The food at Verde Cocina is unlike any Mexican food I’ve had, in the best way possible. You might not equate fresh local vegetables with Mexican food, but let me tell you, the vegetables are as prominent in the enjoyment of the dish as the meat. That’s really saying something since the meat is free range, without antibiotics, local, and delicious. The flavor of the dishes are captivating in that once I start eating, I find myself appreciating the flavors and textures without much conversation between bites. Though the meat is rich, the ingredients carry the dish rather than relying on salt and fat (oil or butter) to add flavor; as I find in too many other restaurants. Of the dishes I’ve had, the spices are sometimes familiar, and at other times a surprise: true to the spice, but not like the spice combos used at other Mexican restaurants. Simple, fresh, firm, and juicy ingredients play well with the other components of the dish making it interesting and fun. Meat and vegetables grown and cooked with respect for meat and vegetable lovers, is a phrase that comes to mind. I am familiar with the newer location at Canyon Ct at Sylvan Hill, off of Highway 26. Service is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is open and inviting. If you’re looking for someplace new to try, and you’re looking for something maybe a little bit familiar but considerably better than what you’ve had before, I can’t see going wrong with Verde Cocina.

Terrible service. We came in with our three young kids after we gave up on a 45 minute zoo lights shuttle wait. To be fair, this seemed like a high-end Mexican restaurant so not particularly suited for young kids. BUT we were in a pinch with some hungry kids. The waiter showed up and my wife explained that we were looking for some appetizers. Having bith worked in the food service industry (me for 5+ years, my wife for 10+), we immediately sensed the attitude change as the waiter realized we wouldnt be a big ticket. My wife asked if they had taquitos. But she couldnt think of the word so she inquired with our waiter. She asked, "I cant think of the name...its fried..." The waiter cut her off and said, "chips?" Chips?!? What a punk. We let it slide and ordered his recommendation asking if kids would like it. He assured us they would. Now, again, benefit of the doubt, how can he know what our kids would like. But, as a waiter, if you dont know if kids will like it, say so. What we ordered was totally not kid friendly. He came to our table once and that was about 5-7 minutes after our food came. And it was a quick table touch of everything fine? We requested for a second time water for our children. Never brought waters for the kids, paid little attention to us. Two appetizers for $18 should come with a modicum of good service. We wont be back.

Verde Cucina opened about four months ago in the place of Sylvan Steakhouse ( which was a terrible place) Verde Cucina is a farm to fork Mexican restaurant with delicious, well-prepared food. I had homemade corn tortillas filled with cheese on a bed of freshly cooked veggies and topped with delicious brisket chunks. My husband had scrambled eggs, the same veggies I had, candied bacon chunks and two corn tortillas. We were very pleased and intend to return. The wait staff was very helpful and quick. Try it, you will enjoy it.

Delicious, grass-fed beef and verde bowls. I had the chorizo verde bowl with black beans and white beans and I asked for both quinoa and brown rice. It was great! My only complaint is that some of the beans didnt seem to be cooked all the way. I tried my BFFs beef and hers was really good (get it cooked medium or medium-rare, its awesome.) My husband ordered the paleo bowl with carne asada and I loved it. The service was also friendly and fast! I will definitely order that next time.

One of my favorite restaurants! The food is consistently good and high quality. I nearly always sit in the bar, so I cant speak for the wait staff, but the bar tenders here are phenomenal. One good thing to note that they dont necessarily advertise, is that theres menu items you can only get at the bar (you also get the full restaurant menu) that are different by Verde Cocina locations. I highly recommend the street tacos which are only available at this location!

Wow! We stopped here on our way home to Eugene and were definitely impressed! Our waitress, Anna is what I think her name is, was so sweet and even played with our 3yr old for a few mins. All their food was fresh and local which makes it worth the price. I cant eat many places because of my celiac disease so this was a nice surprise to find. Well definitely be coming back here again on our next visit.

Great outdoor patio. Very spacious. Service was friendly and quick. Food is delicious and has a unique spin on some classics like carne asada. Chips, guac and salsa all had great flavor and were very fresh. They have a small wine selection, but decent picks. It can be a little weird to get there if you dont know the streets in that area, so you may need to google map it.

I guess I prefer a bit more basic fare... service was a little slow, but of great quality. Dont get the Carne Assada, it was tough and flavourless. DO get the cheez quesadia plate, it was great. In my opinion, the menu would benefit from some staples. Still overall a positive dining experience--just not my fave.

Overpriced. The "farm-to-table" marketing is a gimmick that basically just boils down to them throwing quinoa and carrots into every dish. Also, the waiter was a little pushy on the appetizers. But asside from that, the outdoor seating area was very pleasant and the mashed potatoes and carne asada was tasty.

Convenient location right off highway 26 at the Sylvan exit. We are outdoors and really didnt hear much noise from the cars. There is a nice fireplace with take around it. The food is fresh and delicious. These dishes are light and flavorful, not traditional Mexican cooking. The cocktails were refreshing.

Loved all the Mexican food we had. Went with another couple and a variety of fish and chicken dishes. All excellent. The food was exceptional. The service was a bit slow, but it was crowded and the mashed avocado appetizer was to die for. One of my favorite dining experiences in quite a while.

Holy mole! Everything is farm-to-table fresh. Great brunch menu and tasty drinks. Something for everyone.....paleo to vegan. Two patios (one dog-friendly)....just wish I could shut out the traffic noise from Sunset Hwy. Go for happy hour (all day Sunday) and brunch. Never too crowded.

Weve tried almost everything on the menu, as well as a few daily specials, and nothing has impressed. Service at this location has been poor on several occasions. Really disappointing, because the kitchen is gluten free. Thats about the only thing that brings me back.
