Consistently excellent food for a dive bar that is openly LGBT friendly. Nice private group sitting area with couch, comfy chairs games and reading materials. Pricey for the area, which is seedy, but overall an excellent value. Big screen TVs, one video game, 6 Oregon Video Lottery machines, a large area perfect for large or small groups, clean and comfortable restrooms with giant chalk boards to leave your art or thoughts. Friendly staff, quick service and excellent build your own Mac and Cheese. Good local following, reasonable but small parking lot shared with a mini-mart that surprisingly offers a huge selection of glass pipes, chillums, bongs and hookahs at extremely competitive prices. Outdoor seating area is seasonal and is not covered - used primarily by smokers. Quiet and comfortable. ATM.

The atmosphere is quite amazing.. the food is beyond delicious!! Fried pickles are my favorite!! A must try if you havent yet! So weve been here like 4 times and each time weve had really slow service with the bartenders. Atleast 2 of the times our tabs were incorrect and we were charged for drinks we never ordered. Its frustrating to stand at the bar waiting for a single drink for 15 mins (when its not busy) because the bartenders are too busy laughing and joking around with other customers that they dont feel youre business is important enough. This place would definitely benefit in a positive way if you had people behind the bar who can get drinks out quicker and actually check up on existing customers. I wont stop coming here because I believe they can get it right eventually... fingers crossed.

Im a transgurl. I first heard of the Escape from another trans person at a trans event. She told me they were owned by a lesbian married couple and the club welcomes transgurl. She was 100 percent right. First day the bartender and the head cook. Mama k. Welcomed me with welcome arms. Sence on past few months Ive had countless awesome great times there. Many many new friends. New years eve I brought another transgender with me as my date. She said I dont know anyone. I said within five min youll have about thirty new friends. And she did arriving right after you enter we both received hugs. At the Escape if you not receiving hugs its because your not giving or wanting them

Super-tasty gem near the airport Looking for a place to grab a bite after the bar exam, we found this place on Google Maps. Almost drove past it - a hole-in-the-wall bar sharing a little corner strip mall with a quickie mart. The other reviewers were correct in that it takes a little while to get your food - though not an inordinately long time. And, as the barkeep explained to us, its because everything is made by hand. Everything each of us had was delish! Great French dip, yummy pulled pork, and quite possibly the best tots I have ever had! Prices are reasonable, too. Five stars all the way!

Escape Bar & Grill is a wonderful and inclusive space. The atmosphere and decor definitely announces that their client focus is the LGBT community, but everyone is welcome. They seem to have a very strong local following - regardless of orientation. Their menu is very diverse - everything from Breakfast to Dinner. They also server a build your one Mac and Cheese - which was delicious.

Laid back and inclusive, this bar is much more than I had expected. The staff is friendly, attentive, and witty. The décor is modern and classy. The prices are beyond reasonable. The food is truly delicious. Weekends have a rousing tone that any fun-loving person will enjoy. I highly recommend checking it out for yourself.

Came here for dinner. Food is really great and I can easily tell everything is handmade (even the fries). Only downside was the slow service. This is understandable since its a neighborhood bar + restaurant. Only downside to the food is that it wasnt super flavorful. However, the quality made up for the lack of flavor.

Awesome ambiance...very welcoming for everyone! Great drinks...food very good..diverse and homemade swings on everything but a bit inconsistent at times..but it wont stop us from coming back... Owners and their mom are always working hard to improve on everything!!!

Food was decent, bartender engaged in convo, price a bit high, but it is Portland...sooooo considering the entire State runs on "hobbies". The taquitos are wrapped in spring rolls, nice idea. The Philly had chedder...meh.

One of the few stops on the outer Sandy Blvd bar crawl that accepts debit cards (nearby Ace Tavern and Rocky Butte Pub are cash-only). Crowds are rare, so service is great.
