Having visited Dillsburg once per year on business, Flapjacks was usually a regular stop--not because of the quality, but because quite frankly, they are the only "happening place" in the small town. Until this year, TONIGHT, when I vowed never to go again. We went after dinner, and bieng understaffed and overcrowded makes getting your food or drink orders impossible. Cold appetizers and wrong type drinks and a crew of 6 meant my $200 bill added up quick. We left a $45 tip even though in my opinion, it should have been much, much less. We felt sorry for them as they always seem so understaffed. Staying at an adjoining hotel, my lighting tech and secretary went over for a night cap much later hoping it would be less crowded and they felt like getting a drink to finish off a late night of work. They each ordered a beer and a shot. They were served two beers and fifteen minutes later got the shots they ordered (one being wrong.). Total bill was $21. They tipped $2 on the counter, and ordered one more shot. They were thrown out immediately by a man, who said, "We work on tips and are refusing to serve you." My crew stormed out and came to me, knowing that Im in the entertainment field. They came back telling me that they gave the tip that was "deserved" on the service they recieved. I immediately thought there must be some misundertstanding. I called to inquire and obtained a manager named "H***r" but well call "SALLY", who said that two guys just spent $45 and left $3 tip. (Odd, my crew was a guy and a girl, and only left a $2 tip, but SALLY just cited another example of someone leaving a crappy tip, hmmm wonder why?) I explained to her the situation and how I felt it awful they were refused to be served based on the fact they tipped on the service they received. She said, "We work on tips. We can legally refuse to serve anyone. I dont have time for this--" and hung up on me. I was left with a dial tone in my ear thinking about this, and it got me more and more upset. Not because of the cold food I ordered earlier, or every one of the nine years of crappy service Ive received since Id been there, but now they were taking out on my crew. I called again and then asked for the owner or name of the owner to write a restaurant review (and was immediately given a rather offensive man who claimed to be the owner but would not give me his name.) When I tried to explain how upset I was after spending all that money with them earlier in the evening and my continued patronage of this place, that my crew was refused service based on tips, and that they received crappy service so left a crappy tip (in my opinion they could have left NO TIP) --- I was immediately cut off by him and he said, "Do you know who I am? I could care less. I dont need your business. I can refuse anyone if they leave SH*IT*Y tips. Come on over and talk to me and grow some balls!" Then he hung up on me too. No, Mr. Owner, Im not coming over there , in fact the best thing I can do for you is make sure everyone knows that you dont care about your customers. (Wonder where the other guys are that only left a $3 tip, what do they think of your service?) People of Dillsburg or visiting folks: Wise up and find another place in this town who cares about serving YOU THE CUSTOMER in a timely manner and with accuracy.

Flapjacks 9 N. U.S. Route 15, Dillsburg - Cesspool Regular inspection: Out of compliance Facility does not have procedures for employees to follow when responding to an event involving vomitus or fecal matter discharge onto surfaces within the facility. The person in charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Quaternary ammonia sanitizer at the bar was in excess of 200 parts per million. Food in the walk-in was stored open with no covering. Souffle cup, with no handle, was being used as a scoop for the ice cream sprinkles. Time and temperature controlled for safety food which is ready to eat and held for more than 24 hours was not being date marked. Food employee was not using available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine sanitizer concentration. There was a large accumulation of ice in the walk-in freezer which is from a leaking pipe. Bar glasses were not being sanitized due to employees washing, sanitizing and rinsing. Wet wiping cloths were not stored in a wiping cloth bucket. Bar soda gun and holster were not clean to sight and touch. French fry cutter had food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. There was a black mold type substance inside the ice machine. Observed a significant leaking pipe under the bar area. There was no drain line from the bar soda holster to a drain. Two sinks were leaking at the three bay sink. The ceiling, by the back door, is falling apart and has exposed insulation which can contaminate food and utensils. Lights are not shielded or shatterproof by the walk-in. The back door in the kitchen was wide open and a hose was leading from the inside to the outside. No sign or poster was posted at the hand wash sink in the mens room to remind food employees to wash their hands. Mops were not being hung to air dry.

Its closed now.. permanently, until someone buys it and opens it back up. To whoever buys the place, if you open a bar in it again.. Knock down the walls in the bar area. Turn it into an outside bar/deck area. Update the restrooms, make them functional. Make sure the locks work, especially in the mens room (nothing like walking into the restroom while someones taking a dump, and theres no stall..). Get rid of the restaurant area. Turn it into an inside bar. Offer pub food from the kitchen, but nothing spectacular. These are all ideas the regular customers for the most part agree on. This place is a gold mine. If you know how to run a bar, youll succeed huge. Please, somebody reopen the pub for us.

When we arrived, listened to waitress talk about getting customer complaints all morning. We got our drinks after about 15 minutes. It wasnt busy. When drinking my iced tea, found something black and hard in it. Waitress didnt even apologize. Waited another 40 minutes to get our food. My husbands peas were soured and the roast beef and gravy were cold. Left his whole meal sit and told cashier when paying. Still cost us $28 for a meal we didnt eat. Tried for 3 weeks to contact a manager who was never in and wouldnt return my calls. Never ever again. This really makes me angry since there arent that many breakfast establishments in Dillsburg. Dont waste your time or money.
