I will try giving you my story my husband called in for reservations on Thursday he got a reservation for Mothers Day at 5:15 PM we arrived at 5 oclock it was busy we checked in and waited in till 6 oclock my husband got up and went to the front counter with a hostess was and she told she told us we would be the next table sat I counted at least eight other families being sat before my husband went up and said something to he thinks it was a Yanni manager he had short dark hair and glasses. Receded at 6:15 at a dirty table. Waitress arrived at 6:30 took our drink order an appetizers order we asked for somewhere then and small plates at that time the host of should have brought the silverware read the menus when we were seated. At 6:45 drinks arrived ask for silverware. We never received silverware at 6:50 appetizers arrived we asked the food delivery person for plates and silverware and he said he would be right back and he was like Houdini and he never came back. 705 we stopped the young manager and told him that we were not able to eat due to no silverware and our appetizers that were filing to livered were now Colts we had them take them away. Now we have empty drink cups with no salads but now we have the silverware asked for a manager someone named Shannon showed up and said he had the situation under control someone came and took our second drink order 730 we still had no salads people around us were pissed off someone did come to our table ribs wrong salad order then someone came ruin somebodys entrées but not ours finally three of our four entrées showed up my daughter ordered fully mignon medium rare it was burnt it was like a hockey puck we sent it back my husband steak was overcooked he asked for medium it was shoe leather it was way overdone he didnt eat it I received my food but I was so upset that the rest of the familys food was not cook right I could not eat and our son never received any of his food. We were told by the young manager that our dinner would be clumped how can our dinner be comped when we never received dinner my husband asked for the bar bill and was told it was taken care of. My husband said no I will pay the bar bill and once again he was told it was paid for we left and before we left I had asked for the general manager but I was told he was busy on the line. After speaking with Shannon he said he would take care of us we never saw Shannon again no follow up at all waitress told us she is only been on the floor for four days no one puts a new waitress on the floor after four days for one of the busiest days of the year for your Restaurant. We were walking out and we saw our our waitress very upset in the parking lot I hope she wasnt fired because it was not her fault management shouldve known she was overwhelmed and gotten the help that she needed management should always back there employees there was not enough staff on the floor. Tables remain cluttered route patrons still waiting to be seated I blame management for all of this as my husband states 2 1/2 hours at California nightmares we have been going to California dreaming for over 11 years now that is my favorite WAS my favorite place. Plenty of other fine dining restaurants in the charleston area. When we go we end up spending well over $200.00 per visit. We go to your restaurant at least once every few months. We ended up going to grab dinner at Canes Chicken, service was great and we were served all our promptly. My Husband is so upset because Mothers Day was ruined for me. I messaged you when I got home last night and still have yet to hear from anyone! Is there a District manager? I will look on line and see if there is a cooperate phone #.

Ive lived in Charleston all my life and never was able to enjoy half of the wonderful restaurants there. When I finally got the opportunity I decided to see what the fuss was about California Dreaming. My best friend and I heard so many good things about this restaurant so we decided to check it out. When we got seated, the previous customers check was still on the table, the booths chair was wet, and used silverware was on the chair in the booth. We ordered our appetizer which came out with 2 saucers, one of which was dirty. The server placed the appetizer on the table and left the dirty plates that we stacked nicely at the end of the table for her to remove. We had to ask a random server who walked by to remove them. While looking at the menu trying to decide what our main course would be, a bug fell down on the menu. The salad that came with our meals were watered down and had absolutely NO taste. Ive never had a tasteless salad... We didnt even finish it. The Linguine Alfredo was soooo dry and tasteless. Our appetizers tasted better than the meal! I was really disappointed with this restaurant. This restaurants prices are too pricey for plates to return to your kitchen untouched or barely eaten off of unless too much food was ordered from start. I think the best thing we had was the croissant that came along with the salad. Sadly to say, I cannot see myself returning to this restaurant or recommending it to others. Ive worked front desk for years and always recommended this restaurant to guests because Ive heard such good things from others, but I cant say Ill ever do that again. Truly a disappointment...

My husband and I went to California Drreaming on 9-11-10. We had heard good reviews and were ready to have a night of dinner without the kiddos. We both were looking forward to dinner, and had actually already looked at the menu online. We got there around 8 and were seated promptly. The restaurant is beautiful with gorgeous views. It was really beautiful. The ambiance was great, our waitress was wonderful, the bread was out of this world. We both ordered the prime rib, which sounded fantastic. We had an appitizer that was delicious, then came the salad. It looked mouth-watering...huge, loaded, a great looking salad. As I was "mixing it up", I noticed something dark brownish. As I looked closely I notices it was not any piece of food, nor was it a bug, but it was a BAND-AID. Of course we notified the waitress who looked embarrassed, and went to get the manager. The manager came over and apologized about the incident, and advised he didnt know how that happend since all the kitchen staff wears gloves. He said it must have come from the company they order lettuce from. We told him that we were leaving and we were not paying for anything. He acted as if it were no big. Said again he was sorry and scurried away to the kitchen. We were dumbfounded!! We were so excited to eat there too! I wont ever go back, nor will I ever reccomend this place to eat. We ended up at Reds....no band aids there!

Thanksgiving dinner with the family at California Dreaming was not as good this year as in the past. While the food was good, the service was very slow. Dont know if they were short handed with wait staff or not, but it took 10 minutes after we were seated for a waiter to take our drink order and another 10 minutes for him to bring the iced tea. By the time he got around to taking our food orders, all of us had finished our tea and needed more. Instead of bringing a pitcher full to refill all of the glasses, he brought 2 of our party new glasses and said he would be right back with the rest. He eventually brought 1 more glass which two of our party had to share. Other members of the staff brought our food, which was very good. I understand and agree that no one wants a waiter hovering over them while they are eating, but it was over 30 minutes before we saw the waiter again. When we asked for take out boxes for our leftovers, indicating that our meal was over, he disappeared again. After being in the restaurant for almost 2 hours, we were finally able to pay our bill and leave. This is the first time we have had a problem with the service in the five years we have been celebrating Thanksgiving at California Dreaming, and we hope that things will be better on our next visit.
