Two words: Absolutely horrible. The food is sub par to disgusting, but the service...oh, my is the service awful. Weve eaten take out from here a number of times, and my husband who will eat pretty much anything does not like their food. Weve also dealt with rude people over the phone and in person. We kept trying it since they are the only chinese restaurant that delivers, and when we get take out they are quite close to our home. We have been willing to put up with lower quality food and rudeness, since the prices are so low, but after tonight...no more. Tried to order takeout, had the guy on the phone talk over me, and for the longest time he just kept saying "uh huh" no matter what I said or asked. Eventually I gave up talking to him at all and I just listened to him say "uh huh" into the receiver for 30 seconds straight. When I asked if he heard my order, he said "uh huh", repeated my "order" of 3 things I didnt even mention, and then when I told him thats not what I ordered he called me "stupid". Like really? The food sucks, the prices are just okay, and now youre calling people stupid? They are definitely the No 1 Chinese Kitchen, in the category of "Awful food and experience".

Their food is terrible. Their service is unremarkable. I DONT RECOMMEND EATING HERE! My family and I moved to Pittsburgh 3 years ago, and unfortunately, they are the only Chinese place that delivers. We have had to fine-tune the tolerable vs. untolerable greasy stuff to eat by sheer practice. I called them after I had their egg fu yung and tasted dish soap (and not mine because we were eating on paper). I called them to let them know and the lady that answered the phone laughed in my face, told me "no way, I dont believe you" and I didnt have to eat there anymore if it was so horrible. Hows that for service? I just wanted to let her know. She said if I wanted my money back, I better have more than 1/2 leftover and that I should bring it now or she wouldnt return my money. I tried to explain that wasnt my point in calling. I told her my toddler was sick, hence me getting delivery vs. pick up and she said "too bad". I stated that I wouldnt eat there again. Terrible service! They dont want their customers to come back?! I was so offended that she treated me like I was lying - about stupid egg fu yung! :0/

I stopped ordering from this place about a year ago because the food and customer service has really gone down hill. However yesterday my boyfriend not knowing this was bad food ordered from no. 1 and the most bizarre thing happened. Him and his friends pulled out the food and just started eating and the phone rang, it was no. 1 Chinese saying the delivery driver had given them not only the food they ordered but another order and they wanted them to repack up the food and the driver would be back to pick it up. My boyfriend explained to them that they had already opened and were eating already eating some of it. The place said just to repack it up. REALLY how disgusting they were going to now take open and half eaten food over to someone that lived in Alcoma on the Green. We will be making a report to the health department.

Been eating here for four and a half years, love their pork fried rice (you can order it with no vegetables, even!) and all of their chicken dishes have been really good. Ive had Chinese food all over the country, while this place isnt some "super elite" chinese food place youll find in New York or San Francisco, if you want good chinese food local to Penn Hills you wont find a better place. Delivery is always prompt and polite as well, and they have very good rapport over the phone despite the fact that most of them are ESL.

We have eaten take out at this place for a very, very long time. Many people have told me not to eat here because friends have gotten sick, but we havent had any trouble until today. I ordered chicken with broccoli and got it home only to discover the "chicken" is nothing but chicken SKIN - no chicken at all. Not even a little bit. The broccoli and the rest of the ingredients are so greasy it is inedible even if I was inclined to eat skin. YUCK. It is going back and I will never eat there again.

Weve been sitting here for 15 minutes and love it already. It smells like authentic Chinese cuisine, theres no one else here so its very roomy and the people here are great! Ive only seen one guy but I can hear so many little voices they are obviously loving the place too. Theres new tiles and cute Chinese decorations around the room. The beverage refrigerator is stocked with unique drinks and the chairs are so comfy! Love it. 5 stars. Definitly No. 1

their food is amazing. they have the best hot and sour soup that i have ever tasted, seriously, if i could eat only one thing for the rest of my life it would be this soup. i also recommend the singapore mei fun, and almost anything else on their menu, minus the General Tsos, its the only thing they dont do well, which is wierd b/c its kind of the standard... Go their for lunch, the prices are rediculously cheap...

I just ordered from this place for the first time, I ordered a large and small shrimp fried rice it came to like $14.something I ask them why the prices are different from website they said its a third party menu. Im like well if you know that this is misleading information why is it still up? Why is it not corrected? I will not use places like this again who mislead people.

Buck Stag, is my nickname. I"m Brian. My whole household, orders from No. 1, all the time. About 15,16 years. the food is always great! Also a large volume of servings, with plenty of extra sauces and some real good cool fortune cookies.It all is uuummm uuummm!!! If you found anything strange in your food! It probably fell out of your dirty hair!! lol!

I was an every week customer at #1 Chinese in Penn Hills 15235 Then one day I Picked up and went home while I was eating my General Tsos I noticed something funky in the breading. I pulled the breading off the outside and realised that it was a BAND-AID. IT WAS SO NASTY !!!!!! I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO EAT CHINESE ANYWHERE SINCE !!!!!!!

I order from this place often because i do like it but today when i was eating there was a maggot or some kind of worm in my food. I called them and asked for my money back. He told me to bring the food and i probably was full and wanted my money back. He also told me they had this issue before... be careful when eating.

Great selection. Food is always prepared well, and is ready when they say it is going to be ready. There are a few tables inside, but Ive never seen anyone actually eat there. Im a big fan if their noodle dishes. They do take credit cards.
