Its a small chain that, according to the server, brings groups of cooks from China to live in communal housing and work as a team. Owner is Taiwanese, decor reflected his roots. The food is mixed Taiwanese and Sichuan. I wouldnt call the plates small. Eating partly from the lunch menu, which was supposed to be smaller portions, easily turned family style. The dishes were substantial and well presented. Not a single one caused any disappointment or complaint. Noodles (with sausage), soup (seafood), mapo tofu, eggplant (very nice sweet/hot), twice cooked pork (thin slices, somewhat numbing), and some others. Nothing was painful or unpleasantly hot, despite ordering heat scores of 6-7. Good balanced flavors. The food is properly restaurant food with the salt content that implies. Properly seasoned for a restaurant. The servers included both Chinese speakers and non. All were friendly and accomodating. The venue was moderate size, very nice on the historic main street, with a funny flair of tin tile ceiling, Chinese brush work, etc. The servers were suitably talkative and many hip business people were having meetings for 2-4 at lunch. The cold marinated cucumber was recommended but not tried. Compares very well with many other Sichuan places for authenticity and quality.

Always love coming here. The dishes are large and filling, easily shared. My favorites are the dan dan noodles (everyones favorite), the double fried fish, and the garlic pork. The garlic pork is thinly sliced and coated in a sweet and spicy garlic sauce. While the pork is very tasty, the sauce is amazing. The plate will be cleaned off because everyone will want to pour the sauce over their rice. You could literally eat just rice and this sauce and be happy. The double fried fish comes out hot and crispy and slightly sweet. I dont think I have ever been disappointed by a dish here. The spice numbers are a great help for newcomers and choosing what to pick.

Im hopelessly addicted to Hans cooking. His Sichuan is always a dependable standby, and Im glad this restaurant is an option in Manayunk. Last I was here, I brought a large crew and we went for the tasting menu. It was an assault of the senses: the smells and tastes and textures of Dan Dan noodles, dumplings, soups, and a medley of other dishes blurred through my mind. Be prepared for spiciness, or ask to tone it down a little. Their tasting menu is a boot camp of hot peppery goodness in your face. Dishes rated at "10" make even this tin man cry.

This was just an absolutely terrible experience. I have never witnessed something so disorganized. They did not keep order of people coming into the restaurant, so people were being sat way out of order. When we finally got a table, the table was all over the place because the floor was uneven. When I asked the waiter to help us fix the table he said, " I dont know what you want me to do, I can get you a napkin?" The food was not worth what we paid for. Do not waste your hard earned money.

Manayunk has come up to Hans high standards. Nice not to have to hike out to Royersford or even olde city. Great deals for lunch too. Really good and knowledgeable waitstaff. And dont be afraid because of the Schezuan reputation. Lots of the dishes are quite tame. Lunch specials are a bargain at under $10. They will gladly adjust spice levels (I usually go to 11.) Always get a parking spot within a block at noon. I go pretty much much once per week.

Compared to other restaurants, HanDynasty is a great choice. Compared to other HanDynasty locations in Philadelphia and beyond, this location is not the best. The food is phenomenal: tasty Asian fare that incorporate knowledge of flavors (and spice!). My criticisms have to do with the ambiance (not enough space and the dining room was poorly converted) and, though it may be my imagination, a limited menu relative to other HanDynasies.

Good food thats authentic. Place can be noisy. One of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. Some of the best Dan-Dan noodles dishes around. The pictures are the seafood tofu soup (after wed eaten some, the bowl arrived full) and the hot sauce style chicken. You pick the style you want and the protein & spice level. Also reasonable vegetarian choices, too. Check the menu picture to get some idea.

Really great eats! This is the first restaurant Ive dined at since officially becoming a Philly resident and I would easily suggest this place to anyone looking for good Chinese cuisine. I was a little disappointed by service upon arriving, but the food and interaction with one of the hostesses made for a great experience. I look forward to dining there again.

My brother took me here and ordered for us. We shared Dan Dan noodles and spicy cucumber salad. I had dry fry style chicken and they added steamed broccoli at my request. The hottest, tastiest food I have had in a long time. The flavors were fantastic and the heat was never painful. I would consider moving back to Philly from Arizona for their food.

Delicious spicy Chinese food (dan dan noodles, spicy cucumber, cumin lamb) that is consistent. Though, I have had several poor service experiences. Service can be inattentive, forgetful (full orders forgotten), and even short tempered or uninterested. Hopefully they have sorted that out because the food is too good to be ruined by these experiences.

Was told it was a stellar place and so decided to try it...was okay for veg fried rice. Go to packaging didnt have soy sauce, fortune cookies or napkins. When I called to order, guy answering the phone said that since he didnt speak Chinese, he could only select or deselect options on his screen!!

Great food and great prices. Out of all the Han Dynasty locations, this is by far the least spicy which may be a pro or a con. I am also always impressed with their speed and efficiency. If youre looking for a place to get a quick bite but want to go to a sit-down restaurant, this is your place.

Flavor of food consistently great. Any dish weve tried has been great...flavorful, cooked nicely, not overcooked. Served family style. Service is quick, but sometimes not as attentive while seated. Gets very crowded and at times hard to hear. Great place on the avenue to dine.

One star because the service was lousy and not to mention I ordered the rabbit with peanuts and chili oil and it was completely filled with bones! Ive had rabbit before and it never tasted this bad...it was like ground up cat. So gross! Never eating here ever again!

Pretty good Chinese. Dan Dan noodles are tasty as is the cumin chicken. I heard this place is spicy (which is subjective) but everything is on a scale of 1-10 and a few 6 and 7 dishes werent really very spicy. Taste aS good and one extra star for being BYOB.

If youre a vegetarian~ eat elsewhere, very limited options! If you want actual service, by friendly attentive staff~ go elsewhere! If u want to completely be ignored and physically have to get up from your table for service~ this is the place to be!

BYOB and great cuisine! Theres a reason that Han Dynasty is always busy; the food is great and its a great location on Main St. Manyunk. Its a fun locale to eat at with a large group and kids. We always get the Fried Rice, DanDan noodles and Wonton Soup.
