Ravishing customer service & delicious food. The cashier/manager or who ever she is was awesome. I had A very long day & was too tired to read the menu but the way she described everything & showed me the vegetarian options with A genuine smile on her face instead of irritation was greatly appreciated, mind you it was about 10mins to closing yet she/they still treated me like it was the beginning of the day. Most places I just know not to go in there the last ten minutes lol. And they give A terrific amount of food so its most definitely worth it!!!! Im honestly one of those ppl who judge places based on how many negative/positive reviews they get. I read one review in particular that almost had me thinking I should choose somewhere else because I cant stand terrible customer service but Im so glad I didnt. I mean the customer service was GREAT, countless vegetarian options & The cook gave me A sample of the fried eggplant when I asked & he was ever so polite to me as well. Ive found A new fav spot at the Hummus Grill for sure.

The food quality is excellent. I generally get a falafel platter. It comes with falafel, hummus, rice, french fries, vegetables, and of course, a pita. For $8, I get my belly stuffed. Since I am a vegan, I am extra delighted that their tahini is completely egg/dairy-free. Make sure to ask for extra hot sauce. Its not traditional tabasco but more of a green chili paste (hence, unique!) which goes great with everything. Ultimately, the food is great. The only reason I gave it four stars is because it can get busy which results in slow ordering and $8 (even for a great platter) is a bit steep for a just-employed individual :-)

The food came fast and most of it was edible. My problem started when more than half of the french fries where burned, there was too much lemon juice on the salad, and the take out container literally drained all the juices of the food. My biggest complain is that there was a piece of plastic mixed with the hummus which can be fatal. The lack of hygiene is impressive the floor was dirty and the bathroom was smelly. Overall, I wont be returning here since I dont want to take the risk of finding another piece of plastic or God knows what.

I just moved in around the block, and I wanted to try this place out. The service was quick if not particularly friendly, but the food was outstanding! I had the chicken kabob platter and it was loaded with chicken, rice, hummus, pita, and tomato and cucumber salad. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted great! The hummus is to die for, smooth and creamy, and a touch sweet. Ill be going back a lot, even though the dinner for 1 (with drink) cost $10.xx

This summer I have frequented the hummus on 40th Walnut a few times with my boyfriend and I found the service by the female waitress in particular unacceptable. I felt that she was quite rude to me, twice and I dont know if she had an issue with me being African American and my boyfriend being White but I swear they will never get my money again. Id rather go to the Falafel Exotic Cuisine restaurant on Chestnut st.

One of several boutique-ish eateries that has popped up over the last several years at the intersection of 40th and Walnut on the UPENN campus. Hummus offers the fare youd expect at a reasonable price, but for some reason it has a very packaged feel like that of a chain. Theres a pleasant young staff and the food is tasty, but you arent left feeling like you dined anywhere particularly special.

My boyfriend and I just tried this place today- I ordered Schwarma and he ordered Schnitzel. I do NOT recommend this place. The poultry was visibly old (for 14$!?! Stale and dry) and he was food poisoned!! He was vomiting and had diarrhea all night!!! Never coming back again. NEVER. McDonalds is right down the street and is way cheaper and better. (At least they dont serve ROTTEN chicken...)

Every day I dream of homes. I love hommus. I worship the hommus. This restaurant allowed me to fulfil my dreams. About hommus. I have a dream. One day all dips will be the same, no matter if theyre tziki or french onion. One day my children will not be judged by their flavour but by their intelligence and their views. Homes is love I say, Hommus is life!

The food there is disgusting and the people who wrote positive reviews are obviously owners or employees! I had food poisoning from there when I did eat there and I have heard the same complaint from other people too! NEVER AGAIN! Their food is wanna-be arabic and it tastes like crap.. you want the real thing.. walk a few blocks west over to SAADs

I used to love this place a lot when I lived in Philadelphia. This was by far my favorite place for Mediterranean food. My one complaint is that the place was a little small, so it sometimes felt cramped during peak times. However, Ill definitely eat here again next time I visit friends in Philly. I still have my Hummus card

I came all the way from New York City for this place. Loved the delicious falafel in the fresh, soft pita bread with its unique Israeli salads. Excellent food. Recommended to all food enthusiasts.

Our favorite place to eat in the area! Staff is friendly, food is delicious and the wait for food is short. For a university area eatery, they are very family friendly!

For the most part the food is reasonable for the price. The meat and hummus were good, though the pita bread was small and on the stale side when I went.

$6 (plus tax) for a nothing special falafel? no thanks! Also it took like 10 minutes to get the thing, and the bottom was nothing but vegetables.

Owner is arrogant. Food is less than okay. Place is built in the basement of old house that doesnt look liveable at all.

Love the food. A little expensive. Food has been getting progressively worse however and portions are getting smaller!

You get a lot of food for $10. I always get the Shwarma platter and have never been disappointed.
