A friend of mine wanted to have German food for dinner, so we went to the Schnitzelhaus. When we arrived there around 6 p.m. the restaurant was completely empty, and a smell of burned hair was in the air, no A/C only a few fans running. The menu was a weird combination of German foods...Sauerkraut came with every order, which is not customary in Germany at all. I ordered Jägerschnitzel, which is a pork chop with mushroom gravy, usually served with mashed potatoes and either a garden salad or red cabbage. They wanted to serve it with Sauerkraut, I had to pay extra to get red cabbage instead. I also ordered a Flädles Suppe. The soup came out very quickly, but tasted sour. When I pointed it out one of the waitresses she started to argue with me about it. Instead of a Jägerschnitzel I got a Zigeunerschnitzel (comes with a bell pepper sauce)...the mashed potatoes were clearly heated up in the microwave and only tasted of butter and water. The Schnitzel, although the wrong order, was tasty. The red cabbage looked more like colored, cooked to death withe cabbage that had a very, very sour taste. When our drinks came we discovered that our glasses still had their dirty price stickers on the bottom... I never had such a bad experience at a restaurant in my whole life, not to mention that the food was totally overpriced. Towards the end of our visit at the Schnitzelhaus the two waitresses took off and left the man behind who must have been also the cook and the one who runs the place. I felt sorry for him, because before these two women left the older one seemed to talk (in some language that wasnt German) in a demeaning voice with him. In general I always dread going to a German restaurant, here in the U.S., because I have never made a good experience. This one, sadly, makes no exception. What has been presented as authentic German at that restaurant and others, is clearly not, besides the weird combinations of German dishes. I can not understand how others who have left a review about this restaurant were so positive? They must have never tasted German food... As a German, someone who was born, raised and lived most of his life in Germany, I disapprove of this restaurant and can say for a fact that nothing in there was authentic German...I even saw the German flag upside down at some point while being there. The Schnitzelhaus is a discredit to German cuisine.

This Place gives German Food a bad Name. It Is The Worst German Food I ever had anywhere. How in The World Can A German Place Not Sell BEER???? Or Play German Music??? A The Food Was SOOOOO bad, i dont know how this place can keep there doors open. I guess thats way they have only a plastic Banner on the building then there must know that they will not be there for very long. Well i ordered a Onion Soup it tasted like Water with some parts of Onions i n it (NO CHEESE ON TOP) this Soup had just no taste. There Sauerbraten was full with Fat and Nerves and tasted like Vinegar, they must use Vinegar as sauce and there put the Vinegar over the Noodles also.It Just Tasted Like ...... And than i made another mistake i ordered a side order of Red Cabbage what had also no taste, i guess there just boiled it and that what it. They should go to ALDIS and buy the Red Cabbage There. This Place is not a German Restaurant If they think they put up some German Pictures and have some German Dolls and German Beer Steins that dont make that Place German. Just think about it (NO GERMAN BEER OR ANY BEER) no German Music. They played some lousy Music in that Place. In Germany this place would be closed forever in 1 Week maybe even less than that. Here are some good things about "The Schnitzel House" the Service was good and the place was Clean. The Menu on the internet is different from the the place. I wanted Dumplings like it listed on the internet menu. Also you dont spell Wurst with 2 dots over the (u) (ü) I would not recommend this Place. NO BEER HERE IN THIS PLACE. .

My husband and I went to this place to celebrate his birthday. We had seen a review in the Reading Eagle that said this was "authentic German" food. 1. Our waitress did not write anything down when taking our order. She could only said "Okay, okay". Well, the service was NOT okay. She got the order wrong and then tried to charge us for things we ordered but never received because she was so terrible at her job! She was not available to give us our check and then we finally ended up just going to the counter in order to get someone to take our money! 2.The food was horrible. It was tasteless! I have never had such a terrible experience in ANY restaurant. The prices were robbery! Simply outrageous! 3. The bathrooms were disgusting! There was no toilet paper and no paper to dry your hands after washing. The floors had not been swept or mopped in a VERY long time. There was, what looked like, dried vomit on the floor. The smell made me gag! Save your money, time and gas. This place is the pits!!! The health department needs to shut it down! McDonalds will give you a better meal than this place!

The food was fantastic. I had #8 on the breakfast menu. Its ham with eggs on top, German potatoes and onions (home fries), toast, and coffee. The seasoning on the potatoes was perfect. They didnt need any salt or pepper. The ham was flavorful and juicy. The toast (I chose wheat) was soft and with the butter and jelly it was probably the best wheat toast Ive ever had. The coffee was pretty great too. I am by no means a coffee connessiuer, but I dont like really bitter coffee and their coffee doesnt require much creamer or sugar to take the edge off. The service was good. Echo (which is an awesome name, by the way) checked up on us the perfect amount. It wasnt super busy which is really surprising based on our experience there, but I heard that they recently changed buildings. Speaking of, the building itself is very fitting. The outside has the same sort of paneling appearance that German architecture is known for, which I thought was really neat and adds to the experience. The owner is also really nice. My point is, you should go. Really.

Went on a German class trip to eat here, and was expecting good food and good service. Neither of which were provided. The bathrooms were disgusting as well, and a classmate had disclosed to us on the bus ride back to school that there were spiders in the mens room. As a food industry employee myself, Id be embarrassed to work in a restaurant with such terrible service, and very little cleanliness. Most of the food was either burnt or cold, which is a couple steps down from the school cafeteria, again, a huge disappointment when coming from school on a field trip. I just hope it was a terrible day in the restaurant, and not a terrible restaurant.

Food was Blan. Tasteless. The waitresses dressed inappropriately. Their butts were hanging out. They yelled at us. We were unhappy with the food and they told us we were wrong. Very disappointing. Food was undercooked it was pink and they said it was cooked properly...it was pink. Sausage isnt pink maybe when its raw. Then we got into the car and they followed after telling us to go f**k ourselves.
