(Wife) Heres the long version: My friends and I went to Osaka in Collierville, last night, for a girls night out. The experience wasnt the greatest, but what awaited us later was worse. It was a Friday night, so it was busy, but the wait wasnt too long. The only place to wait, though, was at the bar as the entire restaurant is small/crowded. After being sat, the wait for our drinks from the bar was a little ridiculous. I didnt keep track, but as some other reviewers have stated, it was at least 10-15 minutes. It also took quite a while for the food to come, or maybe we were just crazy hungry. We all had sushi rolls. Im a pretty reasonable person, and I understand it was busy, so I extended some grace on the timing. I enjoyed the time with my friends and the server kindly took our pictures. The real problem lies in what happened after our experience. Apparently a few of the ladies had begun feeling dizzy while we were still dining, and a couple of them had difficulty getting home because of dizziness and nausea. They also were feeling dizzy and off today and one of them, as well as myself, have been physically sick and laid up in bed. [The alcohol consumption was a non-factor since my other very ill friend had zero alcohol and another friend only 2 sips.] We obviously got sick from something, but we cant pin-point exactly what. My personal symptoms have been Dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. My personal assumption is dirty dishes since there really doesnt seem to be a common factor except drinkware, and the fact that some symptoms started while we had our drinks and before the food arrived. A phone call was made and they cited their policy (that they sanitize and wash their cups twice before serving) and that theyve never had a problem. I know how restaurants work and I know that employees cut corners. In summary, 5 out of 6 people in our party got sick, the restaurant did not take responsibility, they obviously are not running a clean/sanitary establishment, and I will personally not be going back.

And let me emphasise, Osaka has the worst service of any asian restaurant in the area. This is not a one time impression either. I was a regular customer at Osaka until a year ago when they decided that lunch should be an all day affair. I spoke with managers and employees repeatedly after multiple visits expressing my concern over the excessive waits just for a few sushi rolls and they honestly couldnt care less. But like the title says they do have good food so I decided I would circumvent their bad service and try my luck as a take-out customer. I should have listened to the little voice in my head that said, "yeah right" when the hostess said my order would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived in 25 and unsurprisingly my order was not ready. In fact, I waited an additional 20 minutes for a total of 45 minutes for three sushi rolls and steamed rice. Always the optimist, I waited a few months, picked up the phone and gave Osaka what I promise myself is their last chance. Once again with a 20 minute pick-up time, I prepared myself for disappointment and pulled up to the restaurant in 40 minutes. Little did I know, Osaka had another trick up their sleeve. Not only was the food not ready, they managed to not have it finished for another 45 minutes. Thats right one hour and 25 minutes for a togo order. And as a parting insult, I enjoyed this extra long wait sitting next to the belligerent, intoxicated friend of the bartender who should have been removed before he started acting confrontational with actual paying customers. So there, Ive said it. Osaka, I bid you adieu.

Poor Customer Service Experience 05/11/2016 Message to the Company Website: Hello, I am a regular customer that comes very often for lunch at your restaurant-sometimes 2 to 3 times a week. I just left a short while ago and was completely disappointed in the service received when I got there. the guy that was at the bar collecting the tab for the to go orders was quite bothered when I asked him to request that they fill up the 2 cups of Osaka sauce I paid $1 each for. I had to ask twice for him to do this before he would make a move or bother to respond. When I did he gave me a blank stare and threw the check plate with my bill on it across the counter at me. I paused for a moment because I could not believe how I was being treated. Additionally-I am not a dog. I am a person who deserves respect and courtesy when I spend my money in any establishment. he then snatched the cups and mumbled something to the effect that the chef fills them or whatever and quickly walked off. When he returned he stated something to the affect that " I am not the one who fills these, so its not my fault". I did not respond or attempt to offer a response, I simply grabbed my lunch and took the detailed ticket with exactly what I ordered and left.....not to return any time soon. Ive spent over $500 in the last 3 months eating lunch there because its a healthier option to fast food. I was willing to make the costly sacrifice-until today. another restaurant can get my money that appreciates my business and loyalty to their brand.

Let me start off with the fact that we have visited this location regularly for several years. We were excited to bring new friends that have recently moved to the area, and share our past experiences that were wonderful. This establishment is going down hill FAST! TODAY, we had a group of six,; we made it very clear we wanted to set at the sushi bar, not a table. All separate checks so we didnt see why this was a problem. We had waited approximately 30 mins, and had yet to be seated. Our sixth person never showed; when 5 consecutive seats opened on the sushi bar we took the seats since no one else was waiting, and we were apparently not being seated. The hostess rush over asking us to get up and take the table next to the sushi bar instead. We didnt understand why this was an issue and then the hostess ROLLED HER EYES at us and demanded we take the table instead. While speaking amongst ourselves about how the hostess rolled her eyes at is she brought our menus over. She looked at my sister and said and I quote "YOU SHUT UP; YOU RUDE!" In no way were we being rude simply stating how Flabbergasted we were about her actions. I found another employee, and asked for the manager. When we explained to her how we were treated her reply was "Im sorry she is just stressed from having to do two jobs." THIS IS NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING AGAIN!

We decided to go to Osaka (one of our favorite restaurants) in Collierville on New Year’s Eve. When we arrived the restaurant was busy, but we were still seated relatively quickly despite that fact; fifteen minutes passed before the waitress took our drinks and sushi orders, and another fifteen minutes passed before we received our drinks and sushi; I understand that the sushi might have taken fifteen minutes if the person(s) preparing it were behind schedule, but it should not take fifteen minutes to bring drinks. Five minutes later our cook arrives and begins preparing dinner, and while he is preparing our rice, the couple seated next to us pushes back from the table, I look over at their plates and see a large ROACH seated on the plate next to mine. We immediate push back and politely ask for a manager. The manager on-duty explained that the restaurant was recently sprayed for insects and acted as if it was not a big deal, then tried to charge us for the entire meal! After a back and forth for about ten minutes, we ended up paying only for the items we consumed (sushi and drinks). We have scratched Osaka off our favorite list!
