My wife and I had dinner at Table 13 on a Sunday evening before a holiday. We arrived at 7:30p and the restaurant was about 60% full. Our party had already been seated and served drinks in the ten minute gap between their arrival and ours. The exterior of the building does not instill confidence: the windows are blacked out and have menu categories written across them in yellow vinyl - steaks, lobster, etc. The interior, however, is quite nice. There are atom chandeliers running down the seating area and large, framed pinup drawings on the walls. According to one employee, the pin ups have been touched up to change their rating from NC-17 to PG-13. The menu is standard steak house fare with a couple of exceptions like Steak Diane and Beef Wellington. We shared the calamari and escargot for starters which both arrived warm and in an appropriate amount of time. They were good - no better or worse than most. They accurately set the stage for the balance of the meal - good, but nothing exciting. We followed with the wedge salad for me and the lobster bisque for her. The salad was medium sized, plenty of dressing and good cheese. Perfectly acceptable if not memorable. The bisque was good: hot, mildly spicy with recognizable pieces of lobster meat. Again, acceptable but not memorable. They have a good selection of entrees including sea bass, bone-in pork chops and steaks in addition to the less common options mentioned earlier. We both selected the 16oz ribeye. Our steaks arrived hot and well cooked at medium rare. Mine arrived a little towards the medium end of the scale but not objectionably so. In keeping with the theme of the meal, they were good but not exceptional. The table shared the creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and lobster mac and cheese. Of the wide variety dishes we sampled, I would give the mac and cheese the highest rating. It had good sized pieces of lobster meat and had enough spice to set it apart from the middle of the road path traveled by the other dishes. All in all, I was completely satisfied with the experience for the price. The food, decor and service were all good. The problem is that Im generally left not feeling much of anything, one way or another. I dont eat out as frequently as I once did and I generally select restaurants based on some individual greatness whether its a particular dish, ambiance or fantastic service and Table 13 didnt have any of those things to me. I have a friend whose wife adores Beef Wellington and I expect this to their new go-to special occasion restaurant for that reason (and because the only other Dallas area restaurant that serves it is the Old Warsaw which may currently be the worst currently operating restaurant in the city). I dont know the table number where my next ribeye will be served, but it wont likely be 13.

I dont do it on a regular basis but Im not a stranger to "fine dining". My family doesnt indulge often but when we do, we indulge. Table 13 was a first time experience with me getting to do something nice for my father for a change and it was just really important to me. Working the night shift and not being a constant patron of places of this level, I had to depend on the Google ratings and I could not have ended up happier. The restaurant was elegant without being ostentatious. The "Vegas" style mentioned was portrayed with enough class that the mark they aimed for, I felt, was struck. My father and stepmom were both very pleased with the food and overall ambiance (as was I) with it being dim but not "dark" and the piano being at a level that allowed pleasant conversation without leaning forward constantly. The food was excellent and had an "ownership" from the chef and his or her staff. The lobster bisque was different from most anywhere Ive ever had it and was also whipped in its creamy texture and just a few lovely bits of lobster to make it perfect. My filet was perfectly cooked (arrived a SHADE cool but hey it happens) and the lobster was great. My fathers Salmon was cooked perfectly and my stepmom enjoyed her meal thoroughly. Lastly the service was peerless. Im embarrassed to say I dont recall the gentlemans name that waited on us but I never looked up wishing I could find him NOR did he hover annoyingly. Having waited tables in my youth I can attest to the fact that this is a difficult balance to achieve and I hold no shame in saying I tipped him well for his trouble. In good part because he certainly never made me and my family FEEL like we were any trouble to him as so many manage to do in dining these days. All in, Table 13 provided an excellent Fathers Day experience for me and my family and there is nothing more important to me. Ergo they have my thanks and will certainly have my business again when we choose to indulge.

Nice Layout with the booths, but the NOISE was awful..could not hear the person sitting across from me due to the noise. Throw in a piano player with the volume up and the noise starts to wear on you quickly. There were only a dozen or so people in the place. The waiter was obviously a Newbie and kept interrupting my party to ask questions. Seemed he was getting pressure from the kitchen or management to Move the Table quickly. The salad that was ordered had No Taste and when asked by the waiter if he could bring a side of Mosaic Vinegar he quickly snapped they do not have any...seem he took offense to being asked and sent the manager over to our table to offer a raspberry vinegar then came back to ask us what the his manager said to our suggestion to have mosaic vinegar. On the UpSide..the filet mignon was superb. However, the shrimp scampi was ordinary with the shrimp being a little tough. The martini ordered came out in a sherbet glass and the margarita came out in a water glass. They need to do something with the acoustics if they plan on staying open. Too many other places to going the immediate area that are quieter.
