Very pricey- even during restaurant week. Hot food including house tofu and fried brussels sprouts were quite delicious and reasonably priced, as were the rather American deserts, but the sushi and sashimi ranged from awful to pretty good. All of the sashimi was glued together using wasabi, which completely overwhelmed all of the other flavor. Once freed from their horseradish blight, the salmon and white tuna sashimi were rather good. None of the rolls seemed very fresh, although the mango jalapeño rolls were tasty. The service was attentive but awkward (except for suit guy. I liked suit guy.) and the space cramped, loud, and accented by music that clashed with the rest of the theme. Overall, Zama is massively overpriced and easily outdone by strip mall pan-asian eateries across the Delaware. If Zama raised its standards of polish, presentation, and flavor, it could really be a contender. As of now, it has the feel of of an aging 5 star hotel struggling to outshine a Comfort Inn.

Over all, not great. My family and I went after my college graduation to celebrate, there were 7 of us and we were the only people in there. We got there early for our reservation so we decided to have a drink at the bar and the bartender was not friendly and very off putting. He disappeared for like half an hour while we were still at the bar. We sit and wanted to change the seating they had and the server gave us serious attitude about it. Reminder: we were literally the only people in there so its not like we were taking up space for other parties. The whole time the server was rude and had a serious attitude problem. It was some of my familys first time having sushi so they were having issues and he didnt help at all. The food was small and mediocre, I literally left hungry. The dessert was one bite of food. This was the ONLY time we have tipped less than 20% and it was very deserved. Would not recommend.

One of the more expensive sushi restaurants of all that we have frequented around the country - for an experience that was clearly not in the top 10. Quality was good, portions are very small - particularly for sashimi, overall service was lackluster. Our server was very personable and good, however other employees appeared to have become involved with our dining as well. The seating manager seems to have brought parts of our order to other diners adjacent to us. Our server was unaware we had not received two specialty rolls, as we would later learn from the bill. Generally speaking, this was mediocre, and is a hard one to recommend.

Subtle but elegant taste and appeal. This being my first visit to Zama, I decided to go with the waiters recommendation. I thoroughly enjoyed the Wasabi Lobster and the well balanced flavor of the Black Cod entrée. I overhead the waiter saying this restaurant was over 2 years old - not sure how I missed it all this time (considering that I work so close by). Will be coming back for more! OK, went back for more.... New favorite is the Wasabi Tuna! Aannd I am back again, this time I had the mochi for dessert - so very good!

NOM NOM NOM - holy moly this was fabulous. The decor is beautiful the platings are beautiful and the service was great. My only issue was that I was too eager to show off my chop sticking skill with a steamed dumpling and splashed sauce all over a white work blouse. FAIL. BUT a waitress, who wasnt even ours, saw and brought me clb soda! Bravo Zama, Bravo!! I got the Rainbow Roll, Sesame Salmon, Seaweed salad and the short ribs app. Things were split but that is everything I tasted and it was super yummy!

The menu is interesting so I decided to try one of each. The salad was okay, I think the dressing could be a bit more flavor and didnt taste homemade/fresh. The eggplant appetizer was very good and was impressed with preparation and seasoning. Its close to an eggplant patty that my mother used to make. Now for the sushi, the cuts are very small but its fresh and tasty and expensive. The Sake list is pretty good but like everything else a bit overpriced.

This establishment has the best sushi that Ive ever had. Everything from appetizer to dessert was great. Wonderful customer service and overall good atmosphere. It has a chic and stylish decor throughout. The price point was a bit higher than other places, but hey its Rittenhouse square. Service was also a bit slow, but it was a busy Friday night so that is to be expected. I will definitely be going back soon.

Sushi rolls and drinks taste great, as they should for the prices. Dining at the bar was disappointing when the ignorant waitstaff comes over to count out their tips and chat it up with the bartender. within arms reach and earshot of my dining position. Also didnt appreciate closing down, cleaning, etc. more than 1/2 hour prior to advertised time; rude!

Been to this place many times. Best authentic Japanese cuisine with a touch of fusion. Having been to many other Japanese restaurants in Philadelphia and in Japan, the fish here is top notch and is on par with Morimoto. One of the only places you can get real (and not imitation) Himachi.

Excellent food and friendly service. The wait staff seemed to be a little overwhelmed at times and the food was not delivered as promptly as we would have liked but we started to learn and begin ordering sushi dishes together that way we didnt have to wait on them

Very pleasant bar and restaurant with knowledgeable staff. The hot sake carafe is a good deal, but most of the other drinks and food are pretty expensive. The quality of the fish is excellent, but the price makes it such that I would only come here occasionally.

The fresh tofu and the brussel sprouts are my absolute favorite thing on my palates mind anymore. I tried Zamas during restaurant week, and it was an excellent choice. Would definitely reccommend if you were in the area and wanted to spend a little more.

If you like uni, this is the place to get it! Granted, they dont serve it out of the shell, but it is the next thing. They have the fisherman shuck them so they stay more fresh. Besides that, I got the omakase. Even though it is not listed, you may req

If you like Sushi, then you will love this place. So many choices, it boggles the mind. Check out a sampler the first time you go there. The atmosphere is really low key and fun to hang out in. I strongly suggest you check this place out.

Great food and delightful ambiance. We were seated in a small room that for most of our meal was private for our party of 4. Our server was friendly and informative. Sushi and tempura were excellent. A lovely evening.

We went to try a new sushi place, and can honestly say the food was just okay. We were just here for the sushi, not sure about the rest of the menu. Sushi was Mediocre. Nice atmosphere. Very pretty. Service very good.

I love this place for lunch. Their lunch sets are a bit pricey but come with a lot of great food. The broth of the udon noodle soup is magical. I love, love their sushi but also recommend the Calamari salad.

Food was fantastic - one of the best sushi places I have visited. I would give 5 stars but the waitress Cati was extremely rude. If I ever go again, I will make sure I receive a different server.
