Its only until you experience ribs elsewhere do you appreciate how good the ribs are at the Rib Crib. Having grew-up in Philly and now living in Washington, DC Ive tried many other places inside and outside of Philly and none of them come close to true BBQ ribs that the Rib Crib have which are cooked on an OPEN GRILL WITH REAL CHARCOAL! Most places grill them without real charcoal and just smother them with BBQ sauce. This is not the case at the Rib Crib...you can actually SEE the ribs burning over the coals just like as if you were BBQing on your own grill. THIS is what I believe sets them apart from most rib vendors...that and their special sauce which is great! They should use MORE OF IT which is my only criticism--> I constantly have to request extra sauce (which they now CHARGE EXTRA MONEY FOR)..otherwise they can be less savory and even kinda dry at times. Overall though, best ribs in Philly...and in my opinion, best ribs on the east coast.

The owner of the rib crib is aging and the product is suffering. The past 2 times I have been there, I bought a rack of ribs at $27.00. That aint cheap for take out ribs. Both times, they were horrid. It was like they gave me ribs that had been prepared the week before with sauce made the year before. And the side salads in the bag were NOT what I asked for. The cole slaw they gave me tasted like shredded onion salad. It was dreadful and we couldnt eat it. I hate when I get bad take-out food because there is little you can do after driving 10 miles home. And even if I were to go back, the people there do not seem to have a customer service mentality. Everyone seems so mean and angry. They behave as if the customer has interrupted their day. I WILL NEVER GO BACK and can only recommend to others to avoid the place now. And thats after being a loyal customer for over 20 years.

So....there arent that many places to go for ribs in the area. I tried this place out probably 5 years ago and was disappointed. I thought they were just having a bad night since i read great reviews online. Nonetheless, tonight I thought Id give it a second try. ...For $14, i bought a half slab of ribs, with two sides, mac salad and potato salad. I had one rib, which was grisslie, hardly any meat on the bone, and it was tough. Isnt the meat suppose to fall off the bone? Who wants to fight with ribs. The potatoe salad was full of uncooked potatoes. The mac salad was full of sugar. Nothing like spending $14 on a meal and throwing it away. No wonder the place had more staff then patrons on a nice Saturday night. Grade: F

After finally catching The Rib Crib OPEN with RIBS, I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED with my sandwich. First off the lady grabbed the slab out the oven/grill like it was a peice of TRASH, no fork no tongs and just threw it on the cutting table, and then someone else walked up with gloves ALREADY on and proceeded to cut off my portion of my order as if she was mad at the world. Needless to say I got my food (1 rib bone & 3 Lil peices)home and there was hardly any sauce and my ribs were dry/overcooked to the point that NOBODY in my house wanted any which is unusual. Im going to give them one more try today before totally write The Rib Crib off FOR GOOD!!!!

I went there around 6:30 pm nobody in there the guy still told me I had to take a number . Then I ordered a slab .............. it was $ 28.00 thats crazy !!!!!! Now if the ribs were good it wouldnt be a problem .......... they werent . The sauce was like hunts ketchup but more sweet . It was horrible . The meat was tough , and they were thin . In short stay away . Go to dwights on germantown ave . Like I said before .................. so not worth it

This is the best Rib eatery in the US. Not too many rib spots have been open for as long as this one, with excellent quality that is consistent. Ask around from the south to the north, east to the west, I can guarantee you know someone that has stood in line for these ribs more than once.

They use to be good 15 years ago but now their customer service is poor, their food is tough and old tasting. For the price they are charging I would hv expected better.

I am baffled by the negative reviews because I am a frequent patron of the Rib Crib. Their chicken is the best. I recommend the wings.
