Weve been in Memphis for 13 years and this place is right around the corner from our house. I took my wife for date night on Friday 07/29/16 around 7:30. There were not a lot of people since it was raining hard outside. We walked in and stood for a few minutes and someone finally came by and said we could sit wherever we liked. Suggestion: Place a sign at the door that says "Seat Yourself." We found a table by the bar for 2. The table was very small. Our server (guy with a cap) came over and asked us for our drinks. He was very dry and not friendly at all. He didnt tell us his name and just asked for drinks. We got our drinks pretty fast but we didnt see the server for a while after that. We were ready to order but we couldnt find this guy. It appeared he was the only server. He finally came back and got our order. We ordered chips and dips for an appetizer and we both ordered the catfish baskets with fries. It took at least 10 -15 minutes for the appetizer to finally arrive. The young man that delivered the appetizer to the table was very nice and friendly. He asked if we needed anything and he was so kind. The appetizer was good. Fresh chips and hot white cheese dip. Nice! Before we could get half way thru the chips and dip, our fish baskets arrived. The tables are so small we had no where to place our food. The young man that brought our food was again so nice that he removed the centerpiece from the table so that we could have room for our entrees. It would be nice to get your appetizer out sooner so that you can enjoy it before bringing out the entree. The fish basket was not good. The fish was fried way too hard and it was too crunchy. There appear to be some other good items on the menu. Take my advice, do not get the fish basket. The server finally came by and asked us how we were doing and we said that we were doing good. We didnt complain. The bartender was friendly. We sat next to the bar and he greeted his patrons with a smile and actually provided good service. There are several TVs also. Overall, this is not somewhere that we will go back to. There are too many other good restaurants in the area to settle for this one. The server acted like he did not want to be there on a Friday night. The only bright spot was the young man that delivered our food. My wife was disappointed but I tried to do something different with a different place. I hope its better for you.

Upon arriving I had high hopes for the place I had always heard this was a great hangout for adults . Oh was I in for a rude awakening. On the day of my visit my husband and I walked into the business in the early afternoon as we opened the door no one waited on us so we approached the bar hoping to get service. As we stood by the bar for what seemed forever the ppl talking amongst themselves one been the owner and another being a waitress finally look over at us whilst still sitting down and said what can we do for you. How about serve us maybe ??? I had to then ask for a menu and a table , she did not offer that serve. After ordering our food and drinks I asked could I order my drink for the price during happy hour because it was 4 min pass 4. She said no . Ok the drink wasnt what I ordered as if it had no alcohol in it at all. So she said I had to pay for it. Because I ordered it anything you order you HAVE TO PAY FOR IT EVEN YOU DOT EAT OR LIKE IT. THE OWNER THEN CAME OUT and showed me that it was on the bottom of the menu. After going back and forth with him .instead of saying that the customer is right and satisfying the customer he told me that he would call the police on me and when I tried to pay him he refused to take my money so I left and my husband went back into the restaurant to pay and he refused the money again so the waitress had to come out and get the money and he still insisted on calling the police then one of the male waitresses came out wanting to have a confrontation when it had nothing to do with him this place is a disgrace the owner is racist and in no way should you have to pay for something you do not eat or drink disgusting business disgusting owner should be closed down and re managed

How horrific can a take out experience be? Heres how bad it was!!!! I purchased the chicken tenders . $7.75 for 5 of them. Had a few errands to make, made it home, opened the box and i have 3 chicken tenders that were old and two freshly made. I called to let them know that I would be bringing it back, the general manager Chris told me he wasnt accepting them back since 2 hours had passed and that any food would look bad after two hours. I told him maybe you arent understanding , so Ill come up and show you what i was served. He immediately told me that if i come up there and start any trouble he would call the police on me. Really? the police. So i take it up there and he tells me no , im not returning your money, no Im not giving you a new order. This entire experience has a very sour taste in my mouth as to a neighborhood grill and pub could be so unprofessional and careless . Will not eat there again and based on his talk to me, I dont think anyone else black or or any ethnicity needs to patronize this establishment. I will further look into this as it was just that offensive to me . I asked for the owner, Chris gives me a bogus number. Never again

The alleged manager Chris, is rude, disrespectful, and not able to handle himself/others when faced with conflict. I was offered nothing for hair being on my daughter-in-laws plate. Chris disposition was that the hair could have come from anywhere. Chris then "offered" to comp the 1st order and prepare another for us.............and CHARGE us for the 2nd. No apology, no complimentary anything upon another visit; nothing. As I walked away from him, I turned to ask his name again then turned to walk out of the door. Chris proceeded to walk closely behind me, projecting his voice to the point of my feeling threatened. Our waitress was a jewel and the food was good, but we lost our appetite due to Chris insolence. We wont be back and its sad. Were not returning due to unappetizing food (weve enjoyed East End for over 20 years), but instead due to one persons vulgarity, Chris.

I sat at the bar, had a few drinks, and ate the Cajun Chicken Pasta. I thought the cajun chicken was great and will be back to try it again. Bar server was alright - I never had to wait long for my beer to be refilled - but not overly friendly. The shock is when you get you check and there is already a tip added (to all checks after 6pm). Ive been a lot of places and this was a first. I understand adding it to parties of 6-8 or more, but to a single guy sitting at the bar?? I really shouldnt complain - that night they cheated themselves - because I would have probably left 20% instead of 18%. I guess they make it up on people that dont get good service and dont want to tip. Cant say I wont be back, because its right next to the hotel I stay at when in the Memphis area. I can however warn future diners/drinkers what to expect.
