There was a wait to be seated, but thats to be expected with a new restaurant on a Saturday morning. The service was slow, but our server was apologetic and accommodating by bringing out corn bread while we waited. It was clear that the kitchen was running behind. Once we got our food it became clear that some of the food waited under heat lamps until other parts were ready. My wife ordered the California Bacon Benedict and had to ask for more avocados as what was delivered had been turned to mush waiting for the eggs to cook. The staff were happy to bring the replacement. Once I finished with my omelette, I went to try to take on the massive biscuit that came with, but was turned off when I found a hair in it. We called the server over again and she apologized and said she would send her manager over. This is where the two star rating comes from. The manager, Kevin, came over and was immediately cold and stand-offish. We explained our experience and in a light-hearted manner my wife said that it looked like a dog hair and we chuckled a bit. We know it wasnt a dog hair. No restaurant is going to have a dog in the kitchen. Kevin did not appreciate our humor, however, and said "We dont have dogs in the kitchen. Come on now, lets not be ridiculous." I wasnt looking to be a problem customer, nor was I looking for any hand outs, but after our interaction with him, I gladly accepted his offer to comp both of our meals. If not for our issues with the manager, we would have gladly come back to try them again after they got their growing pains worked out, but now Im not sure thats the case. The rest of the staff were great and went above and beyond to help us out. They are the reason Black Bear gets two stars.

Wish there was a no star. My husband and I had been waiting for this restaurant to open and thought we would give it a try last night. This was absolutely the worst dining experience we have ever had. We parked and went inside, 10 min wait no problem that is to be expected for a new place. The experience went downhill quickly from there. Our waitress took our food order but we had to stop her from walking off so we could order something to drink (we were never even offered a glass of water). 60 minutes later after being completely ignored the waitress comes to the table to say the kitchen is understaffed and shes sorry for the wait. Again she starts to walk away...so we ask if we can possibly get our drinks as we have been waiting an hour. she says, she was just bringing them. Finally got our drinks...and were ignored for another 30 minutes. waitress finally comes up to say (again) sorry for the wait the kitchen is understaffed and i dont want to go ask about your food again because i already got yelled at for it once. At which point after watching a party of 5 adults and 3 children that came in 45 minutes after we did and seated next to us all get their meals, as did another party of 2 that also came in after we did, we told the waitress we were done waiting and were leaving...she replied "oh, ok" and walked off. As we went to pay for our beverages the female manager (i assume) quickly had the girl at the register comp us our drinks and hurry us out so none of the people waiting would hear the exchange. We will not be back.

Great, newer place, but food was flawed. The hashbrowns were prepared carelessly - first allowed to congeal into globs (you know when you dont take the time to spread the potatoes out), then burnt them so that the glob became really thick and tough. Then the English muffins were also served burnt. Ive been to Black Bear probably 30+ times. Never have this experience in the Beaverton location. So clearly, this was the cook that was simply careless. It could also be a management issue where the staff is trained to simply not serve food when it doesnt look up to your high standards - unless your standards are low. I hope this is an isolated incident, but this cooks carelessness will continue to create spotty experiences for their customers until they resolve it. Probably why all the other local Black Bear Diners have a 4.1 rating and this location has a 3.5. You have every resource to be great here. Management needs to create a higher standard.

After waiting 45 minutes for a table, I was given water in a disgustingly dirty glass. I would like to have requested a clean glass, but in the next 20 minutes we were never approached by wait-staff. We recognized the couple at the next table as having been seated shortly after we arrived, and they were still waiting for their food. We gave up and left, only to get a very snarky "have a nice night" from the woman at the reception desk. I have eaten at the Black Bear in Beaverton a few times and have always enjoyed both the food and service and was excited over this one opening closer to our home. Very disappointed that the combination of the parking shortage and poor service has led us to conclude we will not be patronizing this one ever again.

Our first visit there was pretty good... but this last trip was very disappointing. We had a 30 minute wait, which was to be expected on the weekend for here. Two times, the waitresses were delivering food to the wrong tables around us. We had to wait quite a while for our food to be delivered and it was barely even warm upon arrival. Our daughters chicken strips were raw inside and we had to request utensils to eat with. Still generally not the end of the world... but our daughters reheated lunch (they just threw the strips back in, so it shouldnt have taken 20 mins) didnt arrive until after we finished our food and had to get it to go. So for 3 meals and drinks that add up to quite a bit of money... it wasnt the greatest experience

I was disappointed in our visit to this restaurant. We were a party of nine with 3 younger children. The service was really slow, people who came in after us got their meals before us. We almost were served another tables food. Almost wish we would have not said these plates werent ours because our food took at least 1/2 to get to the table... I understand we were a larger table , but being in the restaurant business for several years, I know that this can be handled better. The food was not that good. Pancakes tough, eggs tasted funny, like plastic? Found a long hair under my pancakes... made me sick. My meal was comped by server, but the memory of that will keep me from eating there again.

Not sure what happened. 3 entres ordered, 3 totally fouled up. Chicken parm x2: fried until almost burnt and served over nothing with a drop of what looked like old ketchup masquerading as marinara on top. Steak: ordered med rare, served extra well. All meals were missing side dishes, noted on arrival home (was carry out). If you dare, at least check EVERYTHING on your order. Our server was nice, and professional, but she appeared to be by herself in the front of house at 8pm. Disappointed by an entirely inedible meal.
