DONT GIVE THIS RESTAURANT YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE. Its Nov. 17th, 2016. Imagine....youre 75yrs old. You decide to take a bike ride on the Swamp Trail and when youre done in Travelers Rest you realize youre starving and want to treat yourself to a buffet BUT...only if they have oysters. So you call Hibachi Grill & Buffet to confirm since its 1hr (during rush hour) out of your way. They say "YES." You get lost along the way and upon arrival - NO oysters. You ask the girl you believe took your call...she brings you over to the Mussels. You speak to the manager sharing your dilemma and how those answering phones should be educated on names of items. Management just stares. You humbly request at least half off...sharing in the responsibility even though its their fault. The manager states, "I cant do that." You leave...hungry...sad and feeling abused because you took the time and did the right thing - you called only two hours prior. Im writing this up because this is what just happened and my mom called me from the parking lot almost in tears. I knew exactly how she felt. They dont give a damn about me and would rather send me away then lose a few cents. SELFISH GREEDY CLASSLESS MANAGEMENT!! Theyd rather dismiss a customer because accountability is just to painful for them?! Even if they gave her half off theyd still make money. If I managed this place it would be so natural to have given a free buffet while apologizing because Id damn well know shes telling the truth. What...you think she lives locally and came up with a food you might not have to get half off? So what are their consequences? How did they get affected by their mistake? Well - Im holding you accountable by writing up this negative review. SHAME ON YOU Hibachi Grill & Buffet!!! Its actions like this restaurant chose to take which can send some people off the deep end by burning places down...putting graffiti on their walls....sprinkling stuff in the buffet to make customers sick...etc. Next time they may not get a nice woman like my mother.

Iama Critic Rating - Hibachi Grill and Buffet - 4 stars (on a good night) (Buffett? Fascinating how they spelled their own name wrong!) 1255 Woodruff Road, Greenville, SC Overall: $11.50 buffet is generally well kept. Pick the right items and you eat like a king. Pick the wrong ones and its your own fault. Definitely choose the grill and have your dinner your way. However, a bit of warning, the Hibachi Grills health ratings has varied wildly over the years, so keep that in mind if such things matter to you. Some Good Buffet Items: (ratings very per item) 4 stars - spicy jalapeno shrimp 3 stars - stuffed crab (in the shell) 3 stars - crawdads (mudbugs) 4 stars - breaded fried butterflied shrimp 4 stars- cold baby octopus Sushi - 4 stars (sometimes 3 stars) Hibachis sushi selection was limited. All the sushi I tried was not great, but it was good and fresh. I particularly like the seaweed pocket although I wish they would put some fish roe in it. Hibachi Grill - 4 stars This is obviously where the Hibachi Grill shines. Select your fresh ingredients, hand it to the chef, and in minutes you have a piping hot entree made just the way you want it. If it doesnt taste great, blame yourself! When we got there, we were seated right away, and there was plenty of variety on the buffet. Our drinks were filled promptly. Everything I got on my first plate was great. Sweet and sour chicken, crab wontons, hibachi rice, and two sushi rolls. On my second trip to the buffet, I came across some food that wasnt so good. The shrimp was disgusting, the mussels were full of intestines and other organ looking things. Some of the other sushi rolls werent great either. The ice cream used a community scooper that was sitting in a bowl of water that was meant to keep it clean, but it was more like a big hot tub of germs. The bill was $25 for two of us, and the waiter stuck the check in front of me and refused to walk away until I signed it with the tip. The real fun started in the middle of the night last night. I was up from 1-3 in the morning with the worst explosive diarreah of my life. I almost set off the smoke alarms. My body totally rejected something I had there. For the price and the potential dysentery that may end my life sometime within the next 24 hours, I think I will just go down the street and pay $5 more for Lieus.

As far as Chinese buffets go, this really is a great choice. Im not sure what other reviewers are comparing this with, but Ive been to this restaurant on many occasions, and for the money and type of food, its a great place. This buffet has a wide range of food options, including a hibachi grill, sub-par sushi, and a veritable cornucopia of Americanized-Chinese food selections. They are constantly replenishing the bars, so you can feel relatively assured that the food is turning over multiple times throughout the day, and youre not eating week old leftovers. My favorite part of this restaurant is the hibachi grill. Unless theyve done something drastically different in the last few weeks, dont expect the sushi to be "sushi restaurant" quality. If youre looking for upscale, white linen cloth dining experience, stay away. But, if you like buffet style eating, are not under the care of a cardiac specialist, and want decent food fast, at a great price, the Hibachi Grill and Buffet is a great choice for lunch or dinner.

Contrary to what another reviewer had stated Hibachi Grill is not a "cheap version of Miyabis". In fact its nothing like Miyabis. It does however remind me of the chinese buffet that used to be on Orchard Park Drive. At any rate, my wife and I have been there a couple of times and found it to be very good and reasonably priced. They have a decent variety of traditional Chinese/American food and a great Mongolian grill. (they have sushi as well). There are plenty of fruits and desserts and you can even dip your own ice cream. One thing that impressed me was that they frequently put out clean utensils which is great considering how many hands touch them! We have only been at lunch and it was busy but there were plenty of places to sit. The service is fair and we have never had a problem with them overchaging, however we have always paid in cash.

I wish I could give 0 stars for this rating. Ive been here twice, the second time only to give a second chance. The waitresses or slow, and not very attentive. My waitress was too worried about texting than my cup being empty. I have a kidney issue and needed more water, and this woman is texting away on the clock. Not sure how your rules are on the clock, but nowhere Ive worked was this acceptable. The crab meat was over cooked, the meat was black. Couldnt even eat it. The pineapple I had later was not ripe either. This will be the last time I come here, and I will tell others to avoid it as well. I mean, the waitress threw the check on the table. Seriously?? This staff needs to get their priorities straight; that being the customers. Thank you for poor service, and undercooked fish.
