If you want a place to kick back a couple and watch the kids make new friends, I would rate this 5 stars. If you want a place to try a great selection of house crafted brews, 5 stars. If you are looking to have a good dinner or lunch, 3 stars. If you are looking for great service, 1 star. The environment is awesome! The food was edible. We ordered the nachos, mac and cheese, crab cakes and their twist on the philly cheese steak. Service was horrible. Our waitress was clearly overworked or she just did not want to be there. When the nachos came to the table we did not get any plates; and she was no where to be seen for nearly 15 minutes. Drinks went empty and our bar order was still missing. Finally the bar order came and main course (by runners) and asking for a refill for those not drinking was like pulling teeth. As soon as the plates hit the table the runners were gone. We sorted the dishes properly. Our waitress finally made an appearance and we hit her with refills for the entire table and a new round of bar orders. She was not happy. We found it absolutely disgusting to see dogs on chairs attempting to lick at their owners plates. If the place is dog friendly, fine but keep them on the floor where they belong. It was also very disturbing to watch as a server pet a dog. And it wasnt a polite pat on the head it was a deep massage type pet. Ugh!! We later watch as that same server placed a good order on the table with her thumb on the topside of the plate, inches from food. Servers should not be allowed to touch the animals. The play area is awesome. Corn hole, jenga, playset artificial turf. Our kids had a blast, so much so they worked up an appetite and ate some of the home made mac and cheese which was very bland. No cheese flavor at all. Overall the place has a nice vibe, great beer selection and just ok food with poor service. They need to focus more on service and a better, "real" chef in the kitchen.

This was the worst experience weve ever had with a restaurant. There was a 40 minute wait and we were invited to hang out in their play yard while we waited, and we were able to order food out there as well. Despite signs posted everywhere, children of all ages were not supervised (says this teacher), my children were pushed around on the playground and 3 middle schoolaged girls jumped off a bench knocking it over onto my sleeping baby in her car carrier. This was just the first 15 minutes. When 2 people brought food to another group next to me, I tried to get their attention to ask how to order food, I was blatenly ignored, despite several "excuse me" statements as I chased them across the lawn. We ordered at the bar, 3/4 of our food arrived and my husband had to hunt his dinner down for the next 20 minutes. Our table became available as food was delivered, no one came by, we had to hunt down our own silverware and plates so we could start eating. Eventually my husbands dinner came and we were promised a manager would come see us. He listened to our concerns but could only offer free drinks or desserts because we had to pay and tip in full when we ordered the food. Having been a waitress in the past, this was insufficient. Offering drinks and dessert should be reserved for that "fly in the soup" moment, not a meal where we did ALL of the work ourselves and were ignored by staff several times. We will never go back. Beer was subpar at best.

The decor was awesome, and although we went on a rainy slow day, the outside looked like it would be fun for a family or adult night out. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. The negatives were that I had ordered an espresso martini, which came out looking like a chocolate sundae..with a pile of whip cream and chocolate syrup down to the cherry on top. That would have been okay if I had ordered perhaps a mocha...it tasted okay just not what I had really ordered. The food was also a bit of a disappointment, the apps were okay, very basic hard to mess up. I ordered the short ribs..the dish was WAY too salty. I was unable to eat the meal. I tried a bite of the chicken fried chicken and again it was OKAY. For desert we had the smores. Again the idea is great, but I guess you would expect a little something different than the average marshmallow, graham, and couple pieces of Hershey chocolate. I really love the concept, and for just a bar/pub it works..you cant beat beer brewed on the premises, however the food is very lacking and maybe a little brush up from the bartenders on drinks other than beer. Hopefully they are able to tweak the things that need fixing, I would certainly try it again, if nothing else for beer, service and atmosphere.

The atmosphere here has led many to believe that this restaurant is better than it actually is. Ive eaten here three times, and the most recent visit will definitely be my last. My boyfriend got food poisoning from their chili nachos and ended up being sick starting on Christmas Eve and then all day on Christmas. While I understand that food contamination happens sometimes, the food here is a disappointment even without getting sick. Twice, Ive gotten a sandwich here hoping to at least enjoy a fresh bun that they advertise on their menu, but both times, the bun has been stale and dry. Their meat is flavorless and dry, like the bread. For the prices that they charge, Id expect to have quality food that is skillfully cooked, but I just ended up disappointed. If youre one of those people who cares more about the atmosphere than the food when dining out, then Crooked Hammock may be for you. However, if you prefer quality cooking, I suggest you look someplace else.

the food was OK but extremely overpriced. That would have been fine if the staff hadnt obviously been instructed to nickel and dime the customers. When you are paying $14 for a sausage in a bun with no side you dont want to also have to beg for napkins and a cup of water. The chicken nuggets we ordered off of the kids menu was likewise more expensive than I would have thought, and it ALSO came with no side and only 3 pieces of chicken. We had 3 kids with us and when we first asked for water were told they do bottled water and how much it cost. Excuse me, but that is ridiculous. The staff was polite and clearly uncomfortable at some of the policies the management had imposed. Also, the music was too loud. At our table on the patio you could only hear the person sitting right next to you. It was nice that there was a place for kids to play so grown ups could drink and chat without the kids in their hair, but everything was too expensive to stay very long.

Great food, love that they have music often but wish it was moreso during the day as well (perhaps for busy lunch hours)? The service has been good but not stellar. It definitely is a laid back place but overall, has a lot more to offer than its competition (other local restaurants). The playground and outdoor games area is their highlight for families but I have noticed a lot of kids arent supervised as well as youd hope. That is not the restaurants fault, of course but just a tip for those with little ones. It is an older kids playground and not toddler friendly. The atmosphere is great with a beachy/backyard feel with hammocks, cornhole, ping pong table, artificial turf and playground. It is comfortable yet busy, most of the time. Definitely one of the best local spots!
