I have been to this place many times, mostly because friends want to play pool. It consistently has some of the worst food and worst service Ive ever seen. At night, its hard to get service because there are so many people. Its understandable that service is slow during rush hours. Thats fine. However, even when you come during the day, when its not busy, you get very bad service. They tend to understaff during the day. When i most recently went there, there was no bartender, no dishwasher, and only two servers. Even though the staff didnt do anything wrong, it still resulted in slow and bad service. The food is also consistently bad. Ive come to accept cold and soggy fries and tater tots. Thats usual. However, this time, i got a pizza, and the cheese wasnt even melted. The dough was not cooked. The whole pizza was completely raw, and dripping with water. It was not even edible. Ive ate at this place more than 10 times at the urging of friends, and have never had a decent meal here. The food is always bad for one reason or another. Ive given this place many chances, and its consistently one of the worst restaurants ive been to. The only reason i did not give it 1 star is because they have alright (not great) beer, and the fresh squeezed cocktails are nice (when they actually have a bartender on staff). My advice would be to go to the McMenamins downtown. Its smaller, but a lot more consistent with service and food quality. Food there is usually at least fresh, hot, and well prepared. Most of the same stuff is on the menu (except for pizza), and its actually pretty good. Ive almost always had good food at that location.

I tend to be a bit of a harsh critic when it comes to McMennamins. These places are notoriously known for bad service and long waiting times. I have to admit thought his place has some college-days-nostalgia attached to it. My buddies and I would come here if we couldnt figure out where to eat, for happy hour or just to hang out. The food is different than a lot of other Mcmenammins including their normal hamburgers and tots. Also, for being a non-standard Mcmennamins thats not in a old building this place is pretty sweet. The decorations from the dining room, to the sink wall to the bathrooms are cool.

Was in the restaurant earlier this week, and waited 50 minutes for food. We gave up and left. By the way, someone needs to tell these people that tater tots are not a delicacy. Really? You can get a bag of frozen tater tots at Safeway, heat them in your own oven. and get exactly the same taste. Want the Cajun style tots? Sprinkle some Cajun spice on them and there you go. If you do it yourself, youll pay a third of the price and get them on your table three times as fast. McMenamins survives on Monroe simply because people have few food choices. Over-rated by a long shot.

I came here for some late night tacos and couldnt have had a more disappointing experience... the bearded bar tender spent more time goofing around with regulars? Or people that worked there? Idk but the service was terrible and the tacos were stale! Not sure how long those taco shellls were left out but dang Ive never had a worse taco in Corvallis. The meat was cold and tasted like it was microwaved. I gave this place a second chance after my first poor experience (which I didnt write about) but believe you me I will not be back. Ew.

Service was very slow and ditsy. We had to point out the empty tables upstairs. It was as if the host never even thought of using the dining area upstairs. Draft beer was terrible. Sent it back and he brought me a beer from a can. You can buy a can from this place for $2.75 yet he charged me the draft price of $5.50. Pizza special was weak. No flavor at all. The dining room was dirty and just overall bad experience. I have to say, my first poor one at a Mcmenamins establishment. Will not be returning to this location.

Pros: Good location, right next to campus. Service is friendly. Food is good. Atmosphere is quirky and fun. Pool tables. Lots of seating. House whisky is fun to taste. Cons: Price is high. You would expect to either get more food, or better food for what you are paying. The beer is hit-or-miss, with McMenamins year-round brews usually the best, rather than the seasonal and house brews. Happy Hour is hardly a discount, which may be because college students keep the place busy most of the day.

Ive never come across an establishment with service as poor as the Monroe McMenamins; the bartenders didnt even acknowledge my guest and I as we sat down at the bar. Ignored us for fifteen minutes before we pulled aside a barback to get us some water. While renowned on OSU campus for being extremely slow and poor service, its location is its only saving grace. The food is alright, not spectacular. The drinks are pricey. Still wondering why theyre in business.

We used to enjoy McMenamins but have stopped going here because of too many bad experiences with the food. The last time I ate here I actually got sick afterward. The food is also extremely greasy & I wish there would be a bit more thought put into the kids menus which are generally low quality and not a good value. Its a shame, because the atmosphere is nice & its a fun kind of place, but we wont be back.

Despicable service: heres why. My buddy just wanted tater tots. He said they were too salty. I tried one. Barely swallowed it because it was so salty. Told waiter. Waiter said they would get my buddy less salty tots. It was clear they refried the tots in oil and returned them. Salty taste still very strong. They were dripping in oil when they got to the table, unlike 4+ orders of Cajun Tots our group bought.

McMenamins offers a standard pub experience. The price point and food quality dont really match. There doesnt seem to be a standard of excellence that this restaurant strives for. However, it isnt fine dining and delivers on standard bar fare and a wide selection of drinks. Newer players to the pub/brewery game seem to take food a bit further.

Never go at Happy hour. The food was burnt and fries and tots were old and stale. The sever came to are table one time to give us out food and kept forgetting are drink order. Ive been there alot and everytime it ends up being a horrible experience. Go down town if you want to have a good time

Its all right, the beer is excellent and not very expensive. The food leaves some to be desired though. Its decent and if it was priced as pub food then itd be fine, but its priced as mid-range restaurant food, so ~$10-13 for a burger, and $10-$15 for the rest of the entrees.

The food is actually quite good. My biggest problem with this place is just that it takes a while to get attention from the server, and forever to get the check. If I was there to drink, Im sure that would be fine, but I go for a lunch and it ends up being 1 - 1.5 hours.

Scammed me by not telling me there was a FIVE DOLLAR fee just to play shuffleboard until after I was there to pay. The chubby bartender thought that saying "yes I did" was enough of an excuse. Rude staff, food is crappy, overpriced items, beer tastes like piss. Avoid.
