you have to wonder sometimes if good food is enough. My wife and I have been here on 3 seperate and spaced occasions - the service is absolutely horrible. Maybe this isnt unusual for an Asian restaurant, but what is horrible, is when I noticed that they overcharged me by $4.00 on my credit card statement, I went in and talked to the owner about it - he handed me a $4, and told me to have a nice day - no "sorry about that" or anything - I was so shocked I asked him, "is this something that happens regularly?" and he just stood there with a smirk on his face - thats when I knew -this is no mistake -People, look at your statements, this guy and his wife are Thieves. Since they took over the place, Ive noticed business is way down, now I know why. Dont support these crooks, no matter how decent the food may be.

We had a sushi craving on a Sunday at around 2pm, nothing was open... We internet searched and found this place. Upon arriving we saw a parking lot in bad need of re-striping, a faded sign and dilapidated exterior. I recited the title adage and we had the courage to walk in... and were blown away! The service was efficient and friendly, even though we were the only customers there. The 3 sushi rolls we ordered were all very tasty. And the plum wine ice cream was to die for; I didnt even know such a thing existed. The interior of the restaurant was old, but well preserved and very clean. We came away impressed, and will return in the future.

Walked in and hardly anyone there. Sat for 15 minutes before the waitress showed up with water--which none of us ordered. She left before she could give her a drink order. Place was dead. Gaggle of waitstaff chatting and no one was assisting us. Decided if we didnt receive service after 3 minutes wed get up and leave . . . which we did. Only then did we get the attention of waitstaff. Would never return to again. Not sure where these descriptions of attentive waitstaff are from, and no the prices are not great for sushi.

We went there last weekend to celebrate my daughters 20th birthday. This restaurant has always been one of my husbands favorite spots despite its feeling more Korean than Japanese each time we visit. LOL. No matter - the food is good. The hotpot for 2 is actually a decent deal, the sashimi quite thick and fresh and the specialty sushi is good (I recommend Bigfoot). So even though we do end up spending about $160 for a family of 5 - I would say it is somewhat worth the splurge.

Ive only been here for lunch, so I would like to come back to try their sushi. When I came, I had the Bento Box. It came with a protein (I dont remember which one I got), tempura fried veggies, including sweet potatoes, which were delicious, goyza, salad, miso soup, and 6 pieces of California Roll. It was good. Not amazing. The walkway to get in is a bridge over water with giant goldfish, which is a nice touch. Overall, I would like to come back to try the pure sushi.

First of all, the koi fish pond is majestic as you enter this beautiful gem. The service and staff are super welcoming and friendly. As soon as you place your orders your delicious plates keep on coming. It was the ultimate sushi experience for me and my friends. The 20 nigiri combination had my taste buds partying like the 4th of July. I definitely recommend everyone to experience this Japanese and Korean restaurant once or twice. Youre welcome in advance.

I used to go to this place for lunch every month when I worked near by. The place looks a little ghetto and strip-mall-ish from the outside... but theyve actually got a cool koi pond and interior. The fish is always fresh & where else can you get 2 rolls (both delicious, not cheap California rolls) + 5 fresh generous pieces of sushi soup + salad for less than $10? Definitely a cool pace and good value.

This is my favorite restaurant in town, and has been for years. SO under-appreciated. The staff is exceptional, the rolls are fabulous, and the atmosphere is how sushi restaurants used to be in the good old days - and still should be. Traditional floor seating and a gorgeous koi pond with a bridge sets this restaurant apart from all of the rest. I LOVE YOU ICHIBAN!

Decent, but on the pricier end for what you get. The quality of the fish is generally fine, though the quality of the wrapping is on the low-end. Salmon roll ($7.50): Standard. Spicy tuna roll ($8.95): A spot-on rendition of the classic. Spicy scallop roll ($8.95): Pretty good as well. White blanko roll ($13): Good, the roasted garlic goes well with it.

The sushi here is just downright amazing! My two best friends live in Austin so when I come to visit, this is usually on the list. Their service is exceptional and the food is just amazing and the ambiance is very romantic and personal. Be sure to ask for a boat if youre ordering more than a few rolls - the presentation is pretty cool!

I stumbled upon it, I wanted chinese but the chinese restaurant went out of business so I tried this, it was great! I had chicken with some sort of shredded vegetables with miso soup, I loved it, the atmosphere of the restaurant was quaint, it was around 11:00 am and the service was good and I would definitely go back there.

amazing staff waitress knew menu very well even the spicing was amazing ordered spicy bulgogi it had the perfect amount of heat/flavor I have gotten used to when I order something spicy it either is not spicy at all or the spice is hot with no other purpose but to burn your mouth this had heat but the spice was for flavor

Ichiban is such an enjoyable experience. Kazumi always seats us in a booth because we prefer it. The ambiance is nice, food is always fantastic and we leave much much happier than when we arrived. There is even something for those who dont enjoy sushi! :) Two thumbs up from Barret & Ben

Great mix of Japanese/Korean. Driving past its easy to miss, but going in the interior is fantastic. The booths are very nice and spacious. Good sushi and good prices. Never had to wait for a table and the prices were very agreeable. Staff has always been very friendly and helpful.

Ive been here probably 10 or 15 times and have loved it every time. The atmosphere is really cool, you can sit on the ground table if you want which is fun. Also, their happy hour is fantastic. Same roles as the regular menu just cheaper. I love coming here during happy hour.

This is a nice place that my friend and I came out to eat randomly. Despite my friend not liking sushi we both walked out of there with great 1st impressions. The food is great and the people are nice as well. I highly recommend this to anyone whos in the Austin area.

Wonderful food and service presentation is breath taking. I had the Shashimi chef selection. My guy had several sushi rolls one in particular "White Blanco" is just divine. it made his special day spectacular. Its a regular stop for us.
