I ate lunch several times in Swagruha ignoring the usual rudeness of the main lady there. Sometimes when I am not that hungry, I just order a samaso and the Mango Smoothie all the time feeling unwelcome. I thought it was her nature. This is time my wife ordered a Dosa which comes with idli and there was a strand of hair inside the idli. When my wife went to show this to them, she just trashed the plate and shut the inner door on her face and no one returned for a while. When they returned, instead of speaking courteously, the lady started arguing. "How will we come to know, you ate it and are now saying?" My wife was calm and replied, "Isnt it funny, how will I come to know before eating?" She retorted in a condescending tone, "Okay, okay, you want your money, I will give you your money. How much you paid?" Oh my God, did we come there to get back money? Offering to be refunded is definitely the least any business would do, however as customers we definitely deserve to be treated courteously. Overall what happened was not at all how it should be when talking to a customer. My wife had to tell her that getting six dollars back was not our business, but as a customer we deserve to be treated courteously and deserve an apology. She hurriedly just uttered the apology fearing whether other people around would hear whats happening and again, going inside, slammed the door.

I was at Swagruha on Feb. 27th and had late lunch. Had been to Swagruha several times for the best south indian food. I got on google to write a review, finally. I was surprised to to Asish review. I was there in line with my friends, when this incident took place. My version! This place is like a food court type restaurant at a mall. While we were in the line, this indian lady went inside the restaurant through employees only door with an empty plate (ate the entire dosa) and wanted her money in a threatening way. The lady at the counter told her, that she was sorry, and will make fresh dosa and idli, but she wanted her money, got her money! Her husband sitting at a table in the food court, listening to his wife wrote a review. What an Idiot! We told the lady at the counter, you have to careful with the indians and gujjus for their cheap tricks. Feb 16, 2012 sr979 review. Sat for a long time? This is not a sit in restaurant. You be the judge!!!! I was at the night market on 8/17/12 and had a Dosa, it was the best. The service is Great.

Today I had the opportunity to eat at Swagruha in Nashville. I must say, being indian and traveling extensively across the US, this is a place where you can easily appreciate a authentic indian dish. As you will find the selections are small, this is because these are the dishes best cooked and served. Everything was mouth-watering delicious and I will recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Nashville area. I will add, the owners are very kind, and she took away from her time to check on our food and we mentioned it was very tasty and spicy. She brought us yogurt on the side, complimentary. This is what I call good service. This is a place to eat, cafeteria style. Not a normal restaurant. You order, and there is a general sitting area for all the near by restaurants. Food was nothing short of superb.

Unbelievable taste at an unbelievable price. We have eaten here many times in the past and brought along quite a few to eat with us as well. The consensus is always the same. The best. Hands Down. If you like hot then this is the place to go, get the goat curry (amazing flavor) and the Chili chicken. I always grab two cheap bottles of water while enjoying the heat! While the atmosphere leaves much to be desired the quality and value more than compensate. Oh yeah... they close at 4PM on sat. and sun. so make it a lunch!

I eat once a week from this place. Food is good, however beware of eating mutton/goat/lamb curry here. The last two time i eaten this curry, I have gotten sick. I am guessing that they do not throw out left over or not properly refrigirate meat. Sanitary practices is questionable, kitchen help is touching food without gloves. At times I find stale food. This is for the owner, if you fix and serve good food, I will remove this review and write a good review.

I ordered the basmati rice, chile chicken, and the curry chicken knowing they would be "hot"; especially given the bright orange color of the curry chicken. The lady serving the food even chuckled and asked if I knew it would be hot. I was not disappointed, it was hot but not at all as bad as I feared. Even with the heat the flavors were quite distinct and varried between the 3 foods. Will return next time Im in the area.

I ordered over the phone and they said it will ready in 10 minutes. I got there in 20 minutes and when I started asking about how log was it sitting on the counter the lady started scolding and said it was not her problem if I got there late. I didnt even say anything thing at all about food sitting there so long. Very very very bad customer service. I will never go there again and recommend the same to all.

I have not been to the restaurant but I did get to try their food at the bonnaroo festival! The workers were very kind and helpful and let me try samples of the vegan dishes. I got the channa masala (chickpea soup) and their spinach dal over rice. The channa masala was my favorite! So delicious and very kind staff, would definitely stop by their real restaurant when Im in Tennessee again!

Ive eaten here nearly once a week for going on 2 years. For your money, there isnt a better spot for lunch in all of Nashville (if you typically enjoy Indian food, you will absolutely love the chicken tikka). There are lots of delicious options, lots of spice if you want it, and very generous portions. The fact that its local and family owned is also a big plus.

Hands down the best Indian food in Nashville. If youre a vegan (like me) or vegetarian you have to try their vegetable korma. I promise it will leave you in a food coma :-)
