Ill start by saying that the food is good. Nothing bad to say about that. Its probably not the best around, but its a solid choice. However, there is room for improvement regarding how things are run. On a busier than usual weekend, the line was nearly out the door, the wait was long, and some items were no longer available. Thats okay, and I expected and prepared for that. Apparently you can sit at the bar and order food, bypassing the line. I didnt see anyone do this, but it said so on the menu, which you werent presented with until you were nearly at the front of the line. Good thing I looked online and found the menu, so I was ready when it was my turn to order. I ordered the Burnt Ends Platter, which came with grits and a choice of side. I saw the grits were crossed out on the board, indicating that they were out, but I was not offered a choice for substitution. Its my fault that I wasnt more assertive and didnt ask what I could get instead. Still, my order made it through probably three employees, none of whom questioned the lack of a second side. I did end up paying for an additional side of cornbread. After you order, you get your choice of water/tea/soda included with the meal. Its nice that you dont have to order drinks separately, theyre just included. There was no ice though, which was unfortunate because warm tea isnt so refreshing in a hot, crowded building. I saw employees carrying buckets of ice to the bar throughout the night, so I wonder if the ice was taken from the machine to serve the bar. When the food came, they gave my girlfriend the wrong side, but didnt have any more of what she ordered. She still enjoyed it though. My friends meal came out without any of the sides that he ordered. The person bringing the food said they were out of both, and had him pick others. My friend ordered the same side that he originally picked, so they werent out. There seems to be a disconnect between the kitchen, servers, and cashiers. Overall, Id go back when its not busy, but might avoid this place during peak hours.

OK, Edleys BBQ is very well known. Got that. We came here because of its fame. We decided to eat BBQ in Nashville and its one of two places we tried. The pulled pork is a bit dry and not a lot of flavor without the sauce. The dry rub was also dry and also without a lot of flavor. The hot chicken is like chicken supreme overly fried and not particularly spicy. The BBQ chicken was already de-boned when we got it, which is kind of strange in my book. It tasted OK but was a bit dryer than expected. The atmosphere is excellent and there is nothing to complain about in terms of service. If you want a beer, you cant order it when you order the food. You have to go to the bar to get it... not very efficient from customers point of view. The selection of beer, however, was excellent. We caught happy hour so it was two beers for the price of one ($5). The other BBQ place we went to for lunch had better food.

Overall the food is pretty good. and Im a bit of a BBQ snob. The shredded pork has a decent balance of inside (soft) and outside (bark) meat.I also like the fact that they did not have 20 different BBQ sauces. They had two and both were a 6.5 out of 10. I wish I could have tried the slaw, but I did get the baked beans. Personally, I dont think the beans had much flavor and they should put borscht (heavy pork bark) in the beans for more flavor. They almost tasted like they came up straight out of the can with very little seasoning added. There is no table service, yet they still put a line on the bill for a tip. Overall, I would go back to meet friends if they wanted to go. I probably wouldnt go just because I was craving BBQ.Lastly, parking can be a challenge here because the parking lot is shared with other businesses (my favorite being The Filling Station).

When I walked in the door, I was not greeted or given any idea of what was going on. BUT when I finally asked why no one was there to take my order I was told that I had to walk to the counter to place my order. Lack of communication. Apart from that, I ordered the Tuck Special and Im still thinking about it almost a year later. I ordered it in July 2016, and in March 2017 In wishing I could have another. Brisket, pimiento cheese, and an over easy egg. I dont do over easy eggs, but I wanted the full experience. Amazing. I loved every bit of it and slurped it right off my fingers when I was done. I would return in a heartbeat--even with poor service/communication. Just let me taste the Tuck one more time! This is almost as much of a must to stop as Charlie Vergos ribs (best ribs ever).

Friend recommended this place and a few others as Im from out of state. It wasnt bad but I was pretty let down as I figured its the south and you hear so much about its BBQ. They only serve brisket at lunch which I have never came across at a BBQ joint so got the ribs. They were mediocre. I could easily taste the nutmeg and cinnamon in the rub. Sauce was sub par. Potato salad had way too much vinegar. The mac and cheese was good. The only thing that redeemed this place for me was the pecan pie which was really good. Unfortunately I mainly came here for BBQ and was more impressed with dessert.

Hot chicken was great. I usually, well, never like grits...until today. They were a bit spicy and cheesy and awesome. The wife got a couple different tacos; one catfish and one pork. She really liked both. The best part was the service. I am guessing she is the manager but she was offering people samples of the sides a they were waiting in line. Also, she gave us a small bushwhacker. Never had one before and it was amazing. Before we left she hooked us up with a side of the awesome grits. Next time we are in Nashville we are going back there.

It would be some of the best tasting food in town if you could ever get what you want. They are CONSTANTLY sold out of the food I want. Edleys has a very difficult time keeping food stocked here for some reason. Its very frustrating when I take a trip to Edleys and they are sold out of everything. In fact like 3 of the last 5 times I went there they were sold out of Bananna Pudding, and last time they were sold out of catfish. Not sure I will be wasting my time going here anymore since they always seem to be out of food.

So Ill admit this is a strange review: The Burnt Ends were good, but not amazing. The Mac and Cheese was a little disappointing. The grits were great! BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THEIR HOT CHICKEN. Im not from Nashville though and Im not a hot chicken expert so I cant attest if its the best in town, however I fell in love at first bite. Unfortunate that I didnt get to try their brisket, as I heard thats what theyre known for! Overall my friends and I enjoyed our meals though and would definitely come back.
