Great authentic Irish food and atmosphere. Went here with a group of 8 on a Saturday night. We had drinks in the upstairs bar while we waited for our table. The pours were generous and prices were reasonable. Our bartender and waitress were both friendly and our food was phenomenal! I had the Scotch egg and Ulster fry - all very good and again reasonably priced. The bangers and white pudding were particularly yummy! I saw a previous post re: the Irish coffee and it being weak. I also had an Irish coffee and agree that the coffee brew should have been stronger, but had no complaints about the pour. Irish bars traditionally allow children and this is a restaurant/pub so dont be surprised to have kids seated next to you. Think of it as a truly Irish experience and dont miss it during your stay in Gettysburg.

I had been to Garryowen for a couple of shows years ago and always enjoyed their beer selections, but I had never been for the food. I went for my 27th birthday this year with several friends, and I cant say enough about how great the whole experience was. The atmosphere was unique and definitely felt authentic. Our server, Matt, saw to it that we had the best time possible. He recommended whiskey (which was great... because we were all novices and werent looking to spend a small fortune), and we werent left needing a single thing for the couple of hours that we stayed. Everyone was pleased with their meals-- I had the shepherds pie and french onion soup (made with Guinness), and it was incredible. If youre in Gettysburg, make it a point to stop here.

I hate to be disappointed in an Irish Pub, but here we go. First of all, it is definitely a depressing atmosphere. We sat at the bar (by choice) and ordered a porter and an Irish coffee. The porter was not good (not the bars fault) and the Irish coffee was bad (totally the bars fault). The Irish coffee tasted like old-stale coffee and the cheapest whiskey you can find and in the smallest amount possible. Sufficed to say I wasnt happy about paying $5.75 for 5 oz of gross Irish coffee. We were going to order food, but felt the bartender was slow playing us on taking our order (so we would buy another drink). We snuffed that out real fast and asked for our check and ate elsewhere. No need to return.

What a pleasant little surprise - a confirmation that appearances can deceive. We were a little hesitant at first, due to the appearance of a few patrons outside smoking, but once inside we warmed up to the place. The bar had a great collection of Irish whiskeys, and the bartender did a great job of describing them, based upon those she poured for me. We later started with the Crab and Roasted Red Pepper Bisque, which was unbelievable. I tried to secure the secret recipe, but its well guarded. Youll just have to try it. Our entrées were equally superb, and the service both at the bar and table were outstanding. Well be back for sure and highly recommend this great The Garryowen Irish Pub.

We were looking for something new in Gettysburg & decided to try Garryowens, we loved it. From there thin skin fried potato Nachos to their version of onion soup, these appetizers were excellent & filled with flavor. I had the Guiness beef stew & my wife had the Dublin fish & chips, these were also very good. The meals are very reasonable that we even added dessert. Just repeating myself now, excellent, the skillet cookie sundae. Something I should have mentioned first, the beer selection was excellent with several Irish brews along with others to satisfy anyone. I would recommend this resturant to everyone, well be back.

In Gettysburg for the day with my sisters and we were limited because many restaurants were closed on Sunday. Although we didnt want pub food, we ended up there. Sure glad we did. The food was very with lots of Irish dishes to choose from. They had fireplaces going and the dining room was beautiful. Why didnt I give them 5 stars? They had one type of desert left (2 pm) and it didnt appeal to us. They said it was a very busy weekend. Any restaurant should be able to throw together a cobbler or offer ice-cream. We found excellent deserts just down the street at Food 101.

If you like painfully slow service and "ok" foods/prices this is your place! Came at 2:30 p.m. when they werent busy and it took almost 45 minutes before we got our food. Ordered basic food, like burgers. The food quality, quantity, and price were all in the ok/average range. Nothing special, I honestly dont know where some of these reviews got their 5 stars from. The mens room was also pretty gross. Urine all over the floor. Prices are really good so I guess thats the redeeming factor that brought my experience to a 3/5 rating

We arrived when the kitchen was about to close and we were basically told to hurry up and order. Just be honest, if you have plans, then just tell us you are too sidetracked and want to go home. ...we ordered, sub par at best. Irish nachos with no bacon...we mention no bacon...we know its because, well, who has to make bacon when we are trying to close! Just close! Visitors from out of town and recommended by a local. Would never recommend and will never go back. Thank you for your sad representation

Loved this place! Irish Nachos were awesome! Bangers & Mash had great flavor! Was looking forward to the live Irish Music, but they canceled it for the night we planned on being there for it. They had it playing in the background, but at 5pm when the band was supposed to be finished they put regular American music on - that was disappointing. Everything seems very much like an Irish pub, they should have constant Irish music playing. Thats the only dislike, everything else was great!

Called early in the day to get a reservation and was told that they could not give a reservation due to a group of 20 people and that we could be seated around 6:30 pm. Parked in Gettysburg at 6pm and checked in. They again quoted 6:30. We checked back periodically and no table was ready. At 7:10 pm, we checked in and still nothing. We gave up and ate elsewhere. So, we have no opinion of the food, but clearly their time management is very poor.

Food and service were great. Ordered the Dublin fish and chips which is 16 oz of haddock. Price was right for the serving. The restaurant has a cool Gutiar/Irish theme to it. Be sure to look at the menue first before taking young kids because this is an Irish restaurant and offers a lot of Irish burgers and other such dishes. Great spot to go hangout and grab a bit in Gettysburg. I live in the area and can say this is the best Irish pub around.

We are locals, and this is our favorite pub in town! An authentic Irish pub, owned and managed by a authentic Irish folk! The staff is the BEST and many have been there since the beginning! We know most of them, and we feel at home when we are there! We cant comment much on the food, since we are vegetarian and only eat one thing (veggie burgers). But we DO hear others rave about the food! We go for the staff and the beer!
