I came to this place for a birthday party my group had three adults and three children under the age of 7 years old. We started off by getting drink and miso soup. Then the birthday girl asked to order a Alcohol drink a lavender lemonade, let me tell you the waiter NEVER ID HER and she was in her 20s regardless of her age if this place knew there laws they would id anyone ordering a Alcoholic drink. She later receives her drink it didnt taste like the one she has had before she we kindly asked the waiter to have the drink replaced and he took the drink back to the bar attender, later came back with it said they cant take it back and she needs to drink it. She refused asked then to kindly take the drink back and again the waiter took the drink back walked around with it brought it back said she needs to finish it and she is being charged for it talk about VERY RUDE? We asked to speak to the manager instead the bar attender (Short, Balder hair) guy came and was pissed saying he was the manager and that its AGAINST THE LAW TO RETURN A ALCOHOLIC DRINK BACK. So I guess that returning the drink is against the LAW but not IDing is okay thats not against the law. We later over heard this bar attender talking crap with a female employee in front of people sitting at the bar. We also found out he isnt the MANAGER (obviously what manager would act like that) we called the manager at the BRIDGEPORT location he seemed nice and apologized took down our information and said he would call us back we have tried to contact him many times after he keeps ignoring us VERY PROFESSIONAL he till this day has not called us back. We paid for our sodas and miso soup and left never coming here again didnt w ant to leave a review but felt that you should be prepared for service like us if you possibly come here. Very disappointing.

We had my birthday dinner at Sinju recently, and it was a big disappointment. Really regret for choosing this restaurant. Im from Japan, and was excited to have a Japanese meal on my birthday..Well, too Bad!! The restaurant itself is very charming, the service was not good, But the food.. Its terrible! You pay quite the price for what excuse for Japanese food you get. I ordered 3 kinds of Sushi, (Cooked ones since im expecting) and Sukiyaki dinner, my husband ordered The Special Sizzling Chicken Plate. His plate came out, not sizzling at all. actually it was luke warm, and the dish had absolutely no flavor. not even salt and pepper.. to have to pour some soy sauce to get some flavor, its embarrassing! The sukiyaki looked good, but it was too sweet and you can taste a raw soy sauce flavor that is strong. Every Sukiyaki comes with a bowl of rice, and this one didnt, so you can imagine the extreme sweetness just dragging in your throat.. I seriously think is a shame of what they are serving there, since the restaurant looks so pretty. The three little Sushi i got was ok. nothing special. But over all, everything is very pricey so i guess you are paying for the kind of decoration you see there, because the food itself is a shame. Horrible food! Its upsetting dining experience, and i wont never go back in there. If you enjoy real Japanese food, dont waste your time and money on this restaurant.

To be fair, the food at this place is actually pretty good - the only reason Ive listed it as low as I did is the absurdly high pricing attached to it! My wife and i went to Sinju extensively all summer last year due to their special 50% off seasonal menu. The prices for their selected nigiri and rolls were akin to a sushi train place, but the food was high quality and absolutely delicious -so much so that we continued going after the seasonal specials ended for the occasional lunch and dinner, until the economy took its toll and we had to cut back. So when we saw the summer special posters go back up this year, we were excited . . . until we got the menu. The regular prices on the 50% menu had been grossly inflated to the point that even when marked down 50%, some items were still more expensive then they had been at regular menu prices a year ago! They had salmon nigiri listed at a regular price of $7.00 --I cant name another sushi place in the area with salmon inflated that high. The food still tastes decent, but frankly artificial price rigging sours the flavor. I can name half a dozen better, and cheaper sushi places in the area. See my other reviews for some suggestions and avoid this price-gouging. On the plus side, their bar and drink menu arent so bad if youre just looking for a couple of mixed drinks, but thats not usually the reason behind going to a sushi place . . .

The sushi isnt bad here but the service is the worst. Gave this place two tries and well never go back. The first time the place was dead, only 3 other tables had people, but it still took 20 minutes to get our drinks. Another 20 minutes to take our order and I dont even know how much longer to get our food. Once we got the food it was good. The second time the service was still slow, but much faster than before. When we got our sushi the rolls were falling apart. When we told the waitress this she said "so what are you trying to tell me? Do you want us to remake the rolls or do you want a fork?" Ive never had to eat sushi with a fork, ridiculous! No Im sorry or anything, just rude and defensive. Once they brought us our check the other waitress asked how it was, so we told her and she just said ok and set the check on our table. We had to ask the busboy to get a manager. Once the manager came he just said they had a new chef and hed talk to him about it and not much else. No one ever apologized.

My wife and I have always eaten in the bar and it has always been good. We recently took some family to the restaurant section, it took us 40 minutes to place an order, drinks were slow and incorrect, sushi came out 1 roll at a time, 2 main courses arrived before appetizers, and the steak arrived 20 min after everything else and was over cooked. We felt ignored by the waiter and let he front desk girl know and she had no clue what was going on. We noticed the restaurant was relatively empty and the length of time it took was absurd. The half hearted apology was lacking. We let them know he steak was overdone and late, they offered to redo it but given it took over an hour to get the first one we were good.

My wife and I came here somewhat hesitant after reading the reviews but...we couldnt have been more pleased. The service was not top notch nor was it overly bothersome. I have had worse recently at claim jumper. The most important reason we came was for the Sushi and we couldnt have ben more pleased with the flavor, presentation and attention to freshness. We were greeted as expected when entering a sushi restaurant by the Sushi chefs. This Sushi is not top notch but is very close. Dont hesitate to give it a try.
