I went here for lunch with my friend and from service to food this place was a disaster. She ordered a soup which took 20 minutes to come out. The server apologised saying that she got distracted. That on its own would not have been terrible but while we were waiting we found clumps of MOLD in the water bottle they brought to our table. When we finally got our servers attention she apologised and got us water from the bar. Needless to say our appetites were ruined. After some more waiting we realized that she hadnt told the manager about what had happened and we flagged a busser to call the manager over. Before she got to our table we noticed the manager speaking with our server but when she got to our table she acted as though she had no clue why we called her over. When we explained about the MOLD to the manager she apologised and told us that the kitchen staff was supposed to wash the bottles every day but you know sometimes things happen. (So they dont wash them after every use?!) I have been a restaurant manager before and have NEVER served MOLD to a guest nor would I have ever told them that sometimes things happen. For an hour and a half and a $30 meal they had so many opportunities to do better. Guess our company happy hours are going to be at City Works from now on.

We ordered our food and the waitress seemed great. However, I noticed that she didnt write anything down and sadly it showed. Only 1 order came out correct. I told her about my childrens pasta which was ordered "dry no oil or butter with sauce on the side". They both came out with oil or butter and covered in cheese. The waitress came over after the food was delivered. We showed her the issue and she reordered the pasta for what we thought was both kids. Instead only 1 order came back out and this time it had less butter but, was still not dry like I asked. We forced our kids to eat it. I asked for broccoli instead of fries with my meal. The broccoli was sitting in a salt water sauce. I think they broke the salt shaker over it. I mentioned that to the waitress. She did nothing to correct it or even offer to correct it. And, at no time did a manager come visit us. And, when she brought the bill it had all the food on it including the up charge for the broccoli. We always leave a 20%+ tip. However, in this case we did not. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The restaurant looks great from the inside but, after we left we discussed that we should have taken the kids to Wendys down the road. At least then their food would have been better quality.

I was at McKenzie Brew a little while ago with a friend I had not seen for a while. I attempt to eat relatively healthy meals, so I chose the tomato and mozzarella flatbread. The name pretty much tells you what to expect, flat bread, some mozzarella cheese, and a little tomato. Ive had this at so many restaurants, but never has one messed up a flatbread like MBH. I am probably one of the easiest restaurant customers out there as Im not at all picky about waitstaff and I have never been even tempted to send my food back. At McKenzie, my meal came out and I was mortified. Had I not been with someone I hadnt seen for a while I 100% would have returned my meal, but I didnt want to make an embarrassment of myself or show my disappointment. My "flatbread" was about 2 inches of bread thick with what looked like shredded, out of the bag mozzarella slightly melted on top with maybe 20 small squares of identically chopped tomato on top. I couldnt believe that this meal could come out of a restaurants kitchen and be deemed acceptable. I have had microwavable meals more appetizing. I would never recommend MBH based on the fact that my meal could actually be served to a patron. So disappointed.

Had my wifes 30th birthday here. The back room was accommodating for all of our guests (50). This was one of the only places where we could get an open bar and buffer for a great price. The food was incredible. I wasnt expecting much, but everyone loved the quality of the food. Had two servers that were assigned to the party, which I thought may not be enough, but I was blown away by how attentive they were to the guests. Everyone was raving about them, and how they never had to wait long for a drink. I tipped them each an additional $50 on top of the $100 they received from gratuity. Would definitely recommend this place for a private party, and for dinner!

Went in around 6 for dinner and the place was empty. We shouldve turned around. Drink orders took forever considering there werent any guests. I ordered crabcakes and they were disgustingly dry. Its rare I turn down a crabcakes. The Shepherds pie was too hot (temperature) to eat. Second round of drinks, ordered during appetizers, didnt come out until after dinner was served. Then my crabcakes which I hardly ate didnt come off the bill like any restaurant with a conscious would when they throw out a whole plate of food. youre probably better off eating your $20 bill. On a good note, the beers and french fries are decent.

Service is subpar. Servers & bartenders are not very aware or willing to assist. Just one example - A friend at my table spilled her drink everywhere, enough of a scene for everyone near us to notice, and noone who worked there offered assistance. I literally walked into the kitchen to find towels to clean up the ice and drink myself. We go here for weekly trivia which is fun. If my friends didnt find this place convenient to get together to catch up I would not go back. The food & drinks are good but when you have to wait so long for the service...you lose interest on wanting to order or ask for another.

We come here often if only because it is very close to home. Consistantly mediocre, inattentive service with LOTS of discrepencies between what is ordered and what is received from the kitchen. A real disconnect issue. Tonight when we arrived there was no host and entrance hall was filled with numerous groups waiting to be seated. I took it upon myself to hunt for the host who was in the bar. This relatively small annoyance set the tone for the afforementioned screw-ups. I hope someone at M.B. reads this and steps up to the plate.

Im kind of shocked by the low-star reviews here. The soups are all FANTASTIC. Im a native of Montreal, and MBP serves the best French onion soup Ive had since I left (only available Mondays, sadly) and my wife and son order the crab soup every time we go. Their amber beer is perfect... and the food has always given me the impression of fine dining at a reasonable price. Service sometimes slow. Never really bothered me though.

Hosted a party here for ~40 people. They had a private room that was well lit and had windows. The food and staff were great, they always made sure all of our guests had everything they wanted to drink. Their prices are very reasonable for a party of that size, we did the good times buffet and a tab bar. Also, we were allowed to bring in our own cake for the party and decorate the room early. I would host a party here again.
