I was really disappointed with this place, heres the run down: 1. Food: Overall the food was sub par. I had the ribs, my wife had a brisket sandwich. The ribs were ok, nothing terrible about them but really nothing to make them stand out either. The brisket just plane sucked. Taste was subpar, not very bar-b-quey, almost was like they just threw a roast in the oven without any spices and threw it onto a sandwich. This place is cafeteria style so you pick your sides after they throw some meat on your plate. They also give you a sorry piece of bread they claim is Texas toast. I chose potato salad and green beans mixed with carrots. The green beans and carrots were good, the potato salad was nothing to write home about (honestly the stuff you get pre packaged from the supermarket tastes about the same). My wife had one side of mashed potatoes (mashed potatoes and gravy are pretty much her favorite thing). She said that instant potatoes with powder gravy would probably be better than this restaurants potatoes. Also, you only have one choice of BBQ sauce (at least that was offered to me), its pretty bad BBQ sauce. It tastes like they made some tomato soup and then added some spices, pretty bleh. Overall I would give the food a 2/10 rating. 2. Service: This place is cafeteria style. You are supposed to order your meat, they throw it onto a plate and then you grab sides for it yourself, then pay. Being my first time to this place I didnt really know the system and the employees didnt really let me know what was going on. Once they throw a slab of meat on your plate you pick your sides and pay. The first thing out of an employees mouth was to my wife, his greeting was "hello lady", the next guy followed up "hi lady". That was all the interaction we really had with the employees besides telling them what kind of meat we wanted. We ate in the restaurant, once done you have these trays you figure you have to get rid of. After walking around the restaurant once one of the employees let me know that I leave the tray and plates on the table. 3. Other: Overall the place seemed clean, we were the only people in the place at around 6:00 PM. Price wise we had to spend $28.00 for our sub par food. Overall: I would not recommend this place to anybody. The food is not that good and the prices make it seem even worse. The customer service was minimal and they dont really tell you how ordering works. The customer service is lacking and made my wife feel weird.

Omg yesterday I ordered from them, but the thing that stood out the most was their banana pudding. Its freshly made and taste just like family homemade banana pudding. Its that real deal southern kind. Soooo today orderd 4. UPDATE: Took down from 5 stars to 3. I ordered from them several more times after giving them 5 stars. I ordered banana pudding for me and a patient...ok 2 for me 1 for patient. I decided to eat one at home before going to work. I was excited to relive my childhood favorite food. I took a bite and...it didnt taste right at all. I looked down and no bananas just pudding and very small hints of waffers/cookies. And I saw white stuff in it...at first Im like did someone spit in it? I touched it and felt like sugar. So threw all three out too,but my money wasted. Had faith again few days later. Banana pudding same white sugar thrown in, no bananas, and tiny hints of the waffers/cookies. My guess is that there pudding taste so great that they found ways to cut corners to make it faster...so will never ever order banana pudding from them in life. I spent close to 100$ within a week and a half due to mainly their pudding!! I had grubhub visits almost every 2 days. I did order their bake potato...one time was average...the next average again in taste...so no more of their larger bake potato. Their 1/3 burger with cheese is very good. Ordered it 3 times. And twice two of them, but kinda pricey for a one patty burger thats close to size of a whooper. 6$ for a one patty 1/3 burger...burger king for 7$ a large whooper with drink and fries. If the pudding was right they would have me for life. I was obsessed and close to broke! I recently learned to make banana pudding for the first time in my life and it was good! I still think this a good place overall.

I am a 100% impartial reviewer. Lets get that out of the way first. Back Country Bbq has been around for a long time in the City of Dallas with its original location (The Pig Stand) off of Ferndale and Northwest Hwy. I am a 51 year old man and I remember my dad proudly taking me there in the 70s. I am really glad he did. I eat here whenever I am in the area and I am always proud to recommend this place to friends, family and literally anyone asking where the best bbq is in Dallas. Frank (owner) and Ernest (main bbq man) are simply great people who understand good bbq. I read the 2 recent poor reviews. They are bogus. Go to the 3 stacks (also a great place) Bbq reviews and you will see very similar reviews which also both happen to promote the place in deep ellum and the other one in oak cliff. Here is the REAL DEAL on this place: FANTASTIC & consistently good beef Mouth watering ribs Great links The BEST baked potatoes with beef on them I have ever had fantastic sides (try the corn obrien) unique and tasty bbq sauce. Just writing this review has put the bug in me and I plan to grab my kids after work today and go get some awesome bbq.

Oh geez...when you have been somewhere like Pecan Lodge and Slow Bone this place is a joke. I ordered Ribs and Brisket with two side orders. The brisket was okay. It was sliced very thin and somewhat tender. Not juicy at all. It was very very dry. The ribs were decent just not enough. They were tender but small and just not enough for someone like me. I asked the cashier about the amount of ribs and he said they did it by weight. Really. I got plenty of brisket though. I got beans and potato salad for sides. The beans were decent. They were actually not bad. They had a little kick to them. The potato salad looked and tasted like grimey sweet oatmeal with pickels and relish. I did not finish it. Just being honest. If you want some good barbecue, stick to the places serious about their barbecue. This place is not for you. I would not recommend it. I must say the people are friendly though.

My mom brought home the pork, chopped beef, and ribs. Along with that, we had the spicy beans, coleslaw, and fries. I was excited to see the food since it was recommended to us by a friend. I am a huge fan of BBQ, so I had high hopes. I am sad to say that it was a huge disappointment. It became clear that our friend did not have good taste in food. The meat was of poor quality, and it was dry. The fries were soggy and tasteless. It is difficult to mess up fries. The sauce was another disappointment. The coleslaw was bland and soggy as well. The beans were actually okay. The food did not settle down with me, and I ended up getting sick. It was a waste of $25. My mother and I both wish we could get our money back... I am sorry If I seem harsh, but I am simply sharing my experience and thoughts.
