I was surprised. The service was precise and professional. I had the patty melt with cole slaw and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The soup with thick, chewy noodle and large pieces of chicken was very tasty even though it was standard for a chain restaurant. My patty melt arrived just as I finished the soup and was piping hot. So hot I had to let it rest a few minutes before attempting a second bite. I love patty melts. There is something about the taste of melted cheese over sauteed onions that takes me to mouth heaven. This one is one of my all time favorites. As it was free pie Wednesday and still the first week of November I had to have a slice of pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream. It was delicious. Cant wait for Thanksgiving. Heres a tip you can try the next time you get a pie at Sharis. Lightly touch the whipped cream with your finger tip. If the cream sticks to your finger it is fresh. If not, go to Village Inn and never attempt Sharis again. I know I wont.

The Village Inn on Stark Street is okay. The place is nice inside and clean and the help was very well-mannered and kind. But the meals in my opinion were more spendy and the portion of Pancakes they gave me were like thin little crepes. I ordered two pancakes two eggs hash browns and sausage links. If you want a good breakfast I would recommend going across the street at the Village Inn and go to that restaurant which I will not name because the prices are lower there and you get big large thick pancakes.

Get it together!!! John Ramsey needs to come here. My husband got the worsted end of it when they brought out his plate he noticed the wrong kind of cheese on the omelette which was fixable then the hash browns had to be sent back . The waitress said she couldnt bring it out but she did for us to take home, they were drenched in grease, We left them. What I didnt like was the check sent with the food. I felt that meant hurry and leave no kidding. Very disappointed.

Service was fast but the food was terrible. Kids menu claims to use kraft macaronic & cheese but its not. The kids struggled to eat it. The chicken pot pie was another failed menu choice. After half way of through our experience the cook came out of the kitchen looking like he had just got done working on a vehicle in the parking lot. I would question if this place could pass a health inspection. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!

The staff are mainly in their forties the management in there late fifties to sixties and the clientele is mainly 30 + which is wonderful because you dont have screaming kids while youre eating breakfast if you want that go across the street to Dennys. The food is I would say a warm and comfortable plate the atmosphere is warm and cozy and definitely is not a millennial hangout which is wonderful.

Was a great experience food was ok but the service i got from jenny day was what made it a good experience. ....and i watch some sorry guy with his girl eat 30.00 worth of food and tip the waitress 2 dollars ....some people i swear...he thought about 3 and put the one back and only left 2 .....dude if you read this you suck and you know who you are you should be tipping 20%

Have frequented this location for nearly four decades. Food & service have been good, manager not so much. Warning: do NOT fill out their surveys because they twist all the results - you can report high marks and make great comments, but somehow the bottom line score converts into a big, bad review. Tried to resolve this issue with their Corporate folks, but no one cares.

First two times I went here it was decent. Service was lacking. This last time I went, the food was pretty gross. Greasy, and/or overcooked. Might try it again someday, but its off my radar for a while. Also, dont bother trying their rhubarb pie. Its the worst Ive ever had. Very spicy and hard to chew.

This is a clean and friendly breakfast chain with comparatively top quality food at moderate prices. I particularly like the breakfast here and would choose it over Dennys for quality and price, but not over a Sharis for price or Elmers for quality. Nothing memorable about this particular Village Inn.

Went here with my children and the place was remodeled very nicely. The staff is friendly and the menu is traditional. If you want great fast traditional breakfast you must have it here. Definitely underrated for a Portland breakfast stop. We bought the pies to take home and they were delicious!

This place has great food and for cheep. Also on Wednesdays they have FREE PIE! You can beat it when a restaurant wants to give you free dessert. I had the chicken fried steak and it was delicious, tender fried to perfection. And best yet the pie was great, tender flaky crust.

Great service and not too crowded on a Sunday Morning. Poached eggs were slightly under cooked, but the Scrumptious Key Lime Pie, is fantastic!!!! I bought a whole one and may have to get another before they are out for the season!

I had a hankering for a French Dip sandwich. Called up Village Inn for a to-go order, 9:30PM, and they had it ready in less than 10 min. It was packed well for travel, with a lot of fries, and very delicious - for under $10.

The food and service is amazing. Also the environment is great for a quiet talk, or a date. The price has increased a little after the remodeling, but its worth every penny. I have never left unsatisfied.

My second favorite restaurant in Portland. The environment is nice as are the staff. The food is a good value. I do not eat at restaurants too much but I like coming to this location of Village Inn.

Great customer service but I think the food portion could have been better considering I only got half a sandwich and salad when it cost around 10 dollars ;other then that great experience

We come here about once a month and we get the same friendly waitress every time. Reminds me of going out to dinner as a kid before corporations took over. I miss the old style diners.

Clean establishment, quick and efficient staff that are also friendly. The portions are realistic limiting waste and the prices are spot on. New favorite brunch spot for the family.

Better chain to get breakfast at, $11-$12 a person for breakfast and coffee. Recently renavated, always clean and they give you a coffee pot so you not need to wait for refills
