I was shocked to come on to review this restaurant and found it had an average of 3 out of 5 stars! I had to double check to make sure I had the right place. I was very happy with my experience here. Reading a few reviews I saw people were complaining because of a long wait time (if you dont want to wait, dont wait and go somewhere else. At least theyre honest and tell you itll be 20 minutes and not just say a few minutes or something), or complaining because there were ads on the menu. Really? Maybe Im just more laid back than most people, what do I care if there are ads on some pages on the menu. I just didnt read the ads, no biggie. People also complained because they had to leave their drivers license when they take the pager to wait for a table. Well, honestly, whats to stop someone from getting mad from waiting and just throwing away or breaking the pager. You get your license right back after your pager goes off. Theyre just trying to keep from having to buy new pagers when they go "missing". So, our evening there did start off with us waiting about a half hour for a table. It was very busy. But they told us itd be about that long and asked if we wanted to wait. Wasnt a problem, we had plenty of time to kill before our ghost tour late that evening. Our waiter was wonderful, so pleasant and friendly. We got drink refills quickly, werent waiting long to place our order or for food. In the menu is the story of the owner and a fire they had, they also had a thank you and tribute to the firemen in the menu, so they got more respect from me right there! The one problem we did have was the low lighting in the place. For some of us, it was difficult to read the menu or the stories because the lighting seemed dim. I understand it was probably good for ambiance and dinner, but maybe having a dimmer switch on the little light next to the table that could be turned up at the table would be handy. But, thats minor. Now to discuss the food.......on a recommendation from someone else we met that day, my husband ordered the bread bowl of the crab soup. It was amazing! I dont like soup, but when I tasted his, I was sorry I didnt order any. Real crab meat, not that fake stuff. Totally delish! My burger was oh SO good! Medium well was actually medium well! We were with a group of friends (5 of us) and not one of us had a single complaint or mistake on our order (and 1 of the 5 of us is so picky and always finds something wrong...lol, but not that night!) The bathrooms were upstairs and just darling with a beautiful bowl sink (is that what theyre called?) There was also a gorgeous banquet room upstairs we peeked in to look at. That would be a wonderful location for bridal showers, rehearsal dinners or something that needs an elegant look. Wonderful food, great service, lovely building....definitely 5 out of 5!

OFFICIALLY THE WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! Let me start by saying I do not normally take the time to write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so in this case. It was a beautiful, late, October Saturday in Gettysburg. We decided to eat Dinner at The Pub & Restaurant because the better restaurants were booked up. The hostess informed us there would be a 30 minute wait. To our surprise that wait went on for an hour and a half. After voicing my frustration to the hostess we were seated right away. I explained to the waitress how long our wait was and that we had a tour to go on later that same night. She offered no apology and explained that they were very busy and it basically could not be helped (in so many words). She did not serve us any water. I asked the waitress if she could do anything to speed the order up and received about the same response. After a long wait we started to notice that other customers that arrived more then 45 minutes after we had arrived were enjoying their meals. The waitress finally returned to our table and explained that she was sorry because she never placed our order. I was so disgusted by this point I got up to speak to the manager on duty Christi. I explained our situation & she reluctantly apologized and said she would look into it. I returned to my table & finally ate my Dinner. The waitress gave us our bill & to my shock it was for the full amount. When I approached the manager and said, "is this what you mean by making things right". Christi (the manager) said she would consider taking off the drinks & appetizers. I was so upset I told her to charge me for the full amount of the bill and that she had a lot to learn about customer service. Christi asked if I could move to somewhere less obvious to talk so the other customers would not hear our conversation and then called me belligerent when I refused. We then left the restaurant and rushed to our tour which we were late for. The whole experience took well over 3 hours of our time. I sincerely recommend you do not choose this restaurant while in Gettysburg! Update: I spoke with the General Manager Jeff. He not only did not offer any apologizes he also seemed to side with the managers point of view. What a surprise...

We stopped in at the Pub for its great curb appeal and central location. It had an "older" character to it which really appealed to us. Our server was a bit abrupt initially, but cordial. I ordered a New York Strip for $26.50 which disappointingly came with only one side. My companion ordered the Chicken Parmesan. The food came out in an acceptable time, but thats where it ended. The steak was medium well to well done, despite my order of medium rare. I understand orders occasionally be mistaken, but take care of the customer when they do! Our waitress was nowhere to be found for nearly ten minutes after bringing our food. Its not like they were busy either, the restaurant less than a quarter filled! My food getting cold, I finally went to the hostess station and the manager came out to the table. I had the steak cut open in three separate places to show that there was NO red whatsoever. She proceeded to tell me that it was "a little red" and told me I was wrong. Then she turned it to my companion and said "See, its red isnt it??" My companions reply was "No, theres barely even any pink inside!" We argued a bit about it for a while until she said she would turn up the lights so I could see. I saved her the trouble, shining a high powered flashlight I often carry on it. She finally gave up trying to convince us the remaining hint of pink in the middle was actually red. She finally agreed to take it off the bill, not offering to replace it with anything unless I paid for it. We then waited again for about 10 minutes to get the bill, then another approximately 15 minutes for her to take it up. The combination of high price, lousy food, bad service and even worse attitude from the employees ensures that we will never go back. After eating steak at restaurants from Applebees to The 1913 Room (AAA Five Diamond restaurant) I have come to appreciate a good cut, this was far from. To add insult to injury, the Chicken Parm was very bland and of less quality than Fazolis. I recommend the Plaza Restaurant and Lounge right across the roundabout. We ate there the preceding night and found the food to be good and service excellent!
