Ive eaten at a lot of sushi places and even worked at one back in the day. I ordered a fried tiger eye roll to share with my husband. Every time I have ordered one from other places it comes with the whole roll fried in tempura batter. Instead, I received a roll with just the inside fried. Usually, the outside fried rolls are still raw in the middle but the extra crunch makes it delicious. What I got at charming cafe was a plain tiger eye roll with the salmon inside fried. It looked like someone took canned salmon and packed it in the middle of a roll. I took my order back inside and asked if I could get something else and was treated like I was insulting someone. Obviously, Charming Cafe does not prepare rolls how other sushi restaurants prepare theirs. I explained that we were wanting a roll that was fried on the outside in tempura batter but was told they only had one roll with it. The roll they had that was fried on the outside had shrimp in it. The owners wife started talking in a different language to her husband and sounded aggravated. I explained that my husband cant eat shrimp and the waitress quickly said "well you dont have to get shrimp in it, you cant get something else." Her tone and facial expression seemed a little rude and at that point I decided to leave. No one made an attempt to explain on the phone how they fried their rolls. The owners or the waitress didnt offer any kind of suggestion or remedy. I just felt like I was annoying them. Sorry, I like to get what Im paying for! On my the way out I just said "nevermind, thanks" and the (man) owner said "thank you, try again next time." That statement made me aggravated. Im not going to "try again." If you make your rolls different than traditional sushi places you need to explain that. How about stating that the rolls are made inside out? Or reverse fried? The food usually sucks anyways but is decent for Crosby, considering. I wont be back.

Food and service were great,actually all the staff were so friendly, but I gave the 2 stars because I found out that the servers share their tips and I worked as a waitress for 10 years and I really know the struggle that you deal with, and also they are lazy servers that they dont take care of their customers and our server George was on top of his game, I make him know that he was a great server and knowing that my tip was not going straight to him it really made me sad, for the owner: you should change your policy its not fair and maybe you also take a part on those tips too...who knows. Not going back ever again.

Awesome Food! Service is the best you will ever find! Manager and staff are excellent. Place is very clean. Everything on the menu is delicious! Only draw back is that sodas are canned, so no free refills. But the food and service make up for it! On the other side, of the argument though, even though there arent free refills the sodas are very cheap and I spend less on drinks there than at other places. Give them a shot, and you will go there for life!

Love it here! If anyone has a chance and likes sushi try the Tokyo roll! Oh man it is amazing! The food is always great and fresh. The staff is always sweet and I love the fact that the kids can be them selves here. I always see them with their piercings and gauges and what not and they are the sweetest kids. I just wish they could keep the tips but they might get paid better. Overall awesome awesome awesome!!!!!!

Food did not match pictures... When we asked the waiter she said oh yes I know the food does not looking the pictures we dont have all the ingredients ... never returning again.. paid for the ticket and left the meal behind

Love the wonton soup unlike other places i have tried their soup and its nothing compared to here . Hidden gem i must say . Great service . They attend you right away. Fried sushi is awesome aswell as the teriyaki chicken !

Absolutely the WORST place in houston. In my opinion, anyone who thinks this place is good obviously, has never really had good, let alone great sushi. Service was OK food was terrible. Would give -10 stars if I could.

Its a hidden gem. Wonderful portions fresh and amazing sushi! Very Friendly and authentic Japanese food. Quiet environment friendly service and on point!! Definitely recommend to all sushi lovers!!
