I have been going to the Penn for the last 10 years. Not only do they have excellent food at a reasonable price, but they have a great selection of beers including IPAs, great staff and most importantly great PEOPLE. Not only have I made dozens of friends at this place but I have also made some long lasting friendships, and also met a classy and wonderful woman there who I am still with! I saw the post about racism and being half black myself (although I look Puerto Rican I have been told :) , I can tell you that this place is the farthest from racist as you can come! The reason they dont let pepole with out of state IDs in the bar is because they have had a RASH of very young and very irresponsible 20 something year old children from NJ coming in to the bar, going downstairs, not buying anything (or getting ONE beer), getting into fights, etc, and ruining the overall experience for the actual adults who want to have a good time. I am glad they are filtering those people out because they are not ready to actlike adults in an adult oriented setting. Definitely go to the PENN. You will meet some really nice and geniune people. PLUS THEY AVE 75 CENT DRAFTS! Look at the pictures I have attached. Look racist to you????? LMAO!

It was a decent bar, still may be but the owner doesnt really care about the place or the employees. Id steer just because of the way he treats his employees. Ive been going here regularly for the past 15 years and as of right now Ill never give them another dime and Ive urged others to do the same. From now on I guess well all go to Wagz instead. Its a shame, really, thats a decent bit of coin theyll be missing.

Turned away at the door they said they dont take out of state Id no signs posted only one that says they ID....so they turned our group of 10 away also because we were black n spanish very racist place.... this place is very small......Never again its 2017 and our kind is not accepted mind you Im a American citizen

I have been going there since 1988. The worst part of having moved to Tennessee is there is no Penn Tavern. As for the racist review, no way. No out of state IDs is on in effect after 6 pm. Go in on a Sunday day shift and get some wings or a cheese steak. Always on special on Sundays. Ask for Wendy.

I have no idea what that girl was talking about. This is my goto bar and there is always great friendly service. There are signs on both doors that state clearly that no out of state IDs are accepted there after 6pm. Dont be so quick to drop the racist card when they were just following bar policy.

Love the bar great juke box and reasonable prices ,great service .my bartender even remembered my name and what i drank.all you need is a airhockey table downstairs.thank god no hipsters go there

Amazing, the locals are so funny and have a great sense of humor. Bartenders are very professional and have a great personalities. Ice cold beer is 75cents all day everyday
