A friend and I went to eat lunch knowing full well where we were going. I had always walked past this cute little restaurant while getting boba tea next door (which is also pretty cute). People will tell you this place has ambiance, but you know, its just a little place... not exactly the most rigorously clean, but very mom and pop. We had lunch and it was very reasonably priced and you get more than what you pay for.. or at least what I expected! Kimchee is on the house and bottomless, as is the sweet puffed rice drinks at the end that were so lovely and refreshing. The waiter, who i am assuming holds some pretty decent rank if he isnt the owner, was really really helpful. I have had korean food a few times before, but my counterpart was a noob at it. She got the bimbimbab and he provided her with the sauce and a really... enthusiastic way of displaying the correct amount of how to portion out the sauce. I got the soon du bu, soft tofu stew with assorted mixings being seafood and vegetables. They ask you if you want mild, medium, or spicy for almost every dish - I got medium thinking my palette couldnt handle the temp. was sorely disappointed I didnt go for spicy. Besides the fault of my own doing, the food was EXCELLENT!!! Seriously! When being waited on, just remember that its a different culture and the way we swoon over the people who make our food is much different than the short, almost jarring way they respond... despite it being genuinely grateful.

this time when I frist went, it was a busy night. when I first went in, I already saw 2 tables hasnt been bused. and then, once I sat down, I waited for 15 minutes to get my order, and I am a one-person party. 15 minutes!!!! anyway, more and more people come in, then their helper came out and then to bus the tables. and then let 2 other parties sit down. then, 2 tables left, and they let that table sat for a long time without busing. OMG. your restaurant is frigging busy. why couldnt they help keep up with busing the tables? They need to move fast! and one thing, that ignores me is that, they hang out their food menu to their customers while they are waiting. I understand they logic behind it. table hasnt been bused, read the menu first. Poor service. period. I would say it is a weird kind of service. so anyway, it took me 1 hour to finish my meal, and I was already the early crowd came in to beat the dinner rush, which other people like to go in around 7pm. Food is great tho. gave a lot of side dishes, and tons of tofu. Tons. but what I ordered was a soft tofu spicy soup with beef.... hmmm.. I dont see my beef.... that is scatcy there. I dont think I will go back. the service people are not friendly either.

This place is absolutely fantastic. The owners are extremely friendly and treated us as true guests, not just customers. We ordered the Soon Doo Boo soup (spicy tofu soup) and the Dol Sot bibimbap. The bibimbap was fantastic. Perfectly crispy on the bottom, flavorful, and just straight-up delicious. The soup was outstanding. It made me like tofu. Its spicy but not to a point where you cant taste it and the vegetables taste fresh. Dont get me started on the sides, either. Kimchi was perfect, potatoes were perfect, noodles were perfect, sprouts were perfect, and the broccoli salad-type dish (I dont know the name) was so damn good. At the very end of our meal, the woman who owns/co-owns the restaurant came over and treated us to some fermented rice punch for dessert, which she said was a traditional Korean end to the meal. It was a refreshing treat. All in all, this place was worth the trip and is, hands down, the best Korean place Ive ever been to.

My experience was all around excellent! The food, ambient, service and all was excellent. I will definitely go back in the future. One thing I really want to emphasize is how great the service was. I assume that the gentleman in charge of the service is the owner as well, but either way he was so helpful and friendly! Being the first time ordering Korean food (and eating from a hot plate/bowl) I would have been completely lost if it wasnt for the the server. Im sure many can relate that when its the first time you eat somewhere or try something and its unfamiliar you are unsure as to what to order or how to prepare/season the food etc, however he explained everything so well and was very nice. They have a lot of dishes on their menu with pictures and the food I ordered tasted delicious. The ambient was excellent as well. I loved the Korean music playing and the decor as well. Very warm and welcoming!

We definitely ordered way more than we should have for just 3 people, but I had been craving Korean food for months and needed to get my fix! The seafood pancake is a must, it’s so damn delicious and one of the best I’ve ever had. We had the tofu chigae, short ribs, dokbokki, and grilled pork, and they comped us steam eggs—my fave!!! There was so much food, especially with the small side dishes, but we put a pretty good dent in it all. Tried Korean raspberry wine for the first time, and it was pretty good! Tasted too sweet to be wine to me. The servers were so sweet as well, definitely got to love genuine service like that. I wish I didn’t have to drive to Beaverton every time I want good Korean food though! But the food is worth the drive for sure.

Had the lunch box bulgogi. Tender and sweet beef paired w sticky rice, pieces of vege pancake and couple dumplings plus a side salad. It also came w some side dishes, as is tradition. Lunch is inexpensive at $10 a box, but come at dinner and youre looking at $13+(the beef bulgogi was $16 I think). So dinner is pricey, but arrive before 3pm for lunch and you can eat like a king for a paupers wage. Service was quick and friendly and the dining room was clean and cool. They close at 330 and reopen an hour or so later I saw, so watch out for that. Overall loved everything and will be back.

Excellent Korean food and the owner always remembers us and makes a special effort to talk to us & make us feel appreciated. I wish all restaurants made the extra effort like him. The Bi Bim Bop in a hot stone bowl (dont forget the Go Chu Jang) is my personal favorite, but everything weve tried has been fantastic. We especially love trying all the side dishes they bring out. Eating there reminds us of the food we tasted when we visited Seoul. Whenever I think of trying Korean food in the Portland area, this is the place I want to go.

my friend and i love korean food and after she moved to portland wed been looking for a new favorite korean spot to go. after reading the great reviews i suggested we try it and we absolutely loved it! we split the seafood pancake and she got the grilled mackerel which was so delicious and i got the dolsot bibimbap and it was amazing. the staff were so nice and friendly too. this is definitely gonna be our new favorite, even though its a bit of a drive from where she lives, its worth it.
