We have lived in the Poconos for the past 15 years and have yet to find a pizza comparable to real New York Pizza you can get in the City. I guess anyone can put "New York" on their sign here in the Poconos as is evidenced with Family New York Pizza in Tannersville, PA...and get away with it. We first tried this pizzaria a number of years ago, and did not like it, but decided to give it another try since we believed it has come under another owner. We ordered a Sicilain Pizza, and I knew I was in trouble when I walked in and found 3 teenagers running the place. Teenagers + pizza joint = bad experience. The pizza had NO CRUST. The edges were crimped like one of those Drakes Cherry pies you buy at the gas station. The dough did not appear fresh but pre-fabbed. The taste of the pie was very similar to a number of frozen pizzas you can buy at local markets....all for a mere $14.83! After a couple of slices, we threw the rest out the back door for the nocturnal animals and headed to a local restaurant. Please, if you are a true New Yorker looking for a New York style pizza, steer clear of Family New York Pizza in Tannersville, PA.. If you do not care what you eat, give them a try. Obviously, the owner and workers at Family New York Pizza have never experienced a true New York Pizza, and neither will you if you order from them. I would rate them down with Dominoes, the absolute basement of pizzas. Huge disappointment and false advertising if you go by their name. I really should have brought the pizza back and asked for a refund.

I placed an order over the phone the women who answered was very rude. We were about 10 minutes past the time she had told me on the phone to pick up the pizza she proceeded to be rude while ringing me up. She also charged me for a soda I only asked the price of. After we got there they made us another pizza and she was the one to take it out of the oven in the process she was slamming things and continued to have an attidue while we were there. She was very anal about getting out on time for closing. The food was great but unfortunately terrible, terrible customer service.

I placed an ordered to be delivered to my hotel and asked for utensils and plates. I had to pick up my food in the lobby and when I got to my room, found there were NO utensils! How do u deliver to a hotel and NOT give utensils!? I had to go back down to the lobby and find utensils. The food was just ok, the sauce was very salty, and NOTHING like NY pizza! Would NOT recommend, very disappointed!

We just moved to the area from just outside NYC so we KNOW good New York Pizza. Family New York Pizza was the first place we tried + we loved it. We tried a couple other local pizza places + no dice. Family New York is the real deal if you want a taste of the city. They also have crazy fast delivery + have no problem driving to our home which is in the middle of nowhere. :]

Just your typical mom and pop NY pizza joint. They have about 6 or 7 tables and have slices available for quick take out. Entree sizes are massive as is the custom at these places. Daily specials and delivery are offered, prices are more than reasonable. Flavors were just ok, but I did not try the pizza, just some entrees i.e. chick parm , Marsala, bread, marinara, etc..

as for the comments about it being real new york pizza the original owners named it that and they ARE from new york and had a pizzaria there, know what your talking about before opening your mouth. the present owners, if they are the same as about 10 yrs ago, arent that bad at the food either or they wouldnt still be there. in the area 15 yrs? you would know this then!!!!

We were just in Tannersville and tried it out for the first time. Its hard to find good New York style pizza. We like the extra cheese pies. Even though theyre a bit far from us, we go from time to time. Prices are reasonable, so its reasonable to feed the family. You can eat in or take out, but we usually bring it home unless its just my husband and I.

Very friendly family owned place. Variety of food and very well cooked. We went there for dinner on our fourth evening in Poconos and went back again on the 5th and last. Everyone in the family with different choices loved the food. One of the best pizza I ever had. Will definitely go there whenever We visit that area again

If u want good pizza dont, I repeat dont eat here. You can get better pizza at Walmart. Someone should sue them for false advertising. They have no clue what a New York pizza looks or tastes like. And a large pie people is 18 inches round not 16 what a joke

If u want good pizza dont eat here. i have been so many other local pizzeria but this one has worse pizza ever. they have no idea what they are making in my pizza there was more cheese then a pizza dough. it was like cheese pizza on tortilla.

We order from this restaurant often for take out, and its one of our favorite pizza places near Stroudsburg. The pizza is always ready and warm but it is a little pricey! $29 for a large cheese pizza and a medium sausage pizza.

Stayed open late and made me a delicious, reasonably priced sandwich. This place has earned my loyalty and Ive always been satisfied with the food and service. Nice job! I highly recommend if you are in the area.
