First of all i would like to say i love the wall posters! I took me and my women there last night before pool league. i ordered the "Kentucky bleu burger" IT WAS FANTASTIC, EVEN FOR 9.50 FANTASTIC!! However my lady did not have the same experience i had. Apparently " the only flavor im getting, is from the left over dishwater in my glass". So i decided to try hers and to my surprise, it was flavorless! Now onto the fries...oh the fries... have you ever heard the expression "BAG FULL OF DICKS"? Well these fries were no fries at all...in fact i believe they were giblets either left at the bottom of the freezer bag or from the bottom of the fryer? None of them were more then 1 long so i would have to say they were more like "BAG FULL OF FORESKINS"! My question is, why send those out of the kitchen? not mention charge me 5.50 for fried foreskins? Anyhow, Given the choice again i would pay another 9bux for the burger i received cause it was impeccable! i would send the fries back for new ones (always awkward), and then probably go alone due to my significant others last experience. over all i think once consistency is back in the kitchen it will have 5 star rating but when 2 people at the same table have vastly different experiences....That will be hard to achieve. With all that being said "GO TRY IT FOR YOURSELF" order the "kentucky bleu burger" and and stay away from the deep fried foreskins or ask for new one and you wont regret it.

Ive been to foster burger many times over the past year or so, always been happy with the service and highly reccommended it to others.. After my most recent experience I cant say Ill be telling others of this place again. To start off the waiter who seated us seemed more annoyed that we walked in the door than anything, he wanted to seat is at the tables and I requested a booth instead, he said okay dropped the menus on the booth table and walked off.. When he did come back he took our drink and food orders and then left.. We grabbed a high chair for my son and before we could sit him in it he took it back saying that the area needed to be open for wheelchairs, totally reasonable right? Except for the fact that the staircase you have to walk up after you enter the restaraunt might pose a bigger issue for a handicapped patron, but fine no high chair my son likes to sit with me while we eat anyway. Then the food came, my wife loves avocado and at $2 a pop Id hope its at least fresh, but no, majority was black.. She didnt eat it. My burger was severely undercooked red from edge to edge im all for a rare burger but that was a little ridiculous. They agreed it was severely undercooked and replaced it.. I popped it in a to-go container and we left. Cant say well be back anytime soon.

We went to Foster Burger last night after having tried a couple of weeks ago and the wait was going to be 45-60 minutes. We were seated right away and my first impression was that it was a lot lighter in there than when it was Cava. The menu is limited but that seems to be on purpose, do a few things but do them really well sort of idea. I had a vanilla bourbon shake that was pretty good, very rich but then its a shake. We started out with the Black & White fries, which are their standard fries but drizzled with white truffle oil & Parmesan cheese with a squid ink dipping sauce on the side. The fries were good but again, very rich and we couldn’t finish them. I ordered the Foster burger with caramelized onions and my husband got the Kiwi burger. My burger was huge and very good, but the caramelized onions had an odd flavor to them. I’m not sure what it was but they didn’t taste right. Unfortunately, Cava still holds a special place in our hearts and so the visit to Foster Burger was not very impressive to us. Might just be sentimentality but I doubt we will be back unless friends of ours want to try it out. Service is excellent, food is decent, the place good, it’s just not as good as Cava was.

Awesome! Second time... raised my star level to five... WOW. The most moist and fresh burger I have ever had and I have done my research. I was doing a best of Portland 2016 survey and I wanted to give a fair review, so I went in again today for some take out for me and a coworker. It knocked my socks off! Absolutely great! I had a foster burger with brie, bacon and grilled onions. He had a foster burger with cheddar. We shared an order of Foster Poutine... YES just Yes... fries piled with pork belly, gravy and cheese. Sound weird, tastes amazing!!! I wish the bar tender with the purple hair would crack a smile... She was cold as ice while I awkwardly sat there waiting for my to go order and I remember the same thing when I dined in last time. First Review- Had a really good lamb burger. Great environment. Awesome staff. Very interesting menu. Cool neighborhood. They have a little bar in there. The only complaint i have is that they really play to the weird Portland people (hipster/snobby organic types) All around a fantastic experience both times.

There were about 4 people in the whole establishment when we arrived and we waited 20 minutes to finally get served. All we wanted was "The Foster Burger", but I guess it takes a while to get prepared for such a complicated order. The server was not very nice which didnt help matters much either. Then we waited another 30 minutes to receive our 2, super complicated burgers. We finally got our food only to find it was burnt to a CRISP! I mean these things looked like hockey pucks! And tasted like them too! YUCK! The server did ask if we wanted 2 new burgers, but we didnt feel like waiting another hour for that. Then we got the bill, $20, for probably 2 of the worst burgers we have ever had. And I still cant get that taste out of my mouth. No thanks Foster Burger, Ill stick with Burgerville.

My husband got the kiwi burger and it was delicious. I got the regular burger and it was fine, but certainly not spectacular especially at those prices. I can get a tasty burger at Steakadelphia for under $5 and a truly delicious burger at Dicks on Belmont for around $7. The black and while fries were crispy and delicious but the fishiness of the squid ink aioli just didnt work. The service was good, but the overall atmosphere of the place is what I dislike the most. Theres a hipstery kind of snobbishness that hangs framed printouts of its negative yelp reviews on the wall by the bathrooms. Id rather patronize businesses that genuinely want to delight customers with their creativity and talent rather than make us feel like were lucky to be there at all.

Im so happy this place is close to me! I love their burgers, from the simple to the fancy. The meat is well-seasoned, they understand the meaning of medium well, and the house sauce is very tasty. I mostly order take out from here. When I do dine in the staff is always friendly and food comes in a timely manner. I appreciate the little things like that. I dropped in for Burger Week as well and was very impressed with their offering. I thought maybe it would be much smaller than the regular burger -- nope. And no one in the place acted like it was some terrible burden to deal with people who wanted a $5 burger. Love this place, will be back for more.
