If I only had to describe Wassabi in three simple words they would be: Tasty, Fresh & Clean. The ambiance is very comfortable from the lighting to the plush booths. The bar has a great happy hour and mixologists that make you want to try every drink in the house. They also have a separate lunch menu which will give you enough time to get away from your desk, eat, and get back within an hour. I can’t wait to have them cater my next event! Now what’s most important, the food… The sushi here is the best Ive had in years, even in comparison to all the overpriced joints downtown. The rolls are spectacular, especially the Wassabi Specialty ones. Youll feel like youve died and gone to heaven. I recommend the Captain Crunch Roll - no it doesnt have any cereal in it! If you’re not very adventurous, they also have the typical rolls, nigiri, and sashimi available. If youre not into sushi, no worries! You must start off with the Edamame bisque. This creamy delightful soup with the surprise of two large diver scallops that have been lightly sautéed. It will leave your tongue begging for more. Both the lemon grass New York strip as well as the pork tenderloin over the bed of fried rice with mushrooms (or steamed rice) are succulent, tender and cooked to perfection. The crispy duck breast is exactly what it says it is, who doesn’t like crisp duck skin? Finish off your experience by getting the fried bananas with the coconut/pineapple ice cream. They also have vegetarian friendly dishes as well and so much more that we have to try. The West Side has been in need of a place like this for a while. So I my last question to you is: Why spend most of your money on gas, parking, and a babysitter, when you can just bring the whole family, stay in your neighborhood, and have a better experience?

This place used to be great. Great fish, good service... but something has gone wrong. The servers are strange, and the quality of food has really gone down the hill. The last time I was there I ordered the tuna salad and it was served with moldy cherry tomatoes. I put them aside on a small plate and quietly handed them to the server the next time he came by. He grabbed the plate, said nothing, stormed off and never came back to my table except to give me the bill. There was no replacement tomatoes, no apology, no discount to the bill (my familys bill is typically $100-125). I called the next day to notify the manager that this had happened and was told that they "self manage" and no one in in charge of the restaurant. I asked what happened when there was a problem with and employee and they said nothing happens. I pressed, got a regional manager email, which I emailed, and never got a response. NO restaurant should serve moldy food- but a SUSHI house? Theres no other restaurant that has a higher need for fresh food than one that serves raw fish. Gross.

Great service staff, especially bartenders. Highly attentive, easy to talk to, and poured phenomenal drinks. Wassabi posts a great happy hour both early and late night with a menu that includes sushi -- not often seen elsewhere. Great sake selection with a good beer inventory to accompany. Most underrated and unassuming dining spot in Tanasbourne. The dining menu overall is a bit large and overwhelming but our bartender navigated us in a way to make our decision making process simple. They have great deals on "small entrees" that are portioned rather large (we had the beef negi maki, yum!) and on some bento boxes that include miso soup, salad, and a cali roll. The best deals were with the sushi combos that allowed you to pair two sushi rolls together from a select list, or one roll with your choice of nigiri sushi or sashimi for only $9!! Most sushi places charge $4-5 for two pieces of nigiri sushi alone, this was a no-brainer. Will definitely be back to Wassabi regularly!!

Service: Excellent. The waitress helped us look through the menu and was honest about what might be a good choice for us. Not overbearing but present when needed. Cleanliness: Very clean when we went. We went at a slower time though. Food: Excellent. This was our first time at a sushi restaurant, and it was a great experience. The presentation was great, and the taste was great too. The menu was a bit overwhelming at first (for our first time) but i think ill appreciate the variety once we go back again. Atmosphere: I brought my small family (small daughter and wife) and it went surprisingly well. The kids menu seemed healthy and good. The place was clean, and the service was definitely with a smile. I dont remember the name of the waitress, but she did a great job (short blonde hair). Overall experience: I would definitely go again. If you are new to the area like us, its a great experience, and would probably be good with friends too.

We were regular customers for a while. We held several (6-9 ) large family gatherings here. My husband and I went here on a date night (first in a while). Our food was served with hair on several of the sushi rolls. We sent it back, there was no apologies from anyone only glares from the sushi chef as if we did something wrong. Its been nearly three months since our last visit. We just walked in and wanted to sit on the restaurant side not the loud bar side. We we told by the obnoxious front desk lady that the restaurant side is closing in 35 minutes and we couldnt sit over there. There goes your last chance wassabi! Too bad because we brought a lot of business; not to mention our local business group that we manage will hear of our experience!

I went to Wassabi with some friends on Friday night. The place was pretty cool, but I felt its more like a café instead of Japanese restaurant. The service was pretty good although our waiter doesnt know much about sushi. BUT….the taste is awful. Sorry that I have to use this word, but it doesnt taste like any good sushi or Japanese restaurant we have tried before. Moreover, the worst part was that all of us got food poisoning (E.Coli) right after the dinner. Well…this meant a lot! If you want to have good sushi or Japanese cuisine, dont go there! And it is definitely NOT the best in Portland. There are many better ones out there, like Syun and Hana. Best Sushi and Asian fusion west of PDX? What a joke!

Service:3.5 Food: 3 Price: 3.5 Environment: 4 Overall: 3.5~4 If you are looking for high quality food or authentic Japanese sushi, you need to go to other places. Their food isnt that awful in my opinion but definitely NOT the best of the west PDX. This is a place to hang out with friends (not a big group of people) and watch some ball games on TV. I like their happy hour drinks menu (Coors light for 3 bucks) and some of their food. TVs arent as big as Buffalo Wild Wings but good enough for me to enjoy some Blazers games. I personally get a little tired of wings, so I feel its nice to have an alternative sports bar in the community.

I went to Wassabi without any high expectations since they are new and also in suburbia. To my delight, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was beautiful. I love the tuna fire balls and the duck entree. The duck was perfectly cooked and extremely moist. There is an extensive sushi menu and alot of new and interesting rolls Ive never seen before. Wassabis bar is my new hang out place. They have creative drinks that are perfectly concocted and a great happy hour menu. Its nice to have a night time hang out place close to where I live. I am so glad you are in my neightborhood Wassabi!
