) have in abundance. at Fix the chai tea latte was warm without flavor. the pastry was something in my mouth to chew on rather than something to taste. there was no offer to warm up the pastry, a pet peeve of mine, which might have increased my perception of any flavor. there were at least two staff working and it was not busy so i assume that warming up the pastries is not a standard. and no, i did not ask, i wanted to get their standard service as a base line. i rarely drink coffee (last time was march) and did not have any here but, based on the name Fix, i wouldnt expect too much. the name creates an image of caffeine addicts, some in obvious withdrawal, coming in to feed their addiction, hoping to stop or stave off their headache/shakes, rather than a drink to be savored and enjoyed. their sole criteria being lots of caffeine, flavor be damned. decor wise it does not match my mental image of a dimly lit addict focused less-than-legal pusher run distribution center. and to be very clear, i want to reinforce that i have ZERO reason to think that Fix has not met every legal requirement - just following up on the perception of the name as discussed above. i am sure every single requirement has been met by the owners of Fix (but wouldnt a dim, entrance at the end of a back alley only coffee shop with the same name be funny!?!?) the west wall is interesting, composed of thin end grain slices of 2x4 arranged in a mosaic type pattern. the only other aesthetic that stayed with me is the uncomfortable seating - not a welcoming place to camp out for a day of work, but perhaps that is the goal?? with both southpoint and woodbar so good and so close, i have not gone back to Fix. maybe i will give them another chance once they have been open for a few more months

Fix Coffeebar recently opened up in the heart of Montrose about 9-weeks ago (Late June 2016). I went on a Thursday with my girlfriend to get some work done. Its located in a small plaza shared with Tejas Boots and Sorrento Ristorante Italiano, and parking may be limited depending on the hours you come through. When we arrived, we noticed how quiet it was. There was light music playing, but it was a super chill atmosphere. We went up to order our drinks and encountered Gary. He was incredible and probably the most helpful barista I have ever come across in Houston. He explained all of the different coffee contraptions in the shop, the beans they had that week and why theyre different, and he even let me sample some drinks. I ended up going with the Cold Brewed Iced Coffee for $3.25. They brew this overnight without heat for over 16-hours, and Gary infuses it with tiny nitrogen bubbles to make it extra creamy and rich without sacrificing flavor. He even served it to me in a stout glass! Was I drinking a beer, or a coffee? Either way, I loved it. This was the best cold brew Ive had in Houston. We will definitely be coming back! Pros: -quiet, chill coffee shop -private parking lot -free Wi-Fi (use: FIXGUEST_B w/ password: coffeebar) Cons: -none

I try to go to all the local coffee shops. I love lattes and iced lattes. I do not add sugar. So, for me, the ideal drink is one that has no bitterness. I was eager to try Fix because they are the top rated coffee shop on Yelp. I had never heard of them before, but I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I ordered an iced latte and a hot latte so I could try both. The iced latte was great! It was creamy and not bitter at all. The hot latte, however, was so hot that it burned my tongue when I tried to drink it. I am not exaggerating when I say that an hour after I ordered the drink, it was still too hot to drink safely. I was not able to start drinking the hot latte until about 1.5 hours after I ordered it. Of course, by that time all the froth was gone and the latte was a bit old. I have not ever been served a latte that hot before, ever (even at Starbucks). I think most people want to be able to drink their beverage immediately after ordering, and they probably dont want to burn their tongue. Maybe my experience was an oddity, but latte temperature seems to be a pretty basic and important thing. I expected more from the highest rated coffee shop in Houston.

Loved the vibe of this place. The set up, the decor, even the music was great. Tons of seating, a little close together, but ample options. Music was coffee house with a little extra something. Only shortcoming was the amount of time it took to get my Honey Lavender Latte. The wait was a bit excessive, like 10 minutes or more. There was only one guy working the bar and register and that was pretty horrible. I order a cookie and latte and was done eating the cookie long before I walked up to remind the barista I was still waiting for my latte. Overall, the Honey Lavender Latte was good, but Common Bonds is better. It was more like a Honey Latte with a Lavender flower design on top. Still a pretty cool coffee bar, nothing special.

This is my new favorite coffee shop! Everywhere I go, something is wrong or missing. Not Fix. Fix really has it all. Its got a calm, relaxed atmosphere perfect for talking with a close friend or working on your laptop for hours in (yes there are outlets). Im not a coffee drinker, so I cant really comment on the coffee, but the tea here is excellent! Ive also had a chai tea latte here and it was good. Not too sweet like some places make them. The pastries are amazing. Im so glad I dont have to settle anymore! For those of you who care... The coffee they brew is Java Pura. The tea they brew is Rishi. Their pastries come from Weights and Measures.

Im blessed to live within walking distance of 8 quality coffeeshops. Despite this, I never found one that just clicked as the place I want to work. Enter: Fix. A small inside but warm and inviting with ample meeting and great wifi. The owners are super friendly and knowledgeable , which leads to hands down the best coffee in town. The nitro cold brew is particularly noteworthy. Hope we get a few more dining options as time passes but an acceptable selection for now. Ill be back here always!

This place is great! I am not a coffee connoisseur but I do appreciate great service. The two people working the counter have been kind every time Ive come in. And everything Ive tasted so far has been fantastic! Of course parking is limited, youre in Montrose! It is totally understandable as to why they only have To-Go parking. You might have to actually walk a little from street parking? NOT A BIG DEAL. Plus, they give you a discount for riding your bike. WIN.

Probably the best coffee shop in houston... based on the quality of their drinks: manual brews and espresso-based...also, they have an outstanding customer service. I highly recommend the "experience" treat, where they give you two drinks of the same "coffee": an small Chemex and an Aeropress, both from the same beans... so, you get to try the differences between those two brewing mechanisms. Really awesome for those coffee geeks!!
