The selection is great. Seafood and meat counter have great products and service. Employees seem friendly. Two issues: -the pharmacy really needs a policy update. Last week, I had to pick up insulin syringes (my dachshund has had diabetes for over 2 years). I was greeted by the pharmacy tech and her response to me asking for a box of syringes was, to quote her, "what are you gonna do with them?" This was asked with obvious suspicion, snark, and derisive judgement. They had the prescription information from my vet on file so I was able to get the syringes for my pup (I had experienced this same issue previously). However, the whole exchange left me with a bad taste in my mouth. This policy/act of the tech is needlessly prohibitive. What does this mean for a newly diagnosed diabetic who may not know what they need? For an economically disadvantaged person who has had a diagnosis of diabetes but no means to see a doctor regularly? This creates a barrier to needed medical supplies, and those with limited means/knowledge are most at risk from this policy. Additionally, much like abstinence only sex education, this policy does nothing to curtail the behavior it seeks to address (intravenous illegal drug use). The only outcome of this policy/action by the tech is people being placed at risk due to being denied access to needed medical supplies. -secondly, the aisles are much too narrow and the layout creates many bottlenecks.

Worst HEB experience in all my years in Austin... Ive been here since 2003 and have ALWAYS had a pleasant experience. Whenever I had a mishap or mistake from HEB (like a cake ordered that was wrong) they redeemed themselves by refunding my money and apologizing. So again, never any gripes... until I visited this HEB. I decided to go during my lunch break to gather the few missing items from my grocery list I missed a few days ago, needed a few things. PACKED. Understandable it IS the day before Thanksgiving so I went along with the crowd... asked an employee where packets of gravy were and was responded with "I dont know" and thats it. Ok... fine.... maybe new people to help with the Thanksgiving rush.... now Im a little aggravated but still smiling. I get to the cashier line... number 15 - one person in front of me and it took the cashier and the girl bagging his items 15 MINUTES TO FINISH! He didnt have a stockpile he had a few things but the lovely bag girl was too busy flirting with another HEB employee to care about bagging the items quickly much less correctly!! 10 people in line behind me and all this girl could think to do is CONTINUE TO HAVE HER conversation with some other HEB worker instead of doing her DAMN JOB! Never again shopping here. Disgraceful.

I recently (Monday, Febuary 22nd 2016) cashed a payroll check at this HEB. To the order of 812$. The funds were correct and I left. On Febuary 28th 2016 I went to make a purchase at a Walmart, only to find the note that I had elected to use ($100) was counterfeit. I made sure to log contact info and the reason it was suspect on a sheet from the store. Later that morning I went to the location in question. I asked to speak to a manager. I was to speak with Gary about my issue. Before fully explaining the issue Gary immediately cut me off saying there was nothing he could do. I discussed the issue and was making valid points as to why the store was at fault. However, he would hear none of it and kicked me out of the store. I asked for a line to contact the district manager and he gave me a toll free number. That was conveniently not open on Sundays. Thus slowing discussing it with the business. After being kicked out of the business, having faced a rude manager with no intent of doing any customer service I began to explore my options, Since the business in question refuses to assist in even an apology or sympathy. Apparent;y blaming me. Not only is this not customer service, it is not professional and somewhat accusatory.

As we live close to this grocery store, we go there once in a while. We had a small trolly with us yesterday in which we put some stuff and we took everything out of it and put them on the counter. But a cashier in her 50s told her male colleague to look into the trolly to make sure that nothing was in there. On the one hand we could understand their action, but on the other, we felt somewhat offended. Because they treated us like a thief who might have stolen something from the very cheap grocery store. I was left speechless with anger. Maybe those employees who work in these kinds of stores are form a lower social-class and havnt been much educated or are living from hand to mouth. Thats why they think that people could steal something from their cheap supermarket. Otherwise, the manager didnt train them in a good way. So we have decided not to come again to this place because we dont want to be treated like that. Now we understand why our close friends recommended other grocery stores. We should have listened to them.

I generally liked this store- good selection, newer store. I actually drove a little bit further to get to this one bc I liked it. But, I was in there several weeks ago. A bird messed on me inside the store. Rather than checking on and helping me out, the managers claimed they would have to kill the bird or "shoot it out". I left feeling gross and unsettled. I know my $300/month doesnt make much difference to HEB, but a little compassion for me and the bird would have been appreciated. I dont buy anything open (fruit, veggies) from HEB at this point. Seems like a health concern.

It is a good little H.E.B. that you know. I go there for my regular grocery shopping. They have good selection of produce, which i like. Seems like they have a high turnaround with cashier folks, i never see same people for a month in a row. Beware of the parking lot! It is tight, and my car got bumped into with another car, hence insurance claims, etc.. Avoid Sundays, and rush hour 6-8pm during the weekdays, it becomes like a mad house. There is a Randalls across the street, and it is always empty...

This used to be my favorite HEB. Smaller, but they have everything. I usually shop at 10:30 at night. The past couple of months there has been a smell of someone burning incense. When I get out of the store my cloths have that odor. The smell is from the restroom area where I think the lounge for the employees is. In addition, the stocking crew at night used to be so accomadable. I should be able to go down all of the aisles and if I cant they should move their carts.

They discontinued my coffee. Darn. First they discontinued the 1.75 oz Espresso Roast (Cafe Ole). I fell back on the 1.75 oz French Roast, and now they discontinued it, too. I was going to tell the service desk, but the store was super busy, so I got out of there. Im assuming they read all of these review, and will see this :-) Just to be clear, I O-N-L-Y use the 1.75 oz, because so that it remains vacuum sealed right up until I brew it.
